Stormy

Submitted by TiM on

Well, the last story was posted when we were sunning ourselves on Tokoriki. Since getting back to Napier last Thursday it's been about 2c maximum the whole time! We've kept the fire going pretty much whenever we're awake because it's been so cold.

Our last night on Tokoriki was our seafood dinner night. It was very tasty, even for me not liking seafood much. Then I got a little "Happy Birthday" song and cake and all that jazz, it was pretty cool. But I couldn't eat my cake having just had a 3 course seafood dinner thingy. The next morning we packed up ready to check out, but they were nice enough to let us stay in our room until 2pm or so, because the ferry wasn't coming to get us until 3. We did a bit more snorkelling straight off the beach, even though it was low tide we...

Hello From Tokoriki Island

We're here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=loc:-17.575798,177.088776

It's amazing. The staff all know our name (freaky) and are very friendly and lovely. The resort is amazing. We had Tepenaki last night for dinner, which included a game called Shelly loves. What a fun game that was. Sarah and I got the answer very quickly, it took the other two couples quite a while before they figured out what Shelly does and doesn't like.

We arrived here yesterday by ferry. That's how the poor people arrive. We keep seeing all the rich people arrive by helicopter. And leaving by helicopter. Regardless of how we got here, it's still amazing. There's an infinity pool looking out over the sea, free afternoon tea with amazing cakes and the food is fabulous. It'd want to be for the price. Still, it's not every week you get to travel away with no children.

We've just got back from Snorkelling...

Leaving Denarau

Submitted by TiM on

We've checked out of our Hilton Hotel and are just waiting for the bus to take us to the Marina so we can be ferried off to Tokoriki Island.
We've had a really nice time here, we went for a swim in the Ocean yesterday and we tried paddleboarding. It's not for us, too hard to always be keeping your balance.
Have had a few texts from Mum letting us know the midget contingent are doing well. Everyone else here has their kids and it really makes me realise how much I miss them and their silly questions and all that. We'll see them soon enough though and they're in good hands with Granny.
Enough Interneting, time to catch the bus.

Hello From Fiji

Submitted by TiM on

Hello from Fiji. We arrived yesterday after waving goodbye to everyone at the little Napier Airport. We always seem to be at that airport, someone is alwayss coming or going. I'd been there earlier in the week because I flew down to Wellington on Monday for 2 days, back on Tuesday. Though because of flight delays I didn't get into Wellington until nearly 2:30pm instead of 11am like I was supposed to. Thus I missed out on the main reasons for going which was catching up with our customer and then one of our suppliers. Oh well you can't do much about it. At least our flight to Fiji was only delayed by an hour or so, so we made it to our hotel by about 6pm.

I've had a cold the last week so the flying yesterday was really painful, my ears kept playing up really badly, especially my...

Recovering Well

Submitted by TiM on

Ugh, everyone woke up too early this morning! Beth had a sore leg at 5:30am, then just as I was getting off to sleep at 5:50am, Theo decided he was going to wake up and start laaaaing. I got him up, gave him a bottle and have put him back down for a bit more of a sleep. Otherwise he's going to be totally knackered during the day. Seems to have worked, I can't hear anymore noise at the moment.
I am recovering from my Gallbladder removal really well, better than I thought I would. I woke up yesterday and...

Out Out Gallbaldder!

Submitted by TiM on

I am sitting up on hospital bed after having my Gallbladder removed last night. It's gone! I have a nice bag of stones to take home with me today, so I can take them into work and hand them around for everyone's amusement. Or not as the case may be.
My check in time yesterday to hospital wasn't until 3:30pm, I was the last patient of the day. It seems the healthier you are the later they do you because you'll need less post-op treatment. Sarah bought me out to the hospital then helped me to get my sexy hospital underpants on, the to shave off all my tummy hair ready for the operation. Then it was time to walk down the corridor of no return, where I met all the surgical team briefly. Then I get the magic happy drugs and it's off to sleep time for me! Next...

Theo and Joseph's Birthday

Submitted by TiM on

It was a combined Theo and Joseph Birthday Party yesterday. Choppers is 1, though not officially until Wednesday. Joseph is 4! My home time flies. It was the typical hectic kids birthday, made even worse by the fact poor Theo has a super intense case of Nappy Rash. The worst he's ever had it, meaning he was the most upset I've ever seen him. Just tears and tears and screaming and crying, so upset he wouldn't sit down or get his bum anywhere near a floor for most of it. And every time we cleaned him up, put cream on and calmed him down, he'd then go and do another super pooper that we wouldn't realise for a while, starting the whole cycle again.
So apart from one half of the birthday party hardly ever being available for the party, it was a good day. Joseph had a good time...

Chicken Alert

Submitted by TiM on

We have another rouge chicken outside at the moment. Sarah posted a photo of it last night, when I got home and after I bathed and put Theo to bed (he loves going to bed so much!) Beth and I went outside to "Hunt for the chicken!" with our torches. We looked everywhere and I'd actually given up thinking the chicken was long gone. Just as I was walking inside I caught site of something sitting on the BBQ and sure enough there was poor ol' Mrs Chicken tucked and fluffed up for the night. We went a little bit closer and had a look, Mrs Chicken woke up and became all alarmed so we took a few steps back.
When Beth woke up this morning we quickly (It's cold!) went outside to have a look at see if Mrs Chicken was still there, which she is. Sarah put a...

Saturday Afternoon

Submitted by TiM on

It's Saturday afternoon. Beth and Theo are in bed, there was no swimming this morning so we took them into town to the playground to have some fun. They both loved it, Theo just loves going on the bouncy thing. He holds on really well with both hands and just smiles and makes happy "Ahhhhhhhhh" noises the whole time. Beth ran around and played on 20 different things in the space of 10 minutes, as she does. She also did a great "seagull" on the swings. Or seagirls as she likes to call them. We bought them home and they were both happy to go to bed which is good!
It's been a good week, both Beth and Theo have been a bit snotty (and me too for a few days) but it's just an annoying cold, not one that really knocks you out or anything. Beth's also had a...

Friday Night Napier Crusin'

Submitted by TiM on

Felt pretty cool last night. Cruising around the streets of Napier at 1:30am, checking out this, checking out that. I know everyone who saw me out in my SUV thought to themselves "Wow that guy looks pretty cool, look he's even taking his 11 month old baby out for a cruise too!" Yes, Choppers had a rough night last night. He went to bed at his usual time, but woke up a few times crying but managed to settle himself. But at 10pm or so when I snuck into his room to get the nappy cream (Beth had woken up and needed a nappy change), he woke up. At one stage there I had 2 crying children and the night really was going badly. Beth went back to sleep no worries, but ol' Choppers wasn't having a bar of it. We gave him more milk. We got him up and...
