Day 3 in Bali
Hello again from Bali. We're having a great time though we do miss the kiddies. Granny has been great at keeping us updated with what they're up too though with photos.
Our first full day here we walked around for a while to get our bearings, we were up super early because of the 4 hour time difference. We went for a walk along the beach and I was amazed at how many people are jogging and walking their dogs and all those sorts of things. It was a pretty overcast morning really but that didn't stop everyone from doing their thing.
We got back to our accommodation and I spent an our fixing my damn server that does Sarah and my emails, stupid thing decided it was going to lock up totally. Thankfully with a bit of remote magic on my phone I was able to reboot it and get it working again. A whole week of no working email wasn't something I was looking forward too.
After that crises was headed off we went and hung out by the pool for the afternoon, before heading off for dinner. We'd been sure to book before we went, but due to a bit of a stuffup on my part it turns out I'd booked us into Bamvoo, not Bambu. Oops. Still they invited us in and we had a couple of drinks before our table was ready. That was lucky! We had a lovely dinner too, though the best part was definitely the Tuna Ceviche we had as a starter, quite garlicky but very delicious.
Yesterday we had our delicious breakfast in our room again. The room is service is very fancy here, not only do they bring the meal in but then they set the table for you and lay everything out ready to go. Once we'd had breakfast we caught a taxi to an area we'd seen on our way here from the airport. We walked around for a couple of hours in the heat, doing some shopping before stopping at a nice little coffee house for a bit for an early morning snack of waffles and icecream. At least that's what I had. Sarah booked us dinner for the evening online, then we headed back to our accommodation to do a bit of snorkel practice in the pool. I'm terrible at snorkeling at first, so having a bit of a practice in the pool was a good idea of Sarah's.
I'm super glad that I got my ears cleaned before we came away this time, when we were in Fiji last year my ears were so blocked up after an afternoon in the pool and it made the holiday a bit miserable because I had real trouble hearing and just generally felt off with really blocked ears. But not this time, swimming in one of the two pools is fun!
One we'd finished swimming in the pool we read some WhatsApp messages from Granny, seeing the kiddies in their bath and we sent them a few messages in return showing then what our accommodation looks like. Beth loves to see those sorts of things when someone is away. I'm not sure that Theo cares though.
After a bit of an afternoon snooze we went out with the simple task in mind of getting some hair ties for Sarah. A 10 minute task we thought. 2 hours later after having visited two different chemists and about eight qwikmarts we finally stumbled after a little hair salon that had a range of hair ties. Phew! We came back to our accommodation, rested up for a while before heading out to dinner in the slight rain.
We had a drink at a place called Sea Circus, before walking next door to Urchin for dinner. Urchin was very quiet, only 2 other groups dining there, but the cocktails were lovely and the food was really good. I had Tuna for my main which is very unlike me, fish as a main! But it was so nice, I was super happy with my choice. After dinner we were going to go for another walk along the beach, but when we got there we realised it was very dark and not really very safe looking. So we just walked back here instead.
This morning we've had our breakfast, I've just written up this diary entry and now we're going for a swim.
