Anzac Day
We had a nice weekend, the weather wasn't too bad. Couldn't be bothered doing any Fiejoas though after most of them blew down in the cyclone the weekend before.
Saturday the kids and I drove to the pool centre to get a bunch of chemicals to stop it going green. Heaps of leaves and other crap had blown into it and it was starting to turn. The pool centre visit was pretty funny, Beth marched in and loudly introduced us "This is my little brother Theo and my name is Bethany". The pool lady then spent all her time talking and playing with them, another lady had to come and help me instead. Once home and my two assistants had helped get the pool sorted, I put Theo to bed then Beth and I went to get some breakfast.
In the afternoon we took the kids for a visit to Marine Parade and they rode their bikes along the path until we got to Lick This where we stopped in for an icecream.
Sunday morning was Mackenzies birthday party. Both children, in fact ALL the children there were so well behaved. For a 2yos party it was quite amazing to see all the kids waiting patiently, not having tanties etc. It was a very nice little party and everyone had a good time. Beth was especially funny once she'd eaten all her cake and started announcing loudly to anyone that would listen that she'd finished. Eventually I think someone relented and gave her another slice.
Sunday afternoon we went to Anderson Park to go for a little train ride. Ours was packed with excitement when we derailed coming across one of the switchpoints. We didn't tip over or anything, just stopped for a minute while a few old fellas came to investigate what had gone wrong.
After the train ride we played in the park for an hour or so. Everyone had a great time, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.
Anzac Day we just had a quiet morning, I did a bit too cleaning up around the house while the children grizzled their faces off about everything it was possible to grizzle about. After Theo had a sleep Peter and Mary took them out for the afternoon at the museum while Sarah and I went out for a late lunch at Milk and Honey.
The kids returned and everyone was fed and put to bed. Wednesday morning Beth told me about "When the ground is shaking, what's that called again?" She was of course referring to Earthquakes which is something they'd learned about at the museum the day before. Thankfully it doesn't seem to have given her nightmares or anything.
Now I'm currently flying down to Wellington for a couple of days.
