Theo's Scooter, Bowling, Cousin's Sleepover
Theo has been thoroughly enjoying his new scooter. We were a bit worried he'd keep defaulting back to wanting to ride on his Motorbike, but I'm pleased to report that hasn't been the case at all. He took the Scooter to Grandma's on his Tuesday visit and they went to the New Playground. She said that while he liked the playground, he spent 2 hour just riding his scooter in the little scooter/skateboard area having a real blast. I'm so glad he loves it as much as he does.
So anyway wind back to last Friday night, which was Theo's birthday party. Just a small gathering at home, Holly, Age, Joseph, Isla, Peter and Mary all came over. We ordered pizzas and had a nice night in, he loved his Captain Barnacles cake. It was a very tasty cake too.
Saturday morning was 10 pin bowling out in Hastings for Joseph's birthday. Beth was quite concerned about it when we told her, she really didn't want to go. We explained that new things can be scary at first etc, then we got out and went anyway. After 10 minutes of bowling both children (and all the other children there) realised they loved it and it was amazing fun. They had one of those ramps to push the balls down, but both Theo and Beth would pick up the ball and lift it up onto the ramp, no mean feat especially for Theo. The most embarrassing thing of all is that Theo did amazingly well, he almost beat Adrian. He came second, he beat me. That's embarrassing. Though I didn't have bumper walls or a ramp to bowl my ball, but he is 3. Everyone had a great time bowling anyway, afterwards there was another cake for Joseph and lunch!
From there we headed over to Brave to pickup my new T-Shirt and to fill up my beer flagons. Sarah went to Freedom for a few minutes, then we headed home. The afternoon was mostly spent doing tasks/chores around the house.
Sunday morning got up early and took Theo for a walk with his new scooter, Beth wanted to stay in bed. We had a good ride around the block, he loved his scooter and proudly showed it off to another little boy down the road who's Mum was telling me her little boy was a bit nervous, he'd been given a new scooter recently too but was scared to ride it. Seeing Theo zoom around on his made him a bit less scared.
Once Theo and I had zipped around the block, we all went into the Bike Park for Theo to have a ride around there, Beth took her bike and rode around too. Sarah pointed out to me just how Pink she was, she'd picked all her own clothes which were all pretty much pink, she had a Pink bike and a Pink Helmet. She did a great job riding her bike though, she was pretty frustrated and annoyed with it when she first got it but now she's confident even though sometimes the training wheels get stuck or cause the bike to tip over in funny ways.
Once we'd finished there we went and got Icecreams, everyone enjoyed discussing which was their favourite ice cream scoop in the display cases they have at "Lick This" and talking about their favour flavours. Then it was time to head home, which caused Theo extreme sadness, he just wanted to keep riding his scooter.
Sunday afternoon just did some more gardening/work around the house, cleaned out the gutters, trimmed the wisteria etc. Nothing too exciting.
It was a pretty average work week otherwise I think, nothing major that I can think about.
Saturday morning just gone, I got up and made everyone pancakes. Then we took the Scooter and the Pink Bike for a ride around JTown, when to visit the chickens and to see if we could see the Monster Chicken. Went down to see the horse etc. It was a very frosty morning, they had a great time riding around in the ice and all over the show. It's a good thing that the traffic in JTown is so quiet at 9am in the morning! Once we'd been for a bit ride it was time to do a few small errands. The three of us went to pickup my bike which had been getting repaired at the bike shop, then we went to see... THE NEW PLAYGROUND.
I must say the council have done a great job with the new and improved Anderson Park. So many great toys, activities and things for the kids to do. Beth and Theo had a really great time jumping, running, bouncing, climbing and all those things. And we only visited about an 8th of all the new things to see and do. They were so excited, but also happy to leave because we were going to pick up Rusty!
Once we got back with Rusty it was time to watch a bit of TV to calm down, have a lunch, then go to bed for a couple of hours because it was going to be a long night!
About 4pm I woke everyone up from their sleep, then Grandma dropped Joseph and Isla off here for the night! They had sausages and chips for dinner, then it was Movie Night time with popcorn and Monsters University on the TV. Lots of fun. Finally it was time to get everyone to bed, we tried to get Beth/Theo to sleep in one room and Joseph/Isla in the other but that just wasn't going to happen. In the end it was Beth/Joseph fast asleep in Beth's room, and Theo and Isla fast asleep in Theo's. What was even cuter was that I "busted" Theo getting into bed with Isla and told him he had to sleep in his own bed thanks. He burst into tears and said that Isla wanted him to snuggle in with him, which Isla agreed, so I let him jump in. 30 minutes later they were both fast asleep tucked up together and stayed like that all night.
In fact they were great, no wake ups or crying or anything in the night from any of them, though at 6am they were all jumping around having a great time. Once they'd all had breakfast I took the four of them for a walk around Jtown, Rusty too. Trying to corral a gaggle of 4 children and one dog down streets with no footpaths and scooters, bikes and all sorts was quite a challenge, but it was lots of fun. We went to visit the chickens, see the horse, the usual JTown sights. Then we came home and the kids played around either outside, or watched TV, or both. Sarah got her old remote control car working and they kids drove that around, Beth and Isla had a disco in Beth's room.
By the time Holly and Adrian arrived back from Taupo (Holly won!) everyone was beside themselves with tiredness. I put Beth and Theo to bed and they didn't even really protest, they just crashed out. I even had a snooze on the couch too.
After dinner, because everyone was so not-tried from their big afternoon sleep, I took them for a torch walk around JTown. They loved having little torches to shine on everything, in everyone's eyes, around all over the place at the signs that reflect. They were very excited when I revealed half way around that Sarah had given me some chocolate coins for them to eat as snacks. So we spent an hour or so doing the walk, then a big warm bath and time to sleep. Still took them both a little while because they'd had a big afternoon sleep, but off they finally went happy as.
Beth is doing really well with her words/reading. Kindy has given her a bunch of "sight words" for her to learn and she's very good at figuring out what the 3-5 letter words say quickly. She's going to go really well at school I think. Theo's doing great too, loves to ask lots of questions now about everything. What's this, what's that, why this, why that? Beth is so lovely to him, helping him when he can't find one of his toys that he wants. Speaking of toys far out every night the little fella crawls into bed with a huge collections of trucks, trains and assorted other vehicles. There's hardly any room for him but he doesn't seem to mind. Beth's nighttime activity at the moment is a game called "Argh there's a spider". There's a Mummy one and Child one and the child one goes to bed but finds a (placed in there by me/Sarah) spider in his bed (the bed is a specific page in a specific book) and the child screams "Arrrgh there's a spider" and so the Mummy one comes in and removes the spider. At first spider removal the Mummy is aghast that there's a spider, but by the 3rd or 4th time the Mummy one just doesn't believe the child one that there could be another spider. Beth HOWLS with laughter at the following exchange "You listen here little one, no more silly nonsense. You must hop into bed. There can't possibly be a 4th spider in your bed, that just wouldn't make any..... OH MY GOSH YET ANOTHER SPIDER! YOU NAUGHTY NAUGHTY SPIDERS YOU GET OUT" Hilarious...
Ok well that's enough typing, time to go to bed. I've got my abdomen scan tomorrow, hopefully they find a big meataxe thing they can take out any my abdomen will stop annoying me now and then! I had to drink lots of water today, I have to drink lots of water tomorrow too. Fun fun!
