Building The Nest

Submitted by TiM on

Hello from "The Nest!"
Today was our first offical day here, but we rang the landlord and he didn't mind if we started to move stuff in yesterday, so we decided to do that. We got here about 11am in the morning, we walked in with our first car load and we were a little upset when we walked in, there was bits of cat hair all over the place, cat poos in a couple of corners and cat piss in a few other places. Erk. We realised the cat flap on the front door wasn't locked, so I locked it and we moved a few other things into the house. While we were standing in the bedroom suddenly Sarah screamed "Arrrrgh! Fleas!!", I looked down at her feet and was amazed at how many fleas she had on her, probably about 15 I think. This in a house with polished wooden floors!

We rang the landlord to see what he wanted to do about it, we agreed that we'd get some flea bombs and let them go in the house. So we drove down to the supermarket and got 6 flea bombs (the whole house had them) and let them off, locked the house up and went away for a couple of hours. When we came back, thankfully all the nasty fleabies were dead. We got out the vacuum, cleaned up all the dead fleabies, cleaned up the cat turdies and bits of fluff and started all over again!

After lots of moving and cleaning at my old apartment we collapsed in bed at about 1am, tired but happy! This morning we moved the final bits of stuff out of my old apartment and we moved some stuff from Sarah's place here too.

This place is SO nice (Now the fleas are gone). As I'm sitting here the sun is streaming into the loungeroom and the bedroom, Oscar's having a great time in the sun chirping. I've got a lot of unpacking to get on with, but I'm having a bit of a break at the moment. The only fridge I have is an eski with some ice in it, but it seems to be doing a good job of keeping the beers and the juice cold!

That's all from the nest! We'll post some stuff once it's a bit more organised, at the moment it's mostly boxes all over the place.

Yes plenty of room in the nest for a visit. You can either have the spare room or we can ever put you out the back in the little outhouse!

It's a proper house, it's so much better than a crappy apartment!

And by outhouse, I mean fully functioning extra room without spiders and a gross toilet. Ok maybe there are some spiders, but there are no fleas.
