The Sick Files

Submitted by TiM on

What a rough weekend it was. Mother's Day on Sunday but it really wasn't much of a day for anyone, what with Beth being really sick, Sarah being average and I was pretty miserable myself. Friday Beth went to swimming and was OK, but Friday evening when she was picked up she had quite a red face and later that evening complained about being unwell. Friday night was a very rough night, I think that Beth woke up about 8 times or so, 4 of those involving vomiting. She's so good now though, she knows she's going to be sick and asks for a bucket. She's almost proud to tell us "I did a spew"

Saturday we didn't do much, I took Theo to swimming because he was OK. I almost didn't go because I was feeling so average but I thought it'd be pretty unfair to the little fella because he does love his swimming so much. I am really glad that I took him too because he was amazing. In two weeks he's gone from I don't want to put my head under to pretty much wanting to put his head under by himself. He was going the exercise of hanging on to the inside of the pool, letting go, turning around UNDER THE WATER and then floating up and hanging onto me. Then he'd do the opposite, letting go of me, turning around and the grabbing onto the side of the pool. It was very impressive, he ducked under the water to grab toys and all sorts of things he hasn't wanted to do before. Jill was really impressed with his super progress in such a sort space of time. So I'm really glad I took him, average though I felt, it was so great to see how confident he's become in the water.

Works been so busy, finally got two big things over the line on Friday which made the weekend a lot more stress free. Friday lunchtime I met up with the French macaron guy to buy macarons for Mother's Day. I was very impressed when he texted me to say he'd meet up with me and bring them. Thanks Mister Macaron! Beth also wrote her first card all by herself, which she was really proud of. As she should be!! I can't really remember what happened last weekend, I know Theo did a great job at swimming then too, though not as good as Saturday just gone.

Oh and wow the massive floods in Hobart! I rang Dad, Rob and Chris, thankfully none of them affected though Rob's parents weren't quite as lucky.

I'm on the plane now flying down to Wellington for my Annual Review. First time working for Prophecy I've been nervous about it. I know I've done a good job this year helping to bring in new business and keeping existing business ticking along, but there's a few things going on I want to talk about that might involve some difficult conversations.

Beth and Theo both woke up early this morning, not really that surprised given how early we got them to bed, so I managed to make both of them breakfast just before I walked out the door. I shudder to think about the mess that will be left for Sarah when she gets up. I guess that'll have to do dear diary, like I said can't remember too much about last weekend. I don't think we did a lot, went out to brave and filled up the beer flagons.

Oh yes! Saturday night we went into Monica Loves for dinner, though the only problem with that is that every food item they serve is meant as a bar snack so it's all super salty. But it was nice, then we went to see "A Quiet Place" which while a horror movie was still really good. Apart from the obvious plot holes which annoyed me 10 minutes into the movie. But still a good watch.

Last Saturday morning the power went out for about 2o minutes. Beth was fascinated by it. Why doesn't the toilet flush? Why doesn't the TV work but your phone does etc. Batteries are confusing I guess. Mostly they were annoyed the TV didn't work, but Beth really peppered me with questions about what did and didn't work.

continues to frustrate me. My diary isn't auto generating URLs like it's supposed to, no idea why. Will look into it more when I have a chance. And my home router project is great apart from twice now the box has just powered off for no reason. Both times thankfully when Sarah hasn't been in the middle of working. Both times it seems to be related to when the box has powered on automatically after a power outage. Either that or its the Intel microcode, which I have rolled back to the pre Spectre/Meltdown fixes version. Hopefully that keeps it stable. Overall though it's still a lot better than what we used to have, the WiFi in the house is strong everywhere and Sarah doesn't have problems with her various devices being booted off the network.

Ok I think that's enough ranting, I've pretty much filled up the entire fight to Wellington pecking this story on my phone, so that's why there's so many typos. Not that I've read it, but usually the stories I write on my phone are very error filled.
