Riding on the back
Beth had a really busy day yesterday, firstly it was her friend from kindy Amy's birthday party. In the excitement of drawing on Amy's birthday card Beth bit the pen she was using, a pen with fluro pink ink. That was kinda funny, if we hadn't been in a rush to get out the door on time. Sarah put her in a lovely pink dress for the party too, when Sarah got there 2 other little girls had the same dress on.
After Amy's party she went to Liam's house for a playdate, something she'd been excited about all week. Sounds like she had a pretty good time there too.
While Beth was out, Theo and I got to hang out together which was nice. First of all we spent a bit of time in the garden, doing some "gargling" as Theo calls it. Then he helped me hang out the washing, each item is handed to me with an earnest "Here's one!" Once we'd hung out the washing I got out Sarah's bike, dusted off the spiders, pumped up the tires and put Theo on the back in the kiddy seat, then we rode up to the dairy to get some milk. I was a bit slow and nervous at first, not being sure how Theo would like it, but of course he loved it.
Once we got back I put him down for a sleep and told him if he was good and had a sleep we'd go and see the trains. Finally after the excitement wore off he crashed out to sleep, so I did some major weeding in the front garden.
About an hour and a bit later I realised I was going to have to wake Theo up if we wanted to see the trains before they closed, so I went and got him up. I'm not even 100% he'd slept because he was awake when I went in, not sure if that was because I'd told him to sleep so he'd just been quiet the whole time, or if he really was asleep and I woke him as I went into the room.
Either way I got him up, put some more clothes on and we hopped on the bike again (Sarah was with Beth at Liam's and had the car) and rode off to the trains. Theo really loved the bike ride this time, go faster Daddy, faster.
We got to the trains and had a ride, which of course he loved. Our train was an electric one and the man said this would be its last ride of the day because its batteries were flat. And boy were they, we could have walked around the trainline faster than the little train took us, but that was still quite nice because Theo didn't mind and it meant we got a super long train ride!
After the train ride we rode around the park a bit more, going over all the bridges which was fun for Theo, before deciding to head home. This caused much upset and the ride home wasn't much fun, Theo just kept saying "I want Milk!" all the way home, I think maybe he was hungry or it'd all been a bit too much for him.
Saturday was Saturday, Sarah went into town with Beth to get a present for Amy's party, Theo and I hung out and got ready for his swimming lesson. He did much better this week than last week where everything was "No Daddy!" Saturday night we went around to Peter and Mary's for a lovely dinner, shame that the kids (well, Beth) were being little turds. I guess Beth was just tired from a long day, but they just screamed and complained. Was good to get home and get to bed.
