Christmas Day + Boxing Day

Submitted by TiM on

First of all, here's Beth disco dancing like a diva!

Once Beth woke up on Christmas Day I got her out of bed and plonked her into her chair. I made her a nice breakfast of some rice bubbles, yoghurt and some blueberries. Yum! But she wouldn't eat it. Uh-oh. So I went back to the default of Weetbix. Wouldn't eat those either. Double uh-oh, she's never really refused Weetbix before. After a lot of cajoling and Sarah helping, we finally got her to eat some toast and a bit of fruit. We packed the car in a hurry (already running late) and went around to Peter and Mary's.

Sarah cooked breakfast while we wrangled children, looked at presents and chatted. Breakfast was lovely, Croissants, Bacon, Eggs, Salmon etc. All the usual tasty Christmas Morning things. Joseph ran around with his "Bubble Gun", the most awesome thing every, a...

Merry Christmas 2014

Submitted by TiM on

Merry Christmas Everyone! Tui's mogging around, the birds are chirping and it looks like it's going to be a fantastic day in the bay. The sun is shining! The weather report says that it's going to be sunny all day too which is good, better get the sunscreen on and the beer in the fridge.

Sunday night I went to pickup Dad and Sandra from the airport. As I left I checked the landing time on the Air New Zealand website and it said the flight had taken off and was due to land at 6:50pm. So I took Beth, who'd had a couple of good sleeps during the day along as well. When I got there I found out it wasn't going to to land until 7:20pm. In reality, it didn't land until 10 minutes after that even! Not really a problem except I had Beth, I didn't have...

Tapas

Submitted by TiM on

We went out for Tapas last night. We were given a gift voucher last year for Deliciosa and it expired at the end of this year, so we just snuck in. Mary came and looked after Beth (who was already alseep) and we had a lovely meal. People have been saying to us how good the food is, so we were expected it to be pretty good, so it's always nice when your expectations are exceeded! Really lovely food and not too badly priced either. The only downer was I'd booked the night before, but when we got there they couldn't find the booking! At least the lady remembered taking my booking the night before, so they found us a table outside.

Beth's back to her happy self, her nose seems to be heeling up quickly. She doesn't really crawl anymore, everywhere is walking now. She's learnt to count! At...

Sore Nose

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah picked Beth up from daycare yesterday and found her with a big cut on her nose. Poor little chicken, she fell down on the contrete while running around. She was pretty upset all afternoon, didn't want dinner, didn't have a sleep during the day. We just bathed her and put her to bed, which she really wanted. She usually likes staying in the bath until I decide it's time to get out, but this time she kept putting her arms up in the air ("Arms up Beth!") to show she wanted out NOW.

Poor little monster. We know these things are going to happen and it's all part of learning, but it's still very sad to see your daughter's face a bit scratched up and her very upset. I hope she has a good sleep in and wakes up happy this morning.

Christmas at the Park

Submitted by TiM on

We went to Christmas at the Park last night. It was sadly a dark, cloudy night ready to rain, but we went away as it wasn't raining yet. Beth had a great time running around everywhere. They had kites flying and she loved those, she kept pointing and going "Plane! Plane!".
We met up with some of the other parents from out Antenatel group, but I didn't really get much of a chance to talk to them as I was mostly watching Beth as she'd run off. She run and walked everywhere, she had such a good time. Sarah had given her a Strawberry and she carried that all over the place too, whenever she dropped it she'd pick it up again. It was a comfort thing more than a piece of food, every time it was dropped on to the ground it was picked up, dusted off and carried...

Injections Escaped!

Submitted by TiM on

Beth was supposed to have her 15 month vaccinations today, but when they took her temperature beforehand she had a 38c temp, so they said we'd have to bring her back next week when she's not so hot. It's not a major fever, but she was right on the edge so they didn't do it.

Poor chicken, she seems to have had a temp or a snotty nose or just something not right for the past 3 weeks. She's fine otherwise though, but quite tired. She had a bit afternoon snooze today, we had to go and wake her up...

Tree Installation, Tree Removal

Submitted by TiM on

I got back from Wellington on Friday afternoon, thankfully the AirNZ Plane was still on time for a Friday after (a bit rare). A little someone was standing at the airport window waiting for me as I walked across the tarmac, took her a while to realise it was me but when she did her little eyes lit up and she had a huge smile.

It was a lovely to see Sarah and Beth again. In only the 3 days I'd gone it was obvious that Beth was ever better at walking again, able to get where she wanted to now without it being a huge effort. She's got really bad pain from teething at the moment, we put her to bed about 7pm but she didn't stop grizzlign in her cot until 8pm, that's very late for her to go to sleep.

But that also meant that she didn't...

In Wellington

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah took Beth to Plunket yesterday for her checkup. She's doing fine, weighs 10.1kg and has a lot more than the "couple of words" they asked if she had.

I'm currently sitting in my hotel in Wellington. I flew down yesterday morning, for a bit of a whirlwind tour of a new customer who I'll be doing work for. I'm super happy, as I seem to have caught some sort of lurgie on the plane yesterday so have this really annoying cough that won't go away. So frustrating. Mark picked me up from the airport yesterday and I went into the Prophecy offices for a bit, then headed off to the new customer's offices were I got walked around and introduced to lots of people who's names I tried valiantly to remember. I had a pretty good day, they already have a laptop setup for me so I can work...

Lots of Progress!

Submitted by TiM on

Today Beth really seems to be on the progress path! I got home and she's basically walking everywhere. Of course, she's falling on her butt a lot too, but that doesn't phase her at all, up she gets again and keeps walking. She toddled all around the lounge, up and down the hallway, over to washing machine.
She's also getting really good with her words, she can say her own name now "Feff!" and loved playing the "Open! Closed!" game with the cupboards and drawers in her room tonight. She was trying really hard to say Open and Closed. She's getting a lot better at being able to communicate to us what she wants to happen, Nigh Nigh (bed), Baff (Bath) etc. Doesn't always work of course, but Sarah said she was really happy with herself when she managed to make it clear she wanted some milk and a "nigh...

That Damn Cat

Submitted by TiM on

She's gotten really bad at bringing birds into the porch area. But she hasn't killed them, so they get loose (I guess because she only has half her teeth) and fly around the porch, shitting on everything and making a huge mess. The reason I am up at 6am today is because at 5:30am some poor victim started to chirp/screetch its little beak off. So I got out of bed and rescued it from behind the cat box where it'd ended up. At least this one was able to fly away well enough. Sometimes when I throw them up in...
