Boozing on Bikes
Saturday just gone was Adrian's birthday and Holly organised for a bunch of us to go on one of those winery tours. So Saturday morning after getting the kids to help sell Feijoas for a while we were picked up by the taxi (thanks Grandma for looking after them) and off we went. We got our bikes and rode out to Te Awanga winery which luckily just happened to have a fundraiser on that day which meant live music! We had a couple of nice cold pints in the sun and some pizzas, before riding on to the next winery, staying there for an hour or so and then heading to Elephant Hill. Elephant Hill was very flash, but still fun. We got a call that Beth wasn't feeling well though, so Sarah and I rode our bikes back to the tour place and Peter very kindly picked us up and bought us back home. We said goodbye to Grandma, cooked the termites some dinner and then headed off to bed myself (after falling asleep on the couch while Beth was watching her pre-bed TV show)
Sunday the kids helped me pick up Feijoas again and put them in the bags, we sold a few more which was good. We went out to the Puketapu town fair, which was awesome! Lots of silly stalls (Sarah and I both sucked at "Whack a Rat!"), a carousel which Beth didn't seem to enjoy, lollies etc. The only problem was that neither child seemed to want to be there, so after an hour of grizzling and whinging we gave up and came back home. Both kids then went to bed for ~2.5 hours, so no wonder they had their grizzle on. During that time I got down the back and cleared out a lot of the low-lying Feijoa tree branches, so now it's easy to walk under the trees and collect them.
Got a new phone last week, so did Sarah. She got a brand new iPhone 7 and I got a brand new Google Pixel. It's just like my old phone really, except smaller and isn't dog slow. It also has an excellent, fast camera. So a worthwhile upgrade really. And now I've put some custom software on my old phone it's a lot faster too, which means I can leave it around the house like a sort of mini-iPad. I'm just so glad to have a phone with a camera I can rely on, the old one used to take ~10 seconds sometimes from when I wanted it to take a photo to when it actally did, so I missed lots of great kiddy photos. Not anymore!
Theo is starting to use his words more and more. Last night we were explaining that Daddy doesn't like it when he bangs his water loudly on the table. He just grinned and said to Sarah "I Like!". i.e. it's a fun game for him, thanks very much. Beth was so tired when she got home from kindy yesterday that she took herself straight off to bed. Which meant that Sarah and I got a bit of time to play with Theo just by himself, which he loved. We played with the lego bricks, he really loves them, way more than Beth every did. We built little towers and broke them and rebuilt them. But eventually it was time for bed, which caused a lot of upset screaming for about 3 minutes before he conked out, exhausted. Hope that Beth's alright, she must still be getting over the tummy bug thing she had last week, she's been very tired the last few days as last night shows. She's been sleeping for ~13 hours now, I will have to go and wake them both up soon to get ready for the day. It's super wet and rainy here today, we're getting the tail end of Cyclone Debbie.
OK time for some more coffee and starting the day...
