Halloween

Submitted by TiM on

It was Halloween last night, I remembered to get some supplies on Sunday night while doing the supermarket shop. We had heaps of kiddies stop by, from 6pm through to about 9pm when it was dark. I had to apologise to the last 3 groups of kiddies 'cause they were too late, all the lollies were gone!

Been trying to listen to some new music the last few days, been listening to lots of the same old stuff I always listen to and it's getting a bit boring. Music these days! Damn kids!

Melbourne Cup day today too. Go neddy nag.

My Position is Disestablished.

Submitted by TiM on

So we got the call the other day, there's going to be changes! Next few days we get our little consultation pack and lo-and-behold my position is affected! Or disestablished. Or whatever words they want to use, ho ho ho etc. Now before anyone flips out, I'm 100% sure there's still a role for me where I work, I'll just have to apply for it. In fact looking at the restructure sheet there's a couple of different roles I could apply for.

And actually I've had 3 separate people tell me "We still want you here" so that's nice. So it mostly seems it's going to just mean I have to apply for a couple of roles and see what happened.

Of course, like everyone else, I've put the feelers out to see what else is out there. But I'm not really too worried.

It really really sucks for some...

Hey Mom!

Hey it's great to have you as my Mum too, though now I'm a bit worried that the lady I currently call Mum just adopted me? I mean I hope that's not the case, but it's either that or you've emailed the wrong email address.

Seesh, please tell me it's the second, right?

But regardless, I *AM* having a great day here in Auckland, it's a bit overcast outside and there's a chance that I'll lose my job today. But I doubt it, I'm pretty good at what I do (which you're obviously aware...

Loud Noises in the Night

Submitted by TiM on

Edit:: As promised, Photos from the Weekend.

Got woken up at 4am this morning by the cat. That's quite normal, so I put the cat out. Had just drifted off to sleep again when I was woken by the strangest snorts, squeals and funny noises. I thought at first it was cats fighting, then I thought it was a bird. Then I thought it must be a bird that's been attacked by a cat. With the noises and screaming still going on every 15 seconds, I went out to find out what the hell it was...

To find two hedgehogs having some sort of hedgehog battle. One was bashing into the other, who was screaming. I poked them both with sticks and set one running one way and one running the other. I hope that sorted out whatever sort of issue they were having. Noisy little bastards.

What A (Long) Weekend!

Submitted by TiM on

What a busy weekend it's been, but it's been heaps and heaps of fun! Friday I got home but realised I was in the wrong place, I was supposed to be down at the Viaduct where everyone else was. Sarah had got Peter, Mary, Holly and Adrian into the Giant Rugby Ball through one of her contacts, so they'd been for the tour and were hanging around down there. So I jumped back on the bus and headed to downtown, where I met up with everyone at the Waterfront bar.

We were only going to stay for a bit, but realised that it'd be a lot more comfortable to stay there than it would be to head back to Party Central (the big rugby fan area in downtown Auckland) to see Aussie vs Wales. So we ended up staying there for the evening, had some dinner and watched the match...

At the pub for the game!!

We're currently all jammed in like sardines at the pub in Kingsland. It's very hot, we've been here saving seats since 3pm. It's currently 6:30. Lots of people tried to steal our seats, but no! Sod off! Eventually everyone turned up and we don't have to worry. They even repaired our seat, it was all poked and broken. Good the AB's, I guess.

Full House!

Submitted by TiM on

We're going to have a full house this weekend! It's a long weekend, which is great! Peter, Mary, Holly and Adrian are all coming up from Napier to stay with us, also our friend from Africa Jess (who stayed recently) is coming along with one of her friends. It's going to be a jam packed house, but at least we have room for everyone.

Work has been busy this week, I've got some new toys to play with which is fantastic. It makes things interesting when there's cool stuff to work on, there's been a bit of a lack of that over the last 6 months.

Sarah went to the Dr again yesterday because she still has her cough, the Dr thinks she might have Wooping Cough! The symptoms certainly match, crazy! She's got some pills now and already seems to be feeling a bit better, so that's good. Poor...

Well That Was Rubbish!

Had a great weekend, as always! Saturday we didn't do as much as we've had liked, it was one of those days where it rained then it didn't then it did etc. I was really keen to get in and sort out all the rubbish lying around the house but it just wasn't the right day. Instead we took it easy, went up and got some breakfast at the French Cafe and then skulked around home. I brewed some more beer, just a chucked together collection of bits and pieces I had lying around the house, nothing special. I'm confident it'll turn out OK though, it's been bubbling away nicely every since I put it in the fermenter.

Saturday night Sarah cooked us up a lovely roast and we watched the French beat the Welsh in the Rugby World Cup. The poor Welshies really deserved to win, they played so...

WOF Time

The warranty for my lovely Dell laptop I bought in the UK 4 years ago now runs out in 4 days time. So knowing that the screen was on the way out, as was the keyboard, I rang up and logged a fault. I didn't really expect them to replace the keyboard considering it was just wear and tear, but the screen was really faulty. The guy who answered the phone though didn't ask any questions and said they'd replace the keyboard as well.

So I'm typing this on my nicely refitted laptop! It's 4 years old but still going strong, I hope that it lasts another 4 years. A few years ago, a laptop 4 years old would have been a dinosaur but not these days. I mean it's obviously not the fastest laptop anymore, but it still does most things perfectly. I don't want a new one anyway...
