A Bit Of An Update

Submitted by TiM on

It's really hard to get motivated at work after such a nice time down at Napier, especially the last 2 days which have been really nice weather, the sun streaming in the window nearly makes it all the way to my drab, dull cube.
To make matters even worse we have a new person that's started with us. This is actually a good thing, he used to work in faults and is an excellent choice to join our team, no complaints there. It's the fact we have now have to find space to squeeze him in. Then when our two new slaves arrive (we're getting some graduates) we're going to be totally squeezed in. I'm sure there's a law somewhere about how packed in you have to be before you're allowed to go legally insane and wield your stapler in ways it's not ment to be wielded.

So enough bitching about work, everyone had to do it and no one likes it.
I didn't actually go into work today anyway, I had major stomach cramps starting at about 3:30am and couldn't get back to sleep. Everytime I'd just about nod off again *mega cramp* and I'd be wide awake again. About 5am I just gave up and got out of bed, fired up my laptop and did some work stuff. I was feeling pretty crap for most of the morning, this will teach me for eating too much chilli sauce at lunch and halapenos for dinner. Come lunchtime I was feeling alright again, chilli and co having "left the building" so to speak.

Sarah and I went over to her friends Craig and Fiona's house last night. Does that make grammatical sense? We went over to watch the Rest of World take on Asia in the one day cricket match. The end of the first innings was really exciting, but everyone was falling asleep half way through the second so we went home. I wasn't sleeping though at half time when Craig took me for a scream in his porsche. Well, I wasn't screaming but we're pretty sure the people coming the other way were! Lots of fun.
The matched proved to the Kiwis just how much of a legend Ricky Ponting is, plus how much of a tosser Shane Warne is when he ran off the pitch with one ball still remaining. He probably needed a pie.

I'm excited as by my impending trip but also a little nervous, mostly because I've got stuff to fix and only a limited timeline with which to fix it. I'm sure I'll get it done, then hopefully I'll have a little bit of time to sightsee and check out LA. I went when I was little but I really don't remember heaps of it, only the highlights. I'm also worried that I might be spotted by a talent agency while I'm there and forced to model, never to be allowed to return to NZ.

I have to get the cam belt replaced on my car (they're due at 100,000kms and I've done 105,000) so I rang up for a quote. All up including parts and GST the friendly guy on the phone told me to budget for $1,000. This is the problem with having a midmounted turbocharged engine. You just can't do anything to them without all the effort of getting the motor out to work on it. Once it's done though I won't have to worry about it for another 100,000 by which time I'll have upgrade to a series 3 MR2.*

To end this story on a happy note, Oscar Chirpus is really well, he got a massive fly around today and enjoyed that. And remember the chillies Sarah bought me that I've been growing from babies? They're farking massive now, I'll have to get the digital camera over to take a picture. Still no sign of chillies, but given my story above that's probably a good thing.

It really is time for the sleeping.

Tim

*Possibly untrue.
