Last Week
Written on Tuesday 16th May on my Flight to Wellington:
Beth has been quite sick the last few days and it's been a bit of a nightmare for everyone, herself included. Finally today she's back at daycare. I took her to the Doctor again yesterday afternoon, he said that actually it won't be slapcheek it'll be the strepthroat that the tests came back and showed.
At least today she seems to be back to herself, she got up and was happy without a whole bunch of grizzling and all that sort of carry on. She had a massive feijoa that I picked up off the ground last night. I was going to give it too Liviu but then Sarah said that I should keep it out for her which was a great idea because it meant she was excited about eating. Which is the first time she's been excited about eating in a few days.
Theo and I have been playing at the airport and waiting for my flight to board. We've been going up and down and up and down the stairs, he loves it. We count as we go too and he thinks that's the greatest thing ever. That plus the fact there are heaps of places here at the airport have made the whole thing very exciting for him. (Update: Sarah said he totally lost it when it was time to leave, poor fella. Overtired)
We got the photos back from our photo shoot last weekend. Oh yes I forgot to tell you (me?) about that in my last update. Sarah left the house about 8:30am leaving me in charge of getting g the kids all dressed and ready in their nice clothes, ready for the photo shoot. So I spent the whole time sweating like a pig, worried they were going to rip their nice clothes or throw food on each other etc. Amazingly none of these things happened and we somehow managed to get out the door on time and go and pick up Peter Chats then drove up to where the girls had had their hair and makeup done.
From there we drove out to the park where we met Abby, who guided us around the park taking lots of nice photos. Beth managed to trip over everything that was available to trip over and bashed her knee about 42 seconds into the photoshoot but luckily it wasn't too bad and she managed to carry on like a solider. Theo took every instruction literally so "Let's see a smile" and "Show us your teeth" means that we ended up with heaps of photos of Theo with his fingers either in his mouth or pointing at his mouth. Amongst them all there are a heap of lovely photos, it's a great idea Sarah had and I'm really glad that she organised it for us.
Big wave and hello to my mate Chris who is recovering from having his stomach FREAKIN' REMOVED! Stupid Cancer. At least he's on the mend now.
Written Sunday Night
Phew! I'm stuffed! I got up on the ladder this afternoon to look at the drains and thought "I'll just make sure they're clean". Guess what, they weren't clean. They were a nightmare, full of leaves and water and crap. No wonder we'd had problems with mozzies of late, they've had a super deluxe mozzie pool to breed in. After a couple of hours I got them all nice and clean again, but given that it's the middle of Autumn it was probably a dumb time to do it, they'll just be all clogged up again in a week. At least they're clean for the moment and I sort of got on top of the problem, mostly what I cleaned out wasn't leaves it was soil, the leaves had long since broken down a few years ago!!! Whoopsie.
Have some big changes going into the S network tomorrow night, quite nervous about that. Always live in fear that I've cocked something up somewhere, even though I have double and triple checked my work there's still a lot of room for error. Fingers crossed it goes well. These things shouldn't stress me out but they do.
It was the Duck Race today. We got all packed up (it was freezing) and headed out there, we just made it in time after some terrible navigation from me (I was going to the place where the Duck Race was held.... in 2014. Ooops) We arrived just as the duck set off down the river, Theo thought it was all very exciting, so did Beth but Theo seemed to enjoy it more. After the race went to get a coffee where we of course bumped into Holly, Adrian, Joseph and Isla. We stood around for ages to hear who the winner duck had been, they really dragged the whole thing out. It wasn't us, dammit and it was ~3 numbers away from Holly and Adrian's number! Alas. As soon as the winner was announced everyone left in almost a stampede. It was super freezing cold though.
Saturday we didn't do much, it was wet and miserable. Theo had a good sleep though so he was all ready for his afternoon swim and he did a great job.
Oh yea and during the week I (obviously) went down to Wellington. Didn't get heaps done, but caught up with everyone and everything I had to do. Back to work tomorrow, joy.
Oh yes have been riding to work when I can - it's good exercise. Apart from the little problem with the bike where the chain spazed out I've been doing quite well. I tried heaps last weekend to fix the derailer but I couldn't do it, in the end I took it to the bike shop and they only charged me $25 to fix it. I guess it was a simple fix, but I couldn't figure it out. Takes me about 25 minutes each way to get to/from work, I am trying to get a bit faster each week.
