Hot, Swimming

Submitted by TiM on

Scorcher of a weekend!  Saturday I make the kids pancakes, then we went for a long walk to the BP.  It's about a 3km round trip which isn't too bad for the kids!  Biscuit came, I bought my 10L petrol container too for the lawnmower.  I could have driven and probably looked a bit silly taking 2 kids, a dog and a petrol can for a walk, but it was good exercise for the ol' sore knee.  Which still hurts, damnit.  After the walk we all went into town to buy Theo some new lego.  He's right into lego at the moment, planes and helicopters and "lego mans" are all the rage.  So we went into town, had some Mexican for lunch and then went to Farmers to buy some lego.  He quickly found what he wanted (a Lego plane) while Beth wasn't sure and kept going back and forth back and forth to decide what she wanted.  Theo was getting every more impatient "Let's go down the escalator".  He was getting so annoyed we weren't leaving so he could play with his new toy.  Beth eventually settled on a kit where you can paint your nails and put nail extensions on etc.  Finally we got everything and left, after a quick visit to Kathmandu.

Once home Sarah made Theo's plane and he played with it non-stop, even when Joseph and Isla arrived to stay the night.  I jumped in the pool with all the kids, it's hard work trying to wrangle 4 of them.  "Uncle Tim look at this! Uncle Tim!  Daddy! Watch this! Uncle Tim DADDY" etc.  We had a nice swim though and then everyone got into their PJs to watch Monster's University before bed.  Took a little while for everyone to get to sleep, mostly Theo because all he wanted to do was play with his new lego.

Sunday everyone got up early, we had another swim and some breakfast.  Holly came over and told us they had a good night at Fatboy Slim.  She also bought pastries and coffee!  Once Joseph and Isla left, Sarah's friend Emma came over for the day.  So the rest of the day was spent tending to the garden and doing other small bits and pieces.  After a bit the kids wanted to go for another swim, it was so hot and sunny so I put up a tarp over the pool.  It was super Bogan, but it worked.  We had a little swim in there and then Emma's mum arrived to take her home.  The kids played for a bit outside, Sarah cooked a lovely dinner then it was time for bed.  Oh and we finished watching a doco/movie we'd started the night before about Russian Doping called Icarus.  It was pretty good, though it also seemed just a little far fetched or not quite right.  I don't know, I can't quite put my finger on it but something about it just doesn't sit right with me.  It was a good movie though.

I've changed the theme on my diary for a bit.  I really didn't like the old one, I'm not a huge fan of this one either but it's better than the old one I think.  I don't know, let me know in the comments if you think it's better or worse or couldn't give a ratsies.

Biscuit is good, gave him a bath last night.  He's quite good at being bathed, I mean he doesn't love it but he doesn't struggle to get out, he just sits there and takes it.  I've been taking him for walks in the morning too
