Back at work

Submitted by TiM on

I've been off sick the last few days. It's REALLY starting to piss me off that I can't seem to go more than a month without getting sick. I've been eating good food and munching vitamin C pills like they're going out of fashion, getting lots of exercise and everything, but come Monday night I was feeling like total sh*t. I did have a pretty big weekend I suppose, and hadn't got a lot of sleep.

So I went to the Dr today and said "take lots of test damnit and find out what my major malfunction is". He doesn't think anything's wrong with me though, just reckons there are lots of nasties going around and I've had a bad run. But he took lots of blood and is going to run lots of magical tests to make sure I'm not about to keel over or anything.

So apart from...

Cats, Jobs and Moving.

Submitted by KA on

Hi all, this will be my last posting for a while as I am moving house and my monitor has died (I use my brother's while I am at home.)

It's been a strange week. Firstly I have a job, though it's not a teaching job, it's a job I really wanted to do and is very rewarding so I'm very much looking forward to starting tomorrow.

Then Buzz, the older and most favourite of my parents two cats had to be put down. Obviously this was a very sad happening but at least he is in a better place, it's awful here without him though.

I'm moving across town, away from my parents. They are wonderful people but I need to be out with people my own age and living my own life so looking forward to that and to living just down the road from my best friend...

2 Hours Sleep

Submitted by TiM on

Finally got to sleep last night at about 2:30am, and leapt up happily and full of joy at 4:30am to go into work. I could complain about being hungover and stuff, but I didn't really have that much to drink last night and anyway, I knew I had to come into work early before I went out drinking so who's fault is it anyway? Exactly. Once I've finished typing this (I'm in a ranting mood) I'm going to crawl back onto my comfy futon, turn both my phones and get some more sleep!

What about the AFL yesterday? I strapped myself onto the couch, got some beers and sat back and glued myself to the TV, fully expecting Essendon to romp home and kick the pants off the Lions. How wrong was I? The only reason Essendon were winning at half time was because the Lions kept kicking at goal...

Things to write about when I'm sober.

Submitted by TiM on

Things I am going to write about tomorrow when I am sober and it's not 1:30am in the morning.

1) The AFL Grand Final

2) Chicago, the funkiest musical on the planet

3) My night out after Chicago. Someone please stop passing me these tasty lime thingos.

I have to crawl up again in 3 hours to go to work to do stuff. Hey, they never said I had to be sober. Goodnight.

My Day Off

Submitted by TiM on

I finally found the cause of last nights rant (a faulty port on a switch) and managed to come out on top in the end. And get home at 9pm. But I got to sleep in today (if only for a little while) before my mobile phone rang me up. I'd forgotten to undivert my desk phone so anyone calling that was going to my mobile. Arrgh! Then I got called into work anyway because something else crashed.

I think this sums it up nicely:

I managed to get home at 12pm and have had a nice relaxing rest of the afternoon. It's been a perfect Auckland day (for once) so I just sat outside and plugged my guitar in. No neighbours at home so there was no one to annoy with my terrible playing and wrong notes.

Anyway, that's about all I have to say today. I just wanted...

Stuck at Penrose

Submitted by TiM on

I'm stuck out at Penrose at the moment, trying to get the network working out here so that we can all move out here shortly. Everyone back at the office doesn't want me to get the network going, because no one wants to move out to Penrose (myself included) but it's something we've known has been coming for ages. So it's a bit late to try and sabotage the project now. But I can't get the stupid network to work, although I'm sure what I'm doing is all right and perfect, it won't frikking work.

Complain bitch moan! If I don't get it work tonight I'm not going to get to have my day off tomorrow that I have planned. I told the boss I was going to have a day off to make up for Saturday (I was in here for 8 hours) and he said, yup, go ahead...

Christmas Plans

Submitted by TiM on

Managed to book myself some time off for Christmas today. I'll be coming home on the 25th of December and coming back on the 3rd of Jan. That should be plenty of time to catch up with everyone and sample plenty of Boags Premium! I have to make sure the quality levels haven't dropped at all!

It's going to cost me about $1,000 NZ, at that rate it'd be cheaper to take a 2 week holiday in Bali! I'm already looking forward to coming back so I can catch up with everyone.

Nothing much else exciting to say really. Work is still really busy because I'm the only one here. Tony will be back next week so things might return to normal then.

Joke!

A college student invited his mother over for dinner. During the

meal, his mother couldn't help noticing how beautiful his room

mate Julie was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship

between him and Julie, and this made her more curious...

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact,

she started to wonder if there was more between him and Julie

than met the eye.

Reading his mum's thoughts, he volunteered, "I know what you

must be thinking, but I assure you, Julie and I are just room mates."

About a week later, Julie came to him and said, "Ever since your

mother came to dinner, I can't find the beautiful silver tray. You don't

suppose she took it do you?"

He replied, "Well I doubt it, but I'll write her a letter just to be sure."

So he sat down and wrote:

Dear Mother, I'm...

Crap way to go out.

What a crappy way to end the Hockey Season. Today was our last game, and we lost it 8-0! What a rip off. We're all going to play the summer roster though which should be a lot of fun. It's 7 a side, half a field and really really fast paced. I'm looking forward to it already.

Yesterday I finally managed to get the fault I was looking at restored. It was pretty major, and I sure was glad when it was fixed. As where about 2000 other people too I suspect.

That's about all I have to say today. Was a nice quiet afternoon, we had a few beers at the pub after our loss, then I came home and really didn't do much at all. It's nice to have a day where I didn't really have to think about work much (only got a couple of phone calls...

I've proved my point!

As I told you yesterday, valued readers, I'm too old to drink two days in a row. I had a welcome home party last night and ...well ...I had a good time..but there was a fight, much rum, SC and peach schnapps consumed, a breakup and two people passing out.

Sounds awful when I reread it, and a good reason for me not to drink....I'm not going to be drinking for a while now, too expensive and bad for me anyway...though I'm not going as far as Tim did and not drinking for a year!!!:)

I know how Tim felt yesterday with a 'leaking' head..I amost never get hungover but I am today! Serves me right really, but I have an important dinner for a close friend tonight....

Anyway I'm going to crawl back to bed.
