Dorkland

Submitted by TiM on

Hello groover and welcome to another edition of shite.

Today I am going to tell you about how last night I had to drive out to the airport to collect some router memory, then I had to drive back into work at midnight to stick it in. Then tomorrow morning I have to get up at 4:30am to drive into work to pull one box out of the network and put another one in. You can probably tell I'm really frikking happy about this.

Finally found out that we get paid our Bonuses this weekend, Saturday it should be in the bank. I am going to put all of mine away I think, or at least most of it. I might get myself a new Palm Pilot because I miss my old one and my memory is a total pile of shite. Or maybe I just don't give a shit...

Stuff N Shit

So, what's news to tell you today. Lots I guess, but nothing really major. It's Tuesday morning and I'm sitting on the couch drinking instant coffee. But good instant coffee, not just nescafe or something ick. Not that there's anything wrong with nescafe really, but yea. God now I sound like a Yuppie, and I hate Yuppies. I'll you what I frikking hate even more is that stupid fucking monkey. People who wear that thing of their own free will should be stabbed in the eyes multiple times.

Update: Here is a large collection of people that need to be stabbed in the eyes with a blunt fork.

I'm not grumpy, really.

Last night I cooked the most fantastical hamburgers ever. There are some non believers who have tried to tell me that cooking hamburgers doesn't count as cooking tea, but when your burgers were as tasty as mine...

Even The Police Love My Car!

Submitted by TiM on

I got woken up at 8:30 this morning by the Police, asking to speak to me.

They wanted to know if I was aware my car had been broken into, because the window was down and there was lots of stuff strewn about inside and the passenger seat was broken. I proudly had to admit that no, it hadn't been stolen, it's always like that. I think the nice lady on the other end of the phone was almost cracking up as I hung up.

Happy Birthday to mother for yesterday!

That's all I have to say, I just woke up after a nice snooze on the couch and I can't be arsed writing anything too major. Sorry!

Early Morning Chills - At Least My Ear Flaps Keep Me Warm. Or Something.

Submitted by TiM on

Up at 5am again today after getting home from work last night at about 10:30pm. Nothing has gone wrong thankfully, just some prep work last night and then a swapover of a bit of equipment at 6am this morning. Sometimes I really really hate getting up early and I'm shitty about it for the rest of the day. Other days, like today, I really don't mind getting up early. It was cool this morning to fang into town in the BoD, Powderfinger cranking loud, do the work (which went really well) and then fang back to Takapuna (Powderfinger still cranking) to go to work.

Last night I had a good chat to my mate Rob (of Rob and Denny fame) which was fairly overdue I think. Sounds like things are still a bit muppety with some of my old friends back home having a stupid little spat over not much...

House Update

Submitted by TiM on

Yesterday we thought we hadn't got the house, because the landlord hadn't bothered to send John the email with all the details in it like he'd promised, so we thought he'd probably just picked another tennant and didn't have the balls to tell us that.

We had a bit of a talk about it last night and decided it was probably a good thing regardless, we didn't really want it anyway because two of the rooms were too small and we weren't really cool with the landlord living right next door.

Then this morning John got to work to find the landlord had mailed him all the details etc with an apology for leaving it so late. So I rang John and we had a talk about it and we've still decided we're not going to take it, based on the above reasons.

I guess we might start looking for...

The New House

Submitted by TiM on

I have to be at work nice and early this morning (4:30am or so) to do some pretty major work, just upgrading one device. It's a pretty important one though so I don't want to do it from home in case it reboots and doesn't come back to life. That always happens to me.

I'd set my alarm for 4am, but then I woke up at 2:30am and I really didn't feel tired (desite the fact I'd only had 3.5 hours sleep) so I'm awake and sitting in the lounge with the heater going and my sexy-as-hell beanie on. I rule.

Read on to find out how the inspection of our maybe-new-house went! I don't know why I say "Read On" because I know you're all just hanging on every word I say anyway. I rule. Oh, I already said that.

John and Gary came to pick me up from...

New House?

Firstly, if you have a user account and stuff I have posted another Friend Only story. Be sure to read it (you'll need to be logged in) for lots of juicy nuggets of information, or something.

Tonight we're going to look at another house! John has found a really primo house that's up for rent, it's much bigger than our currrent place, two stories, has two bathrooms and the best bit is it's only a couple of dollars a week more expensive. You can view photos of it here [link removed, it stopped working]. I hope a) there's nothing wrong with it and b) we get it!

I went out last night with John and Gary to Sago, a really nice resturant I've mentioned on here a bunch of times before. It's like a new haunt for me or something, I seem to end up there about once a week...

Birthday and Weekend

Submitted by TiM on

I had a great Birthday on Friday, thanks everyone who wrote/rang me, much appreciated. I'm really busy at work today so I'll write something later on tonight in a bit more detail. But yes, the Beast made it down to Taupo and back again, thus making it the third time it's done that. I was pretty amazed, especially with all the rain and terrible traffic on the way there (and the way back)

Anyway, back to work, more later tonight.

Rise Of The Machines

People have been complaining that I've been getting slack in updating once again. In response to those people I would like to issue the following public statement:

"Bite Me"

Thank you.

Tuesday night I went out for Dinner with some guys from Wellington, the Boss and the Bosses Boss! Sounds pretty scary but he was actually just as cool as the bossman is and we had a great time. We went to Sago which I think I've mentioned a few times before, it's the most fantastic place to eat in Takapuna. For Entree I had kangaroo. Not sure if I've ever had Kangaroo before, but if I have I don't remember it. Skippy was pretty tasty though, but not as good as the large hunk of dead cow they brought out for mains. Mmmm.

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning I got a terrible sleep, because my phone kept getting text messages from...

Early Morning Ra Ra Ra!

Submitted by TiM on

I got woken at 5:30am this morning by a panicking guy from Hong Kong (they provide us with Internet Connectivity) telling me that all our network sessions were down. If this had been true this would have been a really bad thing. I bolted out of bed and down to the computer to look at the problem. What problem? Stupid little man forgot to inform me that it was only one session that was down, not all of them. Muppet man. No getting back to sleep after that adrenaline rush though.

So I stayed up and drank coffee and played silly buggers on the network. Then I ended up driving Gary to work, because he's going out on the piss tonight with his boss (funny, I'm going out for some beers with my boss tonight too)

I got totally lost after I dropped him off and it took me a...

Work

Submitted by TiM on

Back to full on work mode today... and I can't be arsed. I'm sitting at home on the couch, it's wet and miserable outside (so I can't walk to work, typical Auckland) and the two coffee's I've had don't seem to have kicked in.

Maybe I should just get a knife and make the other lung collapse? Then I can bludge off work for another week! Or maybe not.

As my favourite mug of all time says, Fuck Mondays and Fuck It!

Friend Only Stories

Submitted by TiM on

One of the really cool things I love about LiveJournal is the fact that you can post stories and make them public, friend only or private. The annoying thing about my website has been I've always had to make stuff either public (anyone in the world can read stuff) or private (only I can read them), I've never had the option of allowing close friends to read stuff while the general public can't...

Now I do! After a bit of stuffing around today I've set my site up so I now have the ability to post stories that only logged in users who are marked as friends can see, just like LiveJournal. I probably won't use it very often, there's not often stuff I want to write about that's private, but sometimes there is.

So, if you haven't created an account yet, go create one. Most of you already have...
