Vanuatu: Day Two

Submitted by TiM on

We flew in yesterday morning after a decent Air New Zealand flight. I say decent because the seats were really jammed in and it felt very cramped and almost claustrophobic. But it was only 3 and a half hours and there was movies etc to watch.

We arrived at the airport and I was excited because there was going to be a man waiting for us with a sign. So after we got through customs (very boring) we looked. No man. No sign. This was disappointing to say the least! We rang the apartments and the problem was sorted out quickly and we were shoved a bus with people going to some other resort. I was worried ours wouldn't be as nice, but once we got here all those worries were alleviated. It's fantastic! We have an upstairs room with a balcony, a view over the lagoon, a little...

Coffee Machine Upgrade OH YES PLEASE

Submitted by TiM on

Happy Birthday to me for yesterday. Had a great day, Sarah bought me a brand new coffee machine that is automatic, you just have to put the filter basket in and press the button and it does the rest. It also has a built in coffee grinder which is awesome, you just put the beans in the top and tell it how much coffee you want and it grinds it up into the filter cup for you! It's very awesome and makes a much nicer shot of espresso than the old machine ever did. To be fair to the poor old sad and busted one, it did last exactly 6 years before it was usurped by Espresso Deluxe!

Thanks everyone that rang and texted me, nice to hear from everyone. For dinner we went to a flash restaurant near Sarah's work, I can't remember the name of it but we...

So Busy

Submitted by TiM on

Phew! Sorry it's been ages since the last update, been so so busy at work and then I'm too tired/stuff/forget to write an update when I get home! Getting too slack in my old age.

Last night I tried to change the lampshades in the room next to our bedroom. An easy task, you might think. Well it was until I changed the second one and it started to bzzt and fzzt. The next thing half the lights in the house went out. Oh dear. So Sarah and I tried to fix that by looking at fuses. Next thing the house alarm is screaming and screaming at us. Oh dear. It wasn't going wlel. After lots of stuffing around we managed to get everything under control. I went and bought some new fuse wire and the lights came back on. I'll finish looking at the dodgy electrics on weekend.

Last weekend in July.

Lovely cold morning to be heading to work. The builders came over yesterday to sus out all the bits they have to do, but they didn't start work yet because the weather was terrible, all it did yesterday was rain. Looking forward to being able to go to sleep at night and not hear drip, drip, drip on the wardrobe. I did try to fix it myself during Summer, obviously didn't do a very good job of it though.

We had a good weekend, didn't do a real lot though as Sarah was feeling pretty tired on Saturday and Sunday was miserable as. I had to take Tui to the vet for her yearly vaccinations which she lived. And by loved of course I mean she turns into this amazing devil cat, hissing, screeching and trying to bite or claw anyone within reach. She gets so pissed off, the vet...

Runner Up

Submitted by TiM on

We've had a Table Tennis championship at work for the last 3 weeks. Today I made it into the Grand Final! Me against Greg, the head of Sales.

The first round was very close! Very tight but I emerged victorious! That was it I thought, I've won, we're done! But then Greg said "C'mon, best of 3" to which I (stupidly) agreed. It's Greg's fault, he's a Salesman so he talked me into something I didn't want! Anyway Greg won the next two games, making me the sad loser. I mean proud runner up.

Well done Greg. It was a great match and you deserved to win!

Wet Weekend - Busy Week

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah made me two more banners this week, so be sure to reload the front page lots to see them. Or not, it's up to you.
It's been a busy week, I can't believe it's Thursday already. The builders were supposed to be starting on the front of the house this week but the weather has been terrible and they've got 3 guys away with flu at the moment. Work's the same, heaps of people off sick. There's a really bad strain of flu that's apparently sweeping the country, I've had the flu shot so I think I should be OK. Sarah hasn't, so I hope she's not going to get it!

We had a good weekend, didn't do a real lot because of the crappy weather. Saturday we went and did a bit of shopping, Sunday I made another Lager beer which is happily bubbling away in the beer...

Wonky Knee

Submitted by TiM on

Went for a jog last night, there's a circuit that I've been following that's about 8.5km. My knee was feeling a tiny bit funny as I was doing the run but I wasn't that worried about it. Until just before I got home when it suddenly hurt like a mofo. Stupid knee, I'm getting too old (and expecting it to carry too much weight). It was really really sore, I was hobbling about the house like a crazy person.
Thankfully it's much better this morning, it's nothing major. Hope it gets better though, gotta keep training for the half...

Kitchen Progress

Submitted by TiM on

Kris from the Kitchen Project people came yesterday morning along with his kitchen lady to measure up the kitchen space. There was a bit of excitement over exactly what plans people are working too, but that's being sorted out. We looked at the nice engineered stone top, which I'm looking forward to having instead of the cruddy stuff we have at the moment. Kris asked if we wanted to keep the kitchen to sell on TradeMe, but we've decided that's too much hassle. The last thing I want is someone emailed me asking me "how wide is the blah blah...

Another Weekend in Napier

Submitted by TiM on

Another weekend in Napier, this time to meet our new newphew* Joseph who arrived a little bit earlier than scheduled on Wednesday the 11th July. We both booked Friday off and booked some flights as quickly as possible, they were still pretty expensive though but so much better than trying to drive down there.

We flew down early Friday morning, the plane wasn't delayed this time thankfully. Peter picked us up from the airport and we went back to Peter and Mary's house. Turns out that visiting hours didn't start until 3pm so we had a while to wait before we could go and visit the happy family. So we drove up to Taradale and got some late breakfast and some little cards and pressies for Joseph.

We went back home then drove out to visit Holly, Adrian and Joseph. Jospeh is very cute, very small but able to make...
