Sunday Afternoon - Time for a Swim!
Sunday afternoon sitting on the couch. I've just finished mowing the lawn down Gordon Street. The poor lawn mower, since we hired Bo to do our normal lawns, it's seen very little use. It took me about 20 pulls to get it started yesterday, though since then it's fired up no worries the couple of times I've gone to use it. Theo helped me mow down the side, riding around on his little trike. He loves his trike so much, he goes everywhere on it now.
This morning was Isla's Birthday party, up at Taradale park. We had a lovely time, Theo even had a little power snooze before we went so he was happy, Beth was happy too though the sugar and the excitement meant that she was more than ready for bed by the time we got back. I've just put Theo down again too, he didn't want to have a sleep before but the 30 minutes of triking around while I mowed the lawn has finally knackered him out.
Might be the day for the first swim of the season I think! All that work keeping the damn pool blue over Winter has to pay off, right?
Oh yes, last night was Firecracker night! We bought some fireworks and went around to Holly and Adrian's. Theo wouldn't sleep, so we played with him for ages while it was getting dark. Once it finally got dark we actually managed to get him to sleep, 2 hour later than usual. Beth wasn't all that keen on the fireworks, even the Sparklers scared her to death. But eventually we got her to play with one and she enjoyed it. I gave her another one and she was having a great time with it. I turned my back for a second to light one for grandma and, oh dear, Beth had grabbed the glowing red ember bit with her finger. Ouch! Poor little girl! She knew not to touch the bright sparkly bit but didn't know not to touch the red glowing bit. Silly Daddy! So that didn't help a lot with the enjoyment of fireworks. She liked seeming them go off "far away" but didn't like the bangs and wizzes and wooshes of them up close. Everyone else enjoyed them, though they're pretty lame these days.
Poor Beth though, when we got home Sarah had to answer all her questions about the fireworks "They won't come inside? They can't come inside, even the green ones?". Hopefully next year she might enjoy them a bit more.
Been another few days in New Plymouth this week, glad that's over and done with. I think everything's been done that needed to be done, so we can move on with the project now. At least that's the theory. Will be nice to have a "normal" week this week, though that being said I am heading to Wellington for the day on Tuesday. Oh boy.
I'm sure lots else has happened... But I can't think what it is, so I'm going to go and get the pool ready so that when Beth wakes up we can go for a nice swim!
