Hello From Fiji
Hello from Fiji. We arrived yesterday after waving goodbye to everyone at the little Napier Airport. We always seem to be at that airport, someone is alwayss coming or going. I'd been there earlier in the week because I flew down to Wellington on Monday for 2 days, back on Tuesday. Though because of flight delays I didn't get into Wellington until nearly 2:30pm instead of 11am like I was supposed to. Thus I missed out on the main reasons for going which was catching up with our customer and then one of our suppliers. Oh well you can't do much about it. At least our flight to Fiji was only delayed by an hour or so, so we made it to our hotel by about 6pm.
I've had a cold the last week so the flying yesterday was really painful, my ears kept playing up really badly, especially my left one. When we got to Fiji it was fully blocked and in lots of pain, it remained that way all night but thankfully this morning decided it would unblock (mostly) when I yawned. That's made the whole holiday ever so much more enjoyable, being unable to hear and be in pain isn't the best way to enjoy a nice hot sunny holiday.
We haven't done a lot since we got here, which is pretty much the point. Last night we went up to the resturant and had dinner there, we got a really lovely Tuna Salad, but it was very spicy so a bit hard for Sarah to eat. This morning we got up latish (8am) and went to the bakery for breakfast, then went to find a spot to sit by the pool. Bastards here all "book" a sunlounger even though it's not even 8:30am and no one is sitting on them, but they all have towels and books and all those sorts of things to claim a lounger. I had to be one of those people but tomorrow morning I'll be there bright and early to claim ours. What a load of crap it is though! Anyway we eventually found a spot by the kiddies pool and hung out there for the morning, Sarah went for a bit of a swim while I just read my book. We had some lunch, went for a swim and then came back to the room for a snooze. It's been nice and relaxing that's for sure.
We miss the kids, of course. Mum is looking after them and by all accounts they're having a great time and not really missing us at all. But we keep wondering what Theo or Beth would be doing now etc. But that said it IS nice to be able to have a snooze on the bed anytime I want and not worry about "the 'mote" making a noise and waking me up, or having to find things to entertain them. So it's good in that way. And I'm sure Granny is having a great time looking after them, she sounded pretty happy when I rang before to say a quick hello and see how it was all going.
I'm prety much fully recovered from my surgery. The only pain I get sometimes is when I'm asleep and I twist around to turn over, that tends to cause a bit of pain. But apart from that it's all healing up very nicely, no grief at all.
Ok, enough words typing on this mini bluetooth keyboard. Time to go up to the bar for a drink or something.
