40th Birthday Bash

Submitted by TiM on

Wow, so much has happened since my Birthday. Well, maybe not heaps, but there's been a lot going on and I haven't written about it! Argh.
At the moment Theo is in his high chair, he had a terrible night waking up every hour from about 1am onwards. He had a massive temperature as well, I had to give him both Pamol and then a bit later on some Neurofen to help keep him cool. Even then he was a little space heater. I had a terrible night's sleep of course, basically I only got 3 hours because just as I'd drift back off to sleep Theo would wake up again, so I'd go down and sing to him and give him some milk etc etc until he finally relaxed enough to go back to sleep. It was a very hard night for everyone.
Today I stayed at home from work, too tired to think properly. Tried to have a sleep in the morning but Theo kept waking up and then just as I was finally drifting off to sleep someone knocked on the door as loudly as possible. It always happens.

So my 40th Birthday Bash was great, a massive thanks to everyone that turned up, especially those people who snuck all the way here from Australia, Auntie Leanne, Dad, Mum, Bill and Jeremy. Great to see everyone. We had some great costumes on the night too, Captain Cook (Bill), Steve Irwin (Jeremy), Mr Squiggle (Mum), Dame Edna Everage. The party was really good, thank you to my lovely wife for organising it and getting all the food and drinks and everything. We all had a great time, eventually everyone ended up outside around the fire pit talking until the wee hours of the morning. I think we called it a night about 2am or so, which was pretty impressive.

Gosh so much has happened. A couple of weekends ago we just had rain, rain rain. Then the power went out, first at about 2am->5am, then from about 11am->3pm. We had to heat some milk on the fire when the power was out, and I forget to let Sarah know how hot it was and she burnt her hand quite badly on the milk jug. Thankfully the burn wasn't really really bad, it didn't stop her from being able to type or do anything. I felt so stupid for not telling her how hot it was! I had to cut the pump over to just bore pressure so that we could run lots of cold water over it. It was a pretty miserable day all around given how wet it was.

Had to wave goodbye to Mum on Sunday just gone, she headed home earlier than expected because Bill isn't feeling too great. We just gave her a call then on Facetime to say hi and shoe her how sad Theo has been. Since I started writing this story Sarah has taken him up the Dr and back, the Dr was very impressed with what good spirits he was in given how badly he's got it! He's got an infection in each ear, a throat infection and chest infection too. He's rasping really badly when he breathes. He's got a temp. But he's (mostly) happily crawling around the place. I just put him down for his third sleep today, which he obviously wanted. He couldn't handle talking to Mum anymore on Facetime, he just lost it. Beth's just got back from daycare and we're both watching Peppa Pig on the TV. Well, Beth's watching it while I type this up.

Next Door have sold their house, so they're off. We'll miss Ricki, Mandy, Sam and Luca. Sam very kindly bought over an old box of dollies and babies, which Beth of course loves totally. She's got a new "Baby Bethany" and "Baby Theo". We tried to get her to give them slightly more interesting names but those are the ones that she came up with and they've stuck.

What else? Jeremy was here for a week, it was nice to catch up with him. He took his hire car for a few days and drove up to The Mount to see the sights.

I'm sure I've missed lots else, but this will do for this update. I'll try and cram some more into the next!

Tim
