Stupid Car!

Submitted by TiM on

We were happily driving to work in our fixed car yesterday. About 30 seconds before it got to Sarah's work it started to die again. Not happy, Jan! It managed to splutter its way there, luckily there was a park right outside her work too. So I dumped it there, waved goodbye to Sarah and walked to work. I rang up the Subaru shop and they said they'd look at it.
I was all ready to call a Tow Truck but clever wife thought to ring roadside assistance and they sorted the towing out for us. Bonus!

I just got a call from them this morning saying that the alternator was totally rooted and that they've fixed it up now. They've put a reconditioned alternator in it, so it should be good to go now. I'll go pick it up later this afternoon. Damn cars!

In other news, Happy St...

Uber Toaster

Submitted by TiM on

A package arrived for me at work yesterday. This is nothing too exciting in itself, packages often arrive for me. But I wasn't expecting anything and it was wrapped in brown paper which isn't how networking equipment arrives. I took it up to my desk and unwrapped it. A new toaster! I wasn't very excited about this until I read the side of the toaster box.

This is it. This is the one true toaster. You see, this toaster automatically detects when you've put toast in it and goes down. It has no lever. It knows. You just put the toast in it and it does the rest. It is the most magical of toasters. I'm about to go and make some toast now.

As if you needed anymore indiciation of how awesome this toaster is, here's a video that someone made of it in action. I like to...

The Spluttering Car

Submitted by TiM on

Saturday afternoon, Sarah and Tui are both fast asleep on the couch together. Every now and then Tui looks at me as if to say "Am I doing this snoozing right?" and then she rolls back over to sleep.

I took the car to the hardware store to buy some saws yesterday afternoon. Just as I was pulling into the carpark I noticed all the dials on the dash were dropping to zero. That is, I was driving but the speedo was off. Uh-oh. I found a park, killed the engine and then tried to restart it. Nothing. Unfazed I went and did my shopping while I figured out what I'd do.

It actually started though, it seems the rest of 15 minutes did it good. On the way home though the car started jerking really badly and the speedo was doing the non-working, working, non-working, working trick, so I...

Flop

Accidentally fell asleep last night on the dinning room floor while patting Tui. One minute I was patting the cat the next I was removing my snoring face from the carpet. Whoopsie. It's not like I've done heaps to be that tired. And the floor really isn't that comfortable. Odd.

Happy Anniversary!

Submitted by TiM on

Happy Anniversary to us! One year down, many more to go.

We drove down to Tauranga on Saturday morning, after shoving the cat outside with a large bowl of food and her bed.

Tauranga's a much nicer drive than Napier is, it's only a couple of hundred km away. Annoying it was pissing with rain the whole way, really badly. Once we arrived it wasn't much better either, you couldn't even see very far because of the mist and the pouring rain.

We met up with Holly and Adrian, Sarah and Holly went off to the wedding dress shop so Holly could try on her wedding dress, Adrian and I went down to the cafe to grab a bite to each. We then all headed over to the suit hire place so Adrian could get all fitted and kitted out for the big day.

That done we went and grabbed...

Missing Collar

Submitted by TiM on

Tui came in last night missing her collar! We got her one of those collars that will unclip if get badly caught. Silly Cat.

Waved goodbye to Sarah way to early this morning, then went back to bed. Whoops, slept in because I'd left my headphones plugged into my phone. The alarm handily sounds in the headphones but not out of the speaker. Woke up at 8am and rushed around, made it out the door at 8:30 which isn't too bad.

I'd even managed to find Tui's collar outside, sitting under the big tree in the front yard. No idea why it came off, Tui doesn't seem traumatised or like she's been fighting.

Went to Karate last night. The other bluebelts are really keen (read: think that they're the next Rocky) and therefore I have some pretty neat bruising on my arms today. The other side of the arguement is...

All By Myself

Sarah's heading off to Sydney tomorrow for 2 days, back on Thursday night. Poor me! At least it'll give me a chance to try out "Burger Queen", a little burger place near our house that Sarah's convienced has an F- food grading and will give me salmonella straight away. I'm sure it'll tasty as. Stay turned for a hard hitting review of Burger Queen.

1st of March today, Sunday's our 1st Wedding anniversary! I can't believe a year has gone by already. Also I'm glad that Facebook pops up to remind me it's my anniversary. It actually says "Your Anniversary...

Love Birds

Submitted by TiM on

We went and saw the movie "Love Birds" last night after Sarah won some free tickets to it on Twitter. We also got a free feed thanks to some promotion they were running. I can't say the undercooked fish they served really made me want to rush out and purchase the product though, but hey it was food, it was mostly tasty and it was free which are all good things in my book.

Love Birds was a pretty good movie really, better than I expected. It's very Kiwi! What we both loved about it was it's filmed in Auckland so I was always catching myself going "I know where that is" or at least trying to figure out where it was. It was a really silly little comedy though, the duck was pretty cute too. Here's the trailer for a laugh.

Now I'm eating my porridge getting ready to...

Mini Status Updates

Submitted by TiM on

I've just added my little "mini Twitter" (it's not Twitter though) feed thing to the front page. I update it with little notes to myself every now and then. I've added it to the front page, because I often update it when I haven't updated with a proper story!
