7 Years! (What day did we get married again?)
Oh dear, two weeks without an update. Whoopsie.
Well, it was Happy Anniversary (7 years) for us last week. We were both a bit hopeless, Sarah thought it was on the Monday (the 5th, though she knew the date was the 6th) while for some reason my brain had totally malfunctioned and I thought the date itself was the 10th (Friday!) I even organised Mary to come and look after the kids on the Friday night so that Sarah and I could go out for dinner.
Which is what we did in the end anyway, we used the voucher I got for my 40th Birthday and we went to the Mission for a lovely dinner. Thanks Mary for looking after the little terrors. We didn't do a lot else exciting last weekend, it was raining a lot. In fact during the week it rained so much I got up on the roof and cleared out the gutters, because I was sick of the rain leaking onto the front porch. For ages I've thought it was a hole in the gutters but turns out it was just the downpipe itself being blocked up with heaps of crap. Once I cleared that out all the leaking seemed to stop. I got up there again last Saturday and gave everything a really good clean out, cutting back heaps of the wistera while I was up there, making a huge pile of greenwaste. So this week I also decided to get a greenwaste bin. YES THAT'S HOW EXCITING MY LIFE IS NOW I AM EXCITED BECAUSE I HAVE A GREENWASTE BIN. I jammed heaps of stuff in there too, I had to get on the ladder and get into the bin and jump up and down on it.
We're looking after Rusty at the moment, Holly, Adrian and the children have gone to Australia for a little holiday. Rusty seems to like it here, though I expect he's a bit confused as to why he's not getting anywhere near as much exercise as he usually would. Beth and I took him for a quick walk last night, and last weekend we took him for a long walk in one of the local parks which he loved. Beth loves walking him. And Theo loves him too: "Rust He! Rust He!" he calls out with excitement everytime he seems him.
Flew down to Wellington last week for my Annual Review. I always get nervous at my Annual Review, I don't know why because I think I'd done a good job and my two bosses both said exactly that in the interview. This year I went in prepared (After some discussion with Sarah) about what I'd like, and the discussion went well. I am really lucky working for Prophecy, we do interesting stuff, have flexible hours and understanding people. Sure it has some rough moments too when there's work to be done at 9pm and that sort of stuff, but overall it works out pretty well. Especially because I can live in Napier while I do it. I had to help interview someone yesterday and they asked about what it's like working for Prophecy and I found myself soudning like an advertising person! Oh well, I do like it, so I wasn't being dishonest.
What else did we do last weekend? Not a real lot, like I said it was raining quite a lot. Oh on Sunday we had Peter and Mary over for dinner which was nice, though Beth couldn't really handle towards the end and everyone had to be put into bed because they were knackered. Beth's been quite difficult of late and Sarah did a bit of reading and research about it and apparently too much TV can cause kiddies to get like that. Not that we think she'd been having too much TV, but it's been cut right back again now to just something to watch to calm down before bedtime. And it really seems to have worked, when I've gotten home the last few days she's been "Hello Daddy did you have a nice day?" instead of staring at the TV refusing to speak to me. Even Theo seems to be a little bit happier too, probably because his Sister is being nicer to him. Speaking of Theo, it's 7:10am and he's wide awake in his room now, calling out for me to go and get him so I should do that. He woke up at 5am upset as all getout about something, a bad dream or the fact his nappy was really wet, I don't know what.
Today is Beer Appreciation Day at Havelock North, looking foward to that. It looks like it might be a nice day Weather wise too which is good.
