Long Weekend

Submitted by TiM on

It's a long weekend. Yah. Yesterday was Hawke's Bay Show Day. Monday is Labour day. I love that Hawke's Bay always tee up the show day to be the Friday before Labour day. Another great reason to live in Sunny Hawke's Bay. Even though it is pissing down with rain today. Alas.
Beth's got a cold. I was just saying to someone the other day how she's not had a cold for a few weeks so it must be time for another one and sure enough... Mary was going to take her out to the show yesterday to see all the animals etc, but she was a bit fragile so we just kept her home all day. I took her up to the playground in the morning to have a bit of a run around, mostly to burn off a bit of energy so that she'd have a sleep during...

Saturday, what a day Saturday was! I got up, Beth got up and we had breakfast together. It doesn't phase her at all now that breakfast is in the lounge, it's normal. She doesn't even give the building works a second glance as she totters around a piece of plaster. We got ready and went around to Peter and Mary's. Sarah was at the gym, but we were going to wait for her, then all pile in the car and go to swimming. Sarah got back, jumped in the shower and Beth and I went off to swimming. That's right, I had a total brain fart and left Sarah and Theo behind. Doh. The worst thing is, I didn't even realise until we got back from swimming and I saw the text message on my phone which was "Did you leave without us?". What a muppet! Anyway it wasn't a...

Building Works

Submitted by TiM on

Building works are continuing. Still have no power except for one part of the house - that's to be expected because of the switchboard move and how funkily wired the house is, the sparky can't make it safe to turn on until a bit later. The kitchen people came and measured up today, that means that work can progress on building the kitchen for it to be installed now. That's good.
Beth's handling it well, every night around and Peter and Mary's before we come home. We used to do it so I'd follow Sarah home on the scooter, but we realised it was just easier for me to park the scooter and Peter and Mary's then drive the car home, then drop Beth back around there in the morning and scooter from there. So that's what we're doing now. That's exciting isn't it? Yes, it is.
It doesn't seem...

That one Old Kitchen. Need NEWWWW Kitchen!

Submitted by TiM on

Wow. What a busy busy few days it's been. I'm sitting here in the lounge, with an extension cord running out to the carport to give me some power for the laptop, the fibre connection, the router and a lamp in the corner so I can see what I'm doing. Beth's asleep in here room. Sarah's at Peter and Mary's with Theo. We don't have a kitchen. We don't have a laundry. There's no door on the downstairs pooper. There's dust, plaster and shit everywhere. Well, only where the kitchen and laundry used to be, though there's a fine layer of dust on everything else all through the house.
That's right, it's NEW KITCHEN time.

On Sunday all of the family came over. Holly, Adrian, Joseph, Isla, Peter and Mary. Adrian, Peter and I got to work dismantling the current kitchen. I'd like to say I helped a lot, I...

Lunch at Bistronomy

Submitted by TiM on

Peter and Mary came over today to look after Beth and Theo while we went out for lunch for a couple of hours. Very nice of them, thank you. Lunch was awesome. Bistronomy is a new resturant that's opened up in Napier and it's a lot like Mister D's. Excellent food, good service. Another "Auckland class" restaurant which is good to have. Given how good the service and the food was, it was very reasonably priced, there was nothing on the menu greater than $28. And they even had Brave Brewing beer which was nice. So we had a very lovely lunch.
When we returned home, Peppa Pig was on the TV which is always a bad sign. Beth hadn't slept and Mary was just giving Theo the last of his milkies. So Theo was given some more milkies, Beth was re-dispatched to bed and all was good with the...

Ticking Along

Nothing major to report really! I didn't take Beth to swimming on Saturday because she was just a stream of green snot. She seemed to be in a happy mood, but we thought it rather unfair on all the other kids and parents to have to swim around in a snot stew. So instead Beth and I went into town to pickup some nappy bags, then to the supermarket, stopping to have a quick fluffy before heading back home. Saturday afternoon Beth and I went up to the library, then to the swings and slide, then to Heaven's bakery for a little snack before walking back to the car.
Theo had a pretty upset night on Saturday, I even took to talking him around the block in the front pack but that didn't settle him. After a lot more mummy milkies he eventually calmed down and went to sleep, good...

Theo! Get some sleep man!

Submitted by TiM on

Sarah had a really rough day with Theo yesterday. All he did was grizzle, didn't really sleep. And to top it off, Beth's got another cold, big green snotty runny nose. On one hand I'm glad she gets them, it's going to help build up her immune system and all those sorts of things. But when she's sick she's much harder to deal with, because she grizzles and feels miserable, doesn't want to eat etc.
So last night it was 8pm and they were both crying in their beds unhappy. Arrrgh. Much worse for Sarah of course, she had to...

Beth's House

Submitted by TiM on

Beth's playhouse arrived yesterday. Sarah ordered it ages ago, before Theo was born, but it took the people ages to make it. Well, 2 months pretty much because that's how old Theo is now! Not that we were in any rush for it, so all good there. Anyway this is what it looks like, rather cool huh? Beth had no idea it was here, it arrived when she was sleeping. When she woke up, Peter and Mary were here too, Peter went out and hid in the house and waited for Beth.
She was pretty excited by the whole thing, at first she thought the "big surprise" we'd been telling her about was a pink bouncy ball, but then she saw the house and was a bit taken aback and also excited. I'm glad I filmed the whole thing on my phone, it's pretty cute to watch.
So...

Organised

Another lovely Tuesday morning, another freezing day. I thought Winter was supposed to be over, but it doesn't feel like it. I'm sitting in front of the heater while everyone sleeps. Theo's been a real little champion again the last few nights, he really gets his grizzle on in the early evening so Sarah feeds feeds feeds him. But once he's had his bath around ~9:30-10pm he then sleeps through without complaint (although often lots of snorting and farting) until 4am-6am time frame. He woke up at 5am today, but that was probably because Beth also woke up at 5am in tears, which came through loud on the monitor. Certainly woke me up. A few cuddles and a drink of water and she was back to sleep, pretty much the same with Theo expect he needs a drink of milk then he's good to go again.

Saturday Beth and I...
