Soggy Doggy, Chainsaw Failures
Had a nice weekend with the kids. Saturday morning even though it was looking a bit overcast we took them to the Napier Bike Track and they had a ride around on their bikes. Beth really didnt' want to ride on her new bike at all, but after some great coaching by Sarah she really got the hang of it and was peddling around like a pro by the end. Which was nice to see, as before that she would just get really fed up, give up and sulk. But now see's really got the hang of it. At least mostly.
After the bike park we ducked into The Warehouse to get a present for Jack and also to get a toy each for the kids. We ended up getting them a little super soaker each, plus a game called Soggy Doggy. Beth instantly loved it, even though she didn't really know what it was. Once she got it out and she and Sarah started playing, she was giddy with excitement. Here's her squeeling with excitement once it's started shaking again.
Of cousre after this it wasn't the game that really was the fun part, rather just having the "dog" bit of the game getting carried around. Since then Soggy Doggy has been taken to bed and on many trips around the house etc.
Satuday night we invited Holly and Age around for dinner, we ordered some yummy curry from Indigo. Adrian ordered 1 hot one and when the man asked Holly did we want it extra hot she said yes. Man alive, was it hot. You could tell it was already a hot curry, but then it seems like they dumped a cup of mega chilli sauce or similar in there. Man alive. It was tasty though. We watched the AFL grand final, mostly because I made everyone, while the kids ran around and had a great time playing, riding their bikes etc.
Sunday morning we went to the market and had a lovely time, it was a nice sunny day and we all enjoyed running around, some coffee, buying a cupcake etc. I got the last toasted sandwich from the toasted sandwich man, so that was a win! One we got back (we knew we had to go when Theo said "I want to go to bed") we put Theo down and Sarah and I went to cut down the tree next to the pool that's been getting on a bigger and bigger lean of late. I'm so bad with a chainsaw, we really had no idea what we were doing. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong. The tree came down at a bad angle, the chainsaw got caught up and the plastic protector bit got pressed into the exhaust and melted a bit. Oh dear. Then later on clearing a branch I got the chain caught in the tree. Probably a good thing though because when I put my new chain on it was cutting twice as well as the old chain which was obviously quite blunt!
Sunday afternoon Beth took herself off to bed, tired as from a late night the night before. I took Theo to "Train World" in Napier, I'd usually take him to the train park but it was raining so figured they'd be closed. Indoor train world was alright, a bit old and run down, but Theo still enjoyed it. Except when I wasn't watching him and he fell off the steps. Twice. Bad Daddy. He was fine, got a bit of a fright. After that we went and had a bikket and a fluffy at the cafe, before coming home and he helped me "clean and sweep up" out the back where we'd cut down the tree.
Theo's going well with his toilet, still not great but getting there. Sunday both times he needed to do a poo he told me and we got him on the toilet. But this morning I had to change a smelly nappy, if he's off in his room playing he wont' come and tell me, but if I'm with him he will. Still practice makes perfect, we just need Granny to come over for a 2 week holiday and get him sorted out, that's what happened with Beth and we've never looked back, she's perfect now apart from the odd time holding on too long and weeing in her pants.
Quite annoyed that Mollom, the Anti-Spam module I've been using on my website for the last ~7 years is being depreciated and turned off next year. Which means of course it's time to find something else that does a similar thing. I've found another module that isn't going to be as effective (it doesn't anaylis comments) but should be fairly effective against the dumb spam bots that try to post comments on my website.
