Chilli Power!

Submitted by TiM on

I picked the first chilli from my "super hot" Trinidad Scorpion chilli plant last night. This is what it looks like. It went from Green to this lovely Orange colour, I'm not sure if they're supposed to go red, I think so. It's very hot, even a single seed caused my mouth to really really lit up with screaming heat pain.
Awesome.

Cass came over last night for dinner, lovely to see her as always.

Sarah's doing better, still sore but able to go to work and those sorts of things. So she's on the mend. It'll still...

The French Cafe

Submitted by TiM on

It was our 2nd Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Happy Anniversary to us! To celebrate we went to The French Cafe, a very flash uber restaurant in Auckland.
The service was as amazing as the food. We had the 6 course tasting menu and we were both pretty stuffed by the time the final desert course arrived.

A lovely evening with my lovely wife!

Finally, A Sunny Day!

Submitted by TiM on

Today was a lovely day! Sunny, no clouds, hot the whole time. It's a shame we had to wait until Autumn to get it, but I'll take it regardless.

Sarah's doing a lot better, though still obviously recovering. The nurse came again on Saturday morning to re-bandage her legs, she's coming again tomorrow to redo them too.

Saturday a WeatherBomb was supposed to hit us, I can't say it was really that bad in Auckland. Sure there was some wild wind and crappy rain, but that's been pretty much every Saturday for the last 3 months, nothing special.
Sarah and I ventured out of the house though, good for Sarah because it was her first trip out since Monday, we went and got some breakfast in Mt Eden, then did a bit of shopping at Bunnings. Almost a regular Saturday for us really!

Saturday afternoon I brewed some beer, I'd...

Sarah's Making Progress

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah's making a little bit of progress. The district health nurse came over today and re-bandaged her scrapped up legs, they're looking a lot better.
Last night was a bit of a worry though, she started to get really bad spasms around her sore ribs, we ended up back at the A&E in Ascot. The Dr just prescribed some anti-inflammatories which helped Sarah heaps, when she woke up this morning she was so much better. The pain etc has come back as they've worn off, but she's got quite a few so they should help her to heal up quickly.

In other news, here's some photos taken onboard the boat trip during our weekend in Whitianga.

Update on Sarah

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah's doing much better today. She's still very stiff, very sore and pretty much bed ridden, but she's in better spirits and in a little bit less pain. I took her to the Doctor's this morning to get her bandages redressed, the bandages were really weeping badly overnight so they needed to be replaced pretty quickly. The poor girl, she's doing a great job of staying in good spirits given the pain that she's in.

So I was on the bus yesterday and I saw a police car go screaming pass. I didn't know it at the time but it was rushing to attend to the accident Sarah'd just been involved in. She was driving along in the Bus Lane, which she's allowed to do, but a Van who was in the queue of traffic seems to have decided to try and jump the queue, pulled out without looking giving...

Getting "That" Phonecall.

Submitted by TiM on

I got THAT phone call today while I was on the bus. "Hi Tim it's someone from the Police. Your wife Sarah's been involved in an accident." Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck! She's OK, she's fine. She's very sore, bashed, bruised and scraped up but there's nothing majorly wrong with her. A crazy man swerved into the Bus Lane while she was riding along in it, causing her to drive into his wing mirror then defect into a power pole. Her helmet, jacket and gloves protected most of her but her legs got quite scraped up from the accident. The police were called etc, it was quite a traumatic event for everyone involved.

So yes quite a stressful day for me and a painful one for Sarah. I'll write up a more complete story in a bit, but this is just to let anyone else know that she's OK...

Dining With Dad

Submitted by TiM on

Dad's arrived up in Auckland for a few days with us. Sadly the weather has been utterly shit for him, makes it a bit hard to get out and about but things are looking a bit better for him today. Dad had a great time in Napier, especially at the art deco golf day, driving the cart around delivering beers etc to people.

Sarah won a wardrobe a few days ago on TradeMe so Dad and I went around to the guys house last night to pick it up. I'd to hired a trailer to collect it and I certainly needed it, it was pretty huge and heavy. But it was a good score for $51! The bloke who sold it was great, very helpful getting it onto the trailer. Dad and I got it home and being a bit unsure where else to put it we just put it...

More Fence Painting

Submitted by TiM on

Did a bunch more fence painting today. I'd been doing the inside of the fence, then when I stepped out to admire my handiwork I realised little fuckers had graffitied us overnight!
No worries, out with the paintbrush and it was painted over in 10 minutes, you couldn't even see where it was. I'm going to ask the council to pull out the bush on the nature strip, it just collects rubbish, looks shit and people hide behind it to graffiti our fence.

The fence is looking really good though, I've been doing the big brush strokes and Sarah has been doing the precision work in between the gaps.

Sarah went to Di's hens night yesterday so I had the place to myself. I tidied up a bit and more some more hot sauce. It didn't turn out that hot, but it has a nice chilli garlic tang to it...

I'm A Criminal

Submitted by TiM on

Fuck! I got my first ever speeding ticket. The weekend we went to the nursery I broke the law and drive 6 km/h over the limit. Yes, I have been busted doing the hidious speed of 56km/h in a 50km/h zone.

This is my first ever speeding ticket. I am very sad. It's only $30 but that's $30 I could have spent on homebrew things! Alas.

Round The Bays

Submitted by TiM on

5 years after last doing it, I'm going to do the Round The Bays again this year. It's the same day, March the 18th and I've started training already. I hope to try and finish in under 50 minutes this time, though 40 minutes would be nice. We'll see how I go.

Got my training schedule and I'm enrolled at work. Just over 4 weeks to get ready!
