Up Early

Submitted by TiM on

I got early this morning (as I do most Friday's so I have time to remember to pack stuff for home) and went out walking to get some milk for my breakfast. Two interesting things happened.

1. I realised I might be turning into a bit more of an Aucklander than I thought. I found myself getting mildly annoyed that it was 6:30am yet no where was open so I could get a flat white.

2. I found a small baby bird on the sidewalk. It was obviously distressed and mother bird was watching over it from a distance. People were walking right past it oblivious, it was scurrying around avoiding feet. I guess you don't usually notice such things unless you're abnormal like me. Anyway I picked up baby bird and carried it a few metres and put it in a little garden nearby. He was much less distressed straight away and then mother bird came and joined it. So that was cool.

Karate last night was really good. One of the black belts said to me afterwards that I was showing obvious improvement, which is nice. Probably only because 3 weeks ago I was flailing around like a muppet. Now I have some idea what I'm doing!

Sydney tomorrow! Woohoo!

Darling,

We have done well, your Dad and I, in making you such a caring, sensitive fellow. That baby bird doesn't know how lucky he was having you walk by with your head to the ground. Better than having it stuck up your bum or in the air - your head that is....
Have a wonderful time in Sydney town, sorry we are not there to take care of you and Sarah. It would have been wonderful to have you both cook a beaut dinner and delicious dessert for us again. Sarah is a great cook and we all loved her lemon tart which she whipped up for us when staying last time. And Sarah, almost everyone has something fuzzy growing in the back of their fridge.

Hi Mother!

We've made it to Sydney! Shame the weather wasn't a bit better, have you taken it with you?

We just had dinner at a place called "Spice I Am" (well, takeaways from there), it's meant to be one of the best places in Sydney to eat. Been there?

It was pretty good anyway. Yummo.
