Lunch Today

Submitted by TiM on

Miserable day in Auckland today. Supposed to be 120km/h winds but I think it got downgraded so we haven't seen it quite that bad. There's lots of rain and it's pretty miserable though.

I went to catch the bus today (Sarah left for work early) and I left my bus card in my old wallet. What a dumb thing to do, why would I do that? At least I hope it's in my old wallet, I can't imagine where else it'd be. Maybe it's lost? I hope not!

Sarah came to Newmarket for lunch today, was really nice! We went...

The New Supermarket

Submitted by TiM on

We went to a different supermarket last night. It was very exciting. Both Sarah and I wandered around going "Wow. This can't be happening!", but it was. It was well laid out. There was space to get two trolleys past each other. It was well lit. People were waiting behind the counters to help you. And, get this, when we went to the checkout there was no queue AND two people. One to scan and one to bag.

It was amazing. I'm still pinching myself thinking that maybe it was a dream, but no, it was real. It was just Coles New World (Though they don't use the word Coles in New Zealand so it's just "New World")

Edit: I wrote them a letter and they also replied.

Which reminds me of a great joke from when I was about 8. Where do you go when the world blows...

Kagami Biraki

Submitted by TiM on

Went to Kagami Biraki yesterday (class started at 8am), which is the first official Karate class of the year. Was good to go, I haven't been to Karate for about 2 months because I've been a lazy so and so. I'm sure glad that I've been running again though because they worked us nice and hard in the early morning hot sun. But then there was breakfast provided afterwards, sausages and eggs. Very tasty and nice to see people again.

Lots of people came and collected their TradeMe things yesterday. Clothing mostly. A guy arrived to collect the Yukka Trees out the front but was a bit dissapointed to realise that even our revised guess of them being about 4 Metres high was wrong, he things they're more like 6. He's coming back today with a chainsaw and some bits and pieces though, so that's good. I don't think we'll...

Sky TV, Jogging, Cat Diets

Submitted by TiM on

We got Sky TV yesterday. Now we have 30 channels of crap to choose from instead of 6. I don't mind I guess, what I hate is the news. The news in New Zealand is so terrible. It's just 3 minutes of covering the basic big news items, then it goes into bleeding hearts current affairs crap. Here's a turtle missing a leg! Here's a lady who got her finger trapped in the kettle for 12 hours. If they do attempt to cover a story, they HAVE to send a reporter to stand outside whatever lame thing is happening so they can say "We have no more details at this time" as if THAT somehow gives us more of the story. Reminds me of this video.

Ok right sorry, deep breathes. So we got Sky which is cool cause at least there might be something on worth watching now...

Furniture Updates

Submitted by TiM on

We went to town with the purchasing on the weekend. Well OK we only bought two things but two expensive things. We badly needed them, the house looks complete now. Yes, we now have a sideboard and a sideboard. Or a drinks cabinet. Or basically a set of drawers and cupboard for me to shove stuff so it's out of sight. Driving Sarah mad in the process.

We even managed to put all our CDs and DVDs away yesterday, a pretty good achievement. Well apart from the 30 odd CD's without cases, or cases without CDs.

The house looks much better and nicer now though, it's finally all starting to come together. The lounge doesn't look barren anymore like it did.

In other news, we sold the big trees out the front of our house. We're going to rip out the stupid little box that they're in and do something...

The Big Gig

I forgot how funny The Big Gig was. I used to love these two.
Oh and Veronica Glenhuntly and how she used to introduce Clinton F.....unt!

Woah. I've just realised, this is 20 years old.

Back to Work

Submitted by TiM on

Back to work tomorrow, bugger bitch moan and complain. Still we've had a good couple of days at home. The garage is now very tidy, plus well stocked. I had heaps of airpoints I'd forgotten about that converted to $250 worth of Bunnings vouchers. So we now have a pegboard in the garage plus hangers. We have a decent length hose, plus a simple water timer. Though I was very tempted by the super expensive water computers, I opted instead for the $5 water timer. Not as cool but does the job. Plus lots of other little bit and pieces we needed.

Today's been another productive day, we've listed about 30 various things online for sale. Mine are all PSP things and Sarah's are mostly clothes. Hopefully we'll get a few dollars for everything.

I also ripped a bunch of plants out of the front garden today, once I realised...

Happy New Year 2011

Submitted by TiM on

Happy New Year chickens! We were such party animals last night, what with the staying in and the movie watching. We did watch the fireworks off the Skytower though. On the Tele. Ahhh being old, it's so fun!

We're doing stuff around the house today. Can you tell that I'm procrastinating doing more stuff by typing up this story instead? I bet you can't.

Moved the little laptop out to the shed today. I've been meaning to get it working on Wireless for ages, finally I have. Now it's a little media centre, remote server and backup device, all in...

Last Story of 2010

Submitted by TiM on

Drove back from Napier yesterday! Tui was quite miffed about the whole thing until we put her in the cage and shoved her in the back seat. That seemed to calm her down a lot more than being in the front seat with Sarah and she slept the whole way home. Good cat!

Bit of a DIY day today. We replaced the lights in the lounge today, put up the new mirror. This is a mirror to replace the mirror that we put up a few weeks back. I mowed the lawns again, man those suckers grow fast!

Busy, busy busy! See you all next year.

Heading Home Today

Submitted by TiM on

The bloody cat. I don't want it anymore, she's for sale, $1 take her away. Ok maybe that's a bit harsh. But she kept us up all night last night meowing and running around the bedroom and just generally being a shit. You can't really get too angry at her, she's confused and has been moved a few times down here in Napier. But we got a very fractured sleep thanks to her.

We're driving back home today, it's been a short visit but there's lot of little jobs to do around the house so we might as well get started on them while we've got some time off. Plus the cat will appreciate being back on normal ground I'm sure.

Goodbye Napier!
