Scootering in the rain!

Submitted by TiM on

I took the scooter today, I have to whizz down to the Australian passport office at lunchtime to get my passport renewed. I didn't pick a very good morning for scootering, 2 minutes down the road and it started to piss down. Ugh, not that much fun in the wet with busses wizzing past and water splashing up etc. But I made it no worries, it's really quick and still quite fun. Hopefully it's not pissing down at lunchtime, but it's still almost dark outside so I don't hold much hope of that being being the case.

Bar Stools

Submitted by TiM on

We and picked up a couple of barstools last night. We already have 3, but they're kinda rickety and not really that great. Plus 3 is too many. Now we have two nice white ones, they look much better.

Dry hopped my beer on Sunday. Those tasty hops will now sit in the brew for another couple of weeks before bottling. I hope that gives the real hoppy, yummo taste that I am after.

Monday Morning

Submitted by TiM on

Just about got killed by a driver who's unaware of the give-way-to-pedestrians rule. Revenge will be mine!
Good weekend, did a few jobs around the house. We're going to have to paint it over summer, the slap-dash job that was done to sell it is really starting to show. There's bubbles coming up, little chunks falling off all over the show. Sadly I have no idea how to paint a house, but how hard can it be right? You grab a scraper and a paintbrush and off you go, right?

Had a good week last week, nothing too exciting. We found out on Thursday about the proposed positions that will "be affected" - thankfully mine is not one of them. Tough times for some people though which sucks. We'll face some interesting challenges over the next year I reckon.

Thursday night (good timing) we had a celebration for the new...

Motorbike Skills Test

Submitted by TiM on

Got up early yesterday and drove out to Albany, where I jumped on a motorbike for 30 minutes and drove it around cones and in straight lines etc to prove that I can handle a motorbike. That done, I have been given a bit of paper that allows me to go and sit my theory test to get my Motorbike L plates. Exciting times!

A New Fridge Arrives!

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah said to me on the weekend "Should we get this fridge as a beer fridge?" and showed me a fridge that was $60. "Hell yes we should!" I think I yelled out, or something similar to that. So we bought it! A man has just dropped it off now, it's living in the garage and soon will have some tasty lagers in it chilling down. Quite happy about that!

The scooter crapped out last night. But not in a terrible way, just the seat wouldn't unlock. The key would just spin around and do nothing. After a bit of googling I figured out how to get a screwdriver in there and pop it open, then I managed to fix the lock and put a little screw in there so I won't happen again.

But Sarah didn't scooter to work today, I read the weather report and it said that...

Car Repaired

Submitted by TiM on

Went and picked up the car from where the lady based into the front bumper. That was ages ago, but it took me a while to organise getting it repaired, mostly because we didn't want to be without the car for a weekend (that's always a pain in the arse, less so with the scooter).

Sarah's work released their new updated webpage this week. You should check it out (keep scrolling down) because it's pretty awesome.

Work's interesting, things are shuffling around because of the UFB decision. Nothing huge, yet, but all stuff that we expected.

Scooter is going...

Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain

Submitted by TiM on

It seems like all it did all weekend was rain. That's probably not really 100% true, Saturday it did ease up for a couple of hours so I could mow a few lawns, clean up some more of the front yard tree stumps and rake up leaves etc.

Tui's been OK though, she's been doing her nails.

Friday night we just sat in and got pizza. And listened to the rain pour and pour and pour. It was so loud a few times that I wondered if the roof was going to hold up. It did. Saturday morning we went and had breakfast at our favourite little cafe up in Sandringham. It's so French, they had a new guy and he was so French that we almost had trouble ordering. He was really good though, I'm not complaining.
We went and did a bit of shopping, we got a...

Fire Drill!

Submitted by TiM on

At 3am last night the smoke alarm started screaming. I lept up in utter shock and fright as you do when 90db of really effing loud beeping starts up in the dead of the night.

Once out of bed I realised it was the smoke alarm and my body promptly dumped a good litre of so of adrenaline into my bloodstream. Ready to fight the fire I charged out the door to grab our fire extinguisher. The beeping stopped.

Silence. Tui ran up to say hi, Sarah was still fast asleep (how I don't know) and I was standing in the hallway in my chicken pyjamas dazed and confused. I went exploring around the house looking for signs of smoke. I sniffed lots. I went outside to look for smoke. My bits got chilly. I went back inside. It seemed like a false alarm so I went out into the...

Office Move, Cake Report, Lights

Submitted by TiM on

I went and collected some grey light fittings tonight. They look pretty nice, we're going to put them in the kitchen to try and brighten it up a little bit. For $35 they're a bargain (apparently, I wouldn't know)

So the cake wasn't a raging success. It was certainly overcooked for a mudcake, which is a bit of a shame. But given the quality of the other cakes, I'm not sure even with the perfect mudcake that I'd have won! Tough competition!

We're back over in 101 CGR now. New office fitting look good but I'm not 100% sold on...
