Acupuncture, Clooney, Work, Rain!

Submitted by TiM on

Tuesday morning and I was sitting in the office of the physiotherapist waiting for my appointment when I started typing this up! I can pretty much manage things by myself now, I just have to keep my training up without overdoing things. Still 3 more weeks before the marathon, so as long as I look after myself I should be OK. And if not, well I can always catch the special bus, though that would be quite embarrassing.

My Physio appointment was quite interesting, I got acupuncture which I've never had before! Quite and interesting experience I can tell you, especially when you're not quite sure what's happening. I thought when he said "needling" that he meant he was going to start to dig his elbows in. Turns out, no! He meant actual needles!

We moved most of the food and cooking stuff back into the kitchen on Monday night...

Pretzels, Kitchen Update, New Phone!

Submitted by TiM on

Saturday afternoon at the mall, we're doing a bit of shopping to get out of the terrible weather that's out there.

It's been a good week. We've had a really busy week at work, as I posted already all of routers turned up at work, the only problem is we ordered the wrong rack mount kits for some of them. This is a bit of a problem when you go to mount them in the cabinets. So we've had to panic order the correct ones, which is a little bit embarrassing!

The handles got put on the kitchen yesterday, very exciting, we can actually open and close the drawers and cupboards now! The tap has also been fixed, plus the insinkerator doesn't leak anymore. It's been a real week of good stuff with the kitchen. After sending a couple of strongly worded emails to the project manager.
Here's what it...

New Routers

Submitted by TiM on

Our new routers arrived at work today. That's 2 Cisco 9010's, 4 Cisco ASR 903's and 2 Cisco 3600CX's. This is, of course, hugely exciting. It's the realisation of a lot of hard work writing business cases, talking to people, selling the story etc etc.

So it better fucking work properly or we're all screwed :)

Sunday in the Sun

Submitted by TiM on

It was a nice day yesterday, really sunny and lovely. I got up and went for a run, then we went for a walk down to the local cafe that we quite like. They make really nice Thai food. From there we walked down to Kings Plant Barn to buy some herbs. The problem with it being a lovely sunny day was that about 500 other people all decided they wanted to buy herbs too, so it was quite hard to get near the herb garden. But we got some finally, some more corriander, mint and some lemongrass. Also bought some bird food to put into my bird feeder, hopefully they munch on it!

Umm that's about it really! I'm just trying to be a bit more proactive with my diary updates, instead of going nearly two weeks and not writing one!

We've picked some handles for the kitchen, hopefully...

AFL Grand Final 2012

Submitted by TiM on

Watched most of the Grand Final yesterday. What a very exciting match it was, it was anyone's game still up until the last minute! Really enjoyed watching it, felt a bit bad for Chris because he's a Hawk's supporter. But the Swans really played well. Great match, first game of AFL I think I've watched since the Grand Final last year!

That was after we'd changed the bulbs in the new light fitting we'd bought for the kitchen. It looks like this, but what you can't see very clearly in that picture is the outter round glass casing. So...

Pandora Music

Submitted by TiM on

I've been playing a fair bit with Pandora, an online music service. It's been around for years, but only recently started working in New Zealand without the need for trickery. It's really cool, you tell it what style of music you like and it figures out other music you'll like based on those traits. As it plays songs you tell it if you love them or hate them, so it can learn exactly what you do and don't like.

Anyway I've got a little program now that lives on the server, which means I don't have to be in...

New Neighbours

Submitted by TiM on

The new neighbours came over last night to say hi, which was very nice of them! They seem like a really nice couple as well, it's their first home as well.

Haven't taken my new shoes for a run yet. I'd better do that tomorrow morning, I've only got 30 days left!

Busy week!

Woah

Submitted by TiM on

Woah, 10 days without an update. Crazy. So our new cupboard arrived last week, but sadly they're a little bit too white. Not much we can really do about it though, it's the colour we picked in the end but only because the other colours we wanted weren't available. The new bench is still awesome and we have the right tap and an insinkerator etc. But I'm pretty much over it all now, I just want it to be finished and done.

The sparkie came in last week and again today and has done a really good job. Put new fittings in the kitchen, installed the new light and fixed the outside light. So that's good, just little things. We still don't have handles on the cupboards though, we haven't picked them yet. It's hard to find time to do all these things.

Went to the Physio today to get...

Back from Aus

Submitted by TiM on

I'm back from Sydney. I'd love to say I had a great time but really it was just work work and more work. On Monday night we had a decent time, went out for a few beers after work. But otherwise it was just get up at 7am and work through until about 10:30pm. Though on Friday we finished up about 1 and went and had a nice long lunch with some James Boags Premiums, before catching the train out to the airport.

Overall we got a lot of work done. We tested everything we wanted to test, spent far too long looking at routers and configurations. My brain it hurts. But we've done it now and we learnt a lot of good stuff. So I'm happy with that!

I caught the flu sometime on Thursday, you know when you get that horrid dry tickle in the back of your...
