Horse Rides & Train Rides

Submitted by TiM on

We went out to the Farmer's Market yesterday - we weren't planning to initially but Peter rang up and said they were going out there, so we went too because the kids hadn't seen Grandad and Grandma for a couple of weeks. Peter was ill for the whole 2 weeks they were on holiday, poor things, what a nightmare. At least Mary said she had an enjoyable time, though I'm sure it would have been much more enjoyable if Peter had been well. The Market was lovely, a beautiful sunny day without a cloud in the sky. Which of course meant it was super freezing cold.
But they had Pony Rides! They had a big pony and a little shetland pony. Beth said that she wanted to go have a ride on the shetland, Sarah and I weren't so sure but parted with a whole $3 to see anyway. And when it was finally Beth's turn she really loved it, smiling and laughing the whole way around. Theo wanted a go too but he's too small, so I gave him "Daddy Pony Rides" running up and down along the grass with him on my shoulders. That seemed to keep him happy.
Then in the afternoon while Theo slept Beth and I went to Mitre 10 to get a new halogen bulb for outside, Beth was my assistant though insisted I just called her "Beth" instead of "my assistant"! Theo finally woke up about 3pm, which is fine I'm glad the little fella had a good sleep, but it didn't leave much time to get to the park for a Train Ride. Still the 3 of us zipped over there and they were still running the rides for the next 30 minutes, so we paid our $2 each for a train ride and off we went. Theo loves it, Beth loves it, it's great fun. Then because it was still such a nice afternoon and everyone was doing so well, we went over to the playground and run around there like mad things for 40 minutes. Mostly we chased each other up and down hills, Beth loved it when I would trip her over on purpose. Theo got in on the action too, running towards me and then just falling down on the ground (way before I'd even had a chance to trip him).
Home and dinner, then Theo wanted a shower and Beth wanted a bath. Theo was hilarious in the shower, waving the shower squeegee around and barking orders at me. "Closa Door!" "Steam Mop (stand up)" "Knock Knock (Please open the door)". It's all fun and games until someone does a giant poo in the shower, then it's not so much fun and games anymore. I was in the kitchen and Sarah started calling out "Tim! Tim!" and I thought something bad had happened. Well, something bad HAD happened, but it wasn't a child falling over or anything.

So we had a great day yesterday anyway, I'm almost fully recovered from this stupid cold too.
