Beth is Rolling

Submitted by TiM on

Bethany rolled herself over yesterday on her playmat. She's been trying on and off for the last week but her arm always got in her way. But yesterday she managed to move her arm just enough to let her get all the way over. She rolled over a couple of times, then she even rolled back once!
She seemed pretty impressed with herself afterwards.

She's just woken up so I've bought her downstairs so Sarah can get a bit more sleep. I'm watching her on the mat in front of me and she just rolled over again. It takes her about 2 minutes from start to finish and it expends a lot of her energy! When she rolled over this time she couldn't roll back, so started to cry because she was on her tummy and not sure what to do! She's a happy little chicken this morning though, she's...

Happy New Year

Submitted by TiM on

Just 3 days into the year and I've got a Diary entry published! My New Years Resolution this year is to try and be a bit more consistent with my diary entries. It probably won't work, but we'll see how it goes.

We took the Christmas Tree down yesterday. It was getting to the point where it was so dry the needles were starting to fall off. So it was time to go, Christmas is over anyway. We also tided up the office and Sarah hung up some proper blinds, much nicer than the natty horrible curtains that were here...

Christmas Time etc

Submitted by TiM on

So Christmas day has been and gone! We had a good day too, though it was a little frantic in the morning. Trying to get everything ready, unwrap presents and keep a grizzly baby happy, we were all a bit frazzled when we left at around 1pm to head to Jody and Daryl's for Christmas Lunch.
Beth had a good Christmas day, in fact I'd say half the presents under the tree were for her. She lot heaps of lovely baby clothes, a book, a teething toy, a rattle.
I got Tui a collar with bells on it. She hated it. It was too big for her though, but it was just a $3 Warehouse jobbie.

Boxing Day we headed into town to buy a few bits and pieces, I wanted to use my Sthil Shop vouchers but the shop was closed until Saturday. We went to Briscoes which wasn't...

Christmas Time

Submitted by TiM on

It's Christmas time! Yaaah! I get a break for 2 weeks from work, though I'm not sure how much of a holiday it'll really be with all the stuff that we need to do around the property.
We've had a good few weeks though! We have a new pool filter, after the old one got stuck in "Backwash". I had no idea what I was doing really when it came to pool cleaning, but I wasn't actually doing anything wrong. It just totally broke, because a couple of people came over and looked at it and they both said "Nope, it's fucked." Pretty much using those words too.
So now we have a nice new modern pool filter and it's going a great job. The pool's gone from this murky green thing that no sane person would go near to a nice blue colour. The testing strip tells us that...

Feijoa Frenzy

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah cut back heaps of the big Feijoa and Orange tree in the back yard yesterday while I was at work. The backyard looks so much better and bigger now, you can see the chicken run from the kitchen. Sadly the chicken run is still totally overrun and unloved, but hopefully over Christmas I can spend a day dealing to that.

I tried to fix Holly and Adrian's IR remote thing last night, fiddled with it for 30 minutes but no joy. There's a few things that could be wrong, none of which I was in a position to fix without really tearing things apart and no one wants that.

Beth's good, when I left this morning Mother and Child were snuggled up next to each other in bed happy.

And Tui's good too, I think she's losing weight! All the running around she does now, because we don't let...

Wood

Submitted by TiM on

Adrian and I got up really early on Saturday morning to cut and load wood! It was extra kind of Adrian, who didn't even take any! We met up with a young fella called Scott who had access to a lot of chopped trees that were just "lying around" so to speak, so Adrian got out his chainsaw, Scott got out his and I loaded up Peter's trailer with rings and rings of wood. It took us an hour and we had a massive trailer load, it was awesome. Huge thanks Adrian, as always, for helping.

I went home and mowed all the lawns, sans the front ones. Took about an hour and a half and pretty much used the whole can of Petrol again! Far out we go through the Petrol now!!

Sunday was Baby Christmas Day! Sarah had organised for the AnteNatal group to have a Christmas BBQ...

Early Christmas

Submitted by TiM on

We had an early Christmas and Peter and Mary's because they'll be overseas at Christmas time, so we had a Christmas Lunch on Saturday! Sarah'd made Bleanies (I think that's how you spell it) which were very tasty, we took Salad (all from our garden, of course) and had a lovely afternoon! Mary had cooked a lovely Turkey, Beth was on her best behaviour and slept for most of the afternoon.

Speaking of Beth and sleeping, last night was the third night in a row she's slept from 8pm->7am. Or there abouts. She's just discovered the joys of sucking her thumb, so she seems to do this instead of waking up and crying. 3 nights in a row we've slept through, it's just amazing. I almost don't want to post this in case I Jinx it!

The stupid pool. I've always thought pools are more hassle that they're worth and...

It's Raining On The Farm

Submitted by TiM on

It's been raining for the last three days. Thank god for that, trying to keep the place watered just doesn't work otherwise. I mean it's possible thanks to Sarah's hose system, but it's still a chore. The problem, of course, is that now the grass will go mental! Country life, it's hard I tell you.

Here's Interview with a Baby, Part 3. She's pretty happy in this one. I apologise for my silly baby voice, but I seem to switch to it automatically when talking to her.

Everything's going really well! Beth's sleeping welll at night, though this week she's started being less likely to go to sleep straight away after her 7pm Bath. On Monday night she wouldn't go to sleep until 9pm, but then she slept until about 9am. That's waking up twice for a feed, of course. We've got the routine down pat though, Beth wakes...

Weekend - Water Report - Watering Systems - Chilli Plants

Submitted by TiM on

Busy busy! I ordered some super hot chilli plants the other day, the arrived on the weekend so I've planted them in the greenhouse. The greenhouse is looking really good now that it's been weeded, there's Tomatoes, I think pumpkins and a capsicum plant growing in there. And hopefully the chilli seed that I planted is going to sprout like a ripper as well, it's a 2 million scoville breed. So basically you can't touch it with your bare hands or you'll DIE. Or something.

Beth's doing well, growing like the clappers. You only have to look at this photo to see which one our super growing baby is. She still doesn't seem to want to sleep much during the day though, which we think is odd. She'll go to sleep for maybe 20 minutes, then wakes up and wants to be feed/attention/just to be awake again. But she sleeps...
