Well the big news (is it big? Maybe not) is that I ran 30km today! Thirty Freaking Kms! It's only 4 more than I did a couple of weeks ago but it was a huge metal barrier that I'm glad I've done now. I was actually shaking and a bit nervous when I left this morning, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do it. But I did. It was hard going, especially towards the end. Luckily I had my phone (and my watch) which has paywave on it, so 23km in I quickly stopped at the Z petrol station and bought myself a Poweraid. Filled up my running bottles on my belt and drank the rest. It was very cold and I nearly chucked it right back up on the forecourt, but managed not to. And then yea, made it all the way down Taradale road and back up the bike track to home. Beth and Theo came running out to greet me which was pretty neat.
What else! Last weekend Sunday afternoon we went to the School Fete. Beth was at Gwen's party, so it was just the three of us. Theo had a great time, glad to get to hang out with us without his sister. He had his wallet full of a few coins from all the Feijoa sales and was very excited to be able to pay for things. I mean he has no clue what money is, but he enjoyed opening it up and giving people the coins in exchange for things. First of all he had a go on the bouncy castle area (didn't really enjoy it) then we got something to eat. He took a turn on the flying horse merry-go-round thing, he was the only rider on it. Then we got him some candy floss that he was so excited about, but as soon as he bit it you could tell he wasn't a fan. Bless him, he had a few more bites because we'd made such a big deal about it and he'd watched it being made, but he didn't like the flavour or the fact it just melted away into nothing. Alas. Then he had a turn on the dig up a treasure thing where you pulled a icecream stick out of the sand and won a prize, he won some playdough which was pretty perfect for him. He got a ballon animal that he named builder and damn, he loved that thing all week! Holly gave us a call and said "Come out to Brave" so we went out there for lunch which was nice. The kids spent most of their time playing a game they have there where you've got to throw little filled bags through a hole in a board. Very odd game, kids loved it.
We went back home, Theo and I did more Feijoas and stuff around the house. Sarah went to get Beth.
What else happened this week...
Oh Beth created the loveliest little drawing one morning, it's Animals that are friends with other animals. The little detail on each animal are just so cute, I actually went and got the bit of paper laminated on Thursday so that we can keep this one forever. I'm glad I filmed her explaining all the animals too. So cute. Theo loves to help in the kitchen at night, I took a great video of him stirring the sauce then getting worried because it got "All Blobby". Very funny. Otherwise it's been a good week, I went for a run Tuesday morning and then Friday morning, I had a bit of a cold during the week and I didn't feel like running Wednesday or Thursday like I should have.
Friday was the end of the first term, Beth got a certificate for being curious and always asking interesting questions in class. Saturday we had pancakes for breakfast then Theo really got stuck in helping me load up Feijoas and then getting them out to sell, I think we sold ~$60 worth yesterday, or close to it. Then he helped me stack some wood in the woodshed, while Beth was at her friend Emily's party. Oh yes, Friday morning Theo's balloon "Builder" (from the Fete) popped and he was just so, so sad. He had carried it around all week and it wasn't a balloon to him, it was a friend. So that was a bit sad. So I went and bought a Balloon Animals kit on Friday, which gave them both something else to do Saturday afternoon with Sarah. After a bit of that I took them into town, giving a huge box of Feijoas to Bistronomy, in return for some of their Chocolate Balls. I loved them, Beth enjoyed them, Theo didn't like the taste of the chocolate! Then we went to the Library to pick out some books, then went and got a few slices of pizza from Vinci's, the greatest Pizza Shop in the Universe.
Theo has a new Big Bae! But it's not big! Sarah cleverly cut a strip off the bottom of new big bae (Theo's aware there's two big baes and doesn't seem bothered) and made it a "Kindy Bae". He's allowed to have it at Kindy, because with it he'll go down for a sleep/rest. We weren't sure he'd take to it, but it seems to have taken to it no worries. It's got a label, of course, so he seems to think it's the greatest thing ever. So that's good, because Big Bae is just too big for kindy, but Kindy Bae is the perfect size. I mean not needing any damn Bae would be better, but we're not quite there yet.
And so here we are Sunday! As I mentioned I went for my big uber run, then we went out the 3 wise birds for a burger and a beer. Or some ribs and cider. Then we went to Rush Munroe's for Icecream which of course the kids loved, especially because there's a big fishpond in there too you can look at and enjoy the fish swimming around. Then we came back home and I had a power nap for an hour cause I was knackered, then we had dinner and bed! Now I'm typing this and about to go to bed myself.
Oh yes Biscuit. Biscuit is good, but he really really REALLY needs more work on his jumping up. It's mental. He gets so excited he bowls the kids over now, which isn't cool at all. It's hard not to get angry with him (and I fail sometimes!) and annoying when he pulls all the stuffing out of the stuff we give him to keep him warm at night. Anyway once the Marathon training is over I'll have more time to walk him and help him burn off energy etc. He's a lovely dog and wants to do good, but he's just got that skitzo labrador brain.
