Unicorn Party

Submitted by TiM on

Friday night Sarah and I got the house ready for the onslaught of children. Why do you tidy a house before 8 odd toddlers arrive? That's a bit of an existential question I suppose. Anyway we got everything ready, Sarah baked an amazing Unicorn cake, and associated unicorn horns. She'd already bought lots of stuff from Aliexpress including giant unicorn balloons, unicorn horns and cups etc. It was pretty unitense.

Everyone arrived on Saturday morning, shame it was a bit wet and raining but that didn't really matter, everyone was happy to run around. Pass the Parcel was a total trainwreck though, technology totally let me down so I ended up giving the winning present to Beth! ARRRGHH!!! How stupid. Thankfully there was a second pass the parcel that someone else won. Gosh how stupid though, Adrian pre-warned me it was stressful and I didn't realise how right he was until it was over. Anyway, it was quickly forgotten as the kids went on to keep playing, then the cake came out.
Everyone seemed to have a pretty good time though, the funniest was the impromptu disco the kids had in Beths' room with a colourful lantern she was given as a present.

Once everyone left it was time to cleanup, Sarah left with Holly to go to Alan Snoad's funeral. I cleaned up a bit, put the kids to bed and crashed out on the couch for a snooze. Saturday night we totally bludged and had curry for dinner. Early bed.
Sunday was Father's Day, though I totally forgot about it until Sarah reminded me. I got some new gumboots and a nice new jumper. We went and had lunch at Church Road which was great fun, then over to Peter and Mary's for a few drinks and to let the kids burn off their icecream. Once we got them home they were totally stuffed, off to bed everyone went!

Work's busy. Going well, had a few wins today. Joy.
