Satan the Fly Killer

Submitted by TiM on

I forgot to mention yesterday that I brought myself a Venus Fly Trap on Saturday. "Satan" as I like to call it has already munched about 3 flys out of existance.

Mum and Auntie Leanne are now famous, with the following article having appeared in the Burnie Advocate (the height of quality papers!)

Off two the top of the world

Yesterday she climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge and tomorrow she leaves Australia to walk halfway up the world's highest mountain.

Burnie Leanne Bonney will be living a dream over the next month, as she travels to Mt Everest base camp, about 5600 meters above sea level.

Mrs Bonney and here sister, Sydney's Sallee Harman, enjoyed the challenge yesterday of walking along the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a three hour jaunt.

And tomorrow the pair will be on their way to Nepal to face a much bigger one, as they join a group for a 30 day trek to Klapattaa, located just above the Everest base camp.

The trip has been an ambition of the mother of two for some years. And on Wednesday she was excited about finally bringing it to life.

I turn 40 in May and I thought I'd really like to achieve something when I do, Mrs Bonney said of here motivation.

"I think if you've got a dream in mind and it's possible you should put your effort and time into achieving it".

Fascinated by Everest, she admitted she was a little nervous about the trip, and even if they were only climbing just half way up the mountain.

"altitude sickness is a bit of a worry, that's why we are spending eight days acclimatising along the way," Mrs Bonney said.

"It's certainly going to be different. I know it's going to be freezing.
