Phew! We just got off the truck where it's been nice and hot, that's the only weather we seem to be getting at the moment. At least this internet cafe has nice airconditioning, that makes being here and trying to remember what to type a lot easier.
Yesterday in Ölüdeniz we took a boat ride. We all piled on this big two level boat with about one hundred other tourists, mostly British, for a day long swimming and lazing in the sun extravaganza. The boat was really cool too, it had a waterslide that you get in on the top deck and it shots you out down about 4 seconds later into the Ocean.
We spent the whole day on the boat, it drove around 4 different locations and served us all up a lovely lunch. Serving that many people in such an efficent manner I thought was quite a feat of engineering. While the boat was stopped we could get off, go swimming, go on the waterslide or even jump off the top story into the Ocean. I of course freaked out when it came to jumping off the little platform they had, but I managed to do it (twice!) in the end, knowing if I didn't that I'd be hassled and teased by Jerome for days if I didn't. Both times were pretty wussy attempts, but hey.
The boat trip finished about 5:30pm so we went into town and did a bit of Internet, then went and met up with some of the others for a beer. We walked back to the campsite, both of us doing a bit of waddling because we were still wearing our salty clothes and the chaffing was painful!
We left bright and early this morning at 8am and have been on the road ever since, stopping only a few times for a pee stop and lunch. Lunch was interested, 4 resturants all in a row, basically in the middle of nowhere. They had only two things on the menu, meatballs or meatsticks. The vegetarians in our group ordered something vegetarian so for their meal they bought out the same thing we'd all be using as our dip for starters. They weren't to impressed, insteading opting for chips. Being a vego isn't something that's really understood too well in this part of the world.
Selcuk seems cool, though we've only seen it for 5 minutes before finding shelter from the heat. They have these old ruins in the middle of town, just some stone colums, on top of which these huge storks have decided to nest. The look quite funny atop the pillers with their big straw nest.
Still having lots of fun, finding all the news about the UK bombing attempts a bit scary. We've been talking to the other Australians on our tour, they've already done their UK working holiday thing. They don't paint a very rosy picture either! There's lots of work and it's fun, but they say it's hard to find good coffee and the food is pretty average. I am looking forward to curry and chips though, that does sound quite appealing in a this-can't-be-good-for-you tpye of way.

Hospital
Hi there
Glad you are still having a great time.
I'm stating the obvious, but be careful when you hit the UK - you would have heard about the new wave of terrorist bombings happening there.
Also I just want to let you know that Nan Harman is not too good at the moment - she is in hospital. Her heart is not functioning too well and they are trying to fix it.
I think she is just wearing out and may struggle to come good this time.
She continues to ask after you and "where are they now?" I will give her your love (again)when I see her tomorrow. Will keep you up with any developments.
Take extra care, lots of love to you both.
Dad (Johnnie) xxxx
