Fixing A Leak

Submitted by TiM on

While we were swimming on Sunday I went to pickup a brick that'd fallen into the pool during Winter when I was using it to hold the pool cover in place. As I was picking it up it slipped out of my hand and fell back down. The way it landed didn't look good and when I looked at the spot where it'd landed, it looked like there was a hole. Hard to tell when you're swimming though, so I just let it go.
Until Monday morning when I got up and saw the water was already down about 5cm from where it'd been the day before. Oh dear.
I rang up the pool centre and asked them, they said "Oh yes we have a patch for that, it even works underwater" which is a bonus because I didn't fancy draining 20,000L of water somewhere. Though that being said it was just going to slowly leak out of the hole anyway.
Sarah went and got the patch for me during the day, amazingly it was only $16! These sorts of things are usually super expensive. When I got home and after putting Theo to bed, Beth and I went outside and I diving into the pool (with a LOT of commentry by Beth. Is it fixed yet Daddy? Can I see the hole? Arrrgh I'm getting wet Daddy, stop splashing me etc). After a bit of faffing around, the patch was applied.
And it worked! 24 hours later the water is still at the same level. Phew.

Went down to Wellington yesterday for the day to meet our latest Project Manager. Man we burn through them. Was a good day, everyone came out for lunch which was nice.

Time to go and get Beth/Theo up I think!
