Trip to Wellington
Well I've just gotten back from a 2 day trip down to good old Windy Wellington. It's name isn't a joke, it seriously blows its tits off there for what seems like the whole day.
The purpose of this little flight down to Wellington was for a big meeting with our new manager, his manager, and some HR people to discuss our currently problems and concerns, and the new direction for the future.
If everything that was discussed happens, then I think everything will be funky. It'll definetly be a case of wait and see though, it's easy to make lots of noise but then have nothing happen still.
We went out for drinks after the big meeting (of course) which was nice. We went to some really dodgy chinese resturant, and everyone was giving the waitress crap. She could hardly speak a word of english, and knew only the standard "you want drink, you want food?" type of stuff. Elephant beer. Now there's a beer. It's 8.6%, very very tasty, and imported by those marvellous people J.Boag and Son. Try one today. After dinner at the chinese place the few of us that were left went along to Molly Malones, which is a cool Irish pub in Wellington. Andy was playing in the band there, so we sat up the front and cheered loudly. They were really good too, if Irish music is your thing. Finally we staggered back to our hotel at some ungodly hour...
It seems that going away pretty much guarantees that things will fuckup back home! There were some problems in the core of our network yesterday, and in the course of tracking them down we turned off all machines. So my webpage was done for a while, but if you're reading this it's back now. And the network problem? Well, it was a Layer 8 problem...
I've got pretty much all my crap packed up into boxes now, ready for the move this weekend. It's amazing the amount of stuff I've picked up since I got here, there is actually quite of a lot of it. A few trips in Adams station wagon should get it all up there though.
Bed Time!
