Moving a Datacentre

Submitted by TiM on

It's 7:04am and still noone has made a peep on their respective baby monitors. What's going on? Not that Beth can be considered a baby by any stretch of the imagine anymore, the other night at the dinner table the F word popped out! BETH! We didn't react at all and just pretended we didn't understand what she was saying. She then tried to pretend she was saying "Fox" instead so it worked out for everyone, but oh dear. You're not even 3 yet Beth! Bound to happen I suppose.

So last week was office move week. It was pretty hectic. I helped out here and there, but by no means did I really do a lot of work because I was too engrossed with all the work I had to do for my customer, which was a lot of work in itself. But the datacentre and office move impacted...

Daylight Savings

Submitted by TiM on

Theo seems to have forgotten it's daylight savings and that we all had an extra hour to sleep in. He did have a bit of a go I suppose, waking up at 5:45am. I think Beth's awake now too it's 6:30am, so I guess they sort of did have a bit of a sleep in. He's getting really good at moving about, he can get anywhere in the lounge he wants to now. It's more of a lunge than a crawl he's doing, but getting about isn't too much of a hassle for him.
Had a nice day with the kiddies yesterday, did the usual morning breakfast thing then put Theo down for a sleep, took Beth to swimming. She was really good at swimming again, happily touching the bottom and going under a few times, thinking it was pretty funny each time. She's getting more confident every time which...

Bath Time for Theo

Submitted by TiM on

When I get home most night's Theo is already ready for his bath. He likes to wake up early, usually about 6:30am. He's magical, I swear. My alarm goes off then and more often than not, 1 minute or so after my alarm goes off, so does Theo's monitor. Not screaming or anything, just a cry out to let us know he's awake. Sometimes I'll sneak into his room 10 minutes later and he's there, thumb in eyes closed but just relaxing, he's awake but taking it easy. (Beth NEVER did this!). I don't know how he knows to wake...

Easter 2016

Submitted by TiM on

Happy Easter everyone! We had a nice day yesterday, the Mooney's came over as did Peter and Mary. Sarah and I set up the backyard with a little Easter Egg hunt for the kiddies. Beth and Joseph had a great time tearing around trying to find all the eggs, Isla had a good time toddling along too. Theo sat in his high chair and drooled. Once the spoils had been located we all sat down for a morning tea of coffee, tea, Easter Eggs and cheese. We had a great time, the weather had finally turned out to be nice after the 2 previous days were pretty wet and miserable. Everyone had a good time, Beth might have had a little bit too much chocolate, but yet somehow managed to get to sleep for a couple of hours. Once everyone was awake we headed over to Peter and Mary's for...

Shop Peppas

Submitted by TiM on

Beth's favourite game at the moment to play is Shop Peppas. Well, shop keeper, but she tends to call it Shop Peppas. Originally the customer was called the Custard but she's got that one ironed out now. We just had a game then, though she was obviously a bit over tired because it devolved into hitting and clawing at Daddy's eyes. BUT usually it's lot of fun. She annonces that the "Shop is Open Thank you" and the customer (One of Theo's toys, a piggy) comes in and he picks items from the store. Then he has to return some others because they're "Full of bees" or "Smell like an old mustard" or similar. And then, well, that's it really. It's just that over and over. Everything is "Fifty Dollars" though every now and then something will cost "One Hundred Thousand". No money ever seems to exchange hands though.

Theo's...

Quick Updates

Submitted by TiM on

The best time I find to update my diary now is in the small window between 6:30am when the alarm goes off, and 6:45am where at least one child hears me moving around and wakes up. Then one child making noises activates the second child and by approx 7am there is a small "Daddy! Daddy!" and "Hurrrrrrrr! Urrrrrrrrrrrr! Dadda! Uuurrrrrrrrr" symphony playing down that end of the house. I can hear the choir already starting to warm up, so I'd better type as fast as I can.

We've had a good couple of weeks, though getting children to sleep at night recently has been proving to be a difficult task. Beth no longer hops into bed and goes to sleep, instead now it's a long drawn out event of crying, pleading, trying to get out of her room and excuses like "I'm hungry" "My sheet's all tangled" "There's an elephant...

Playing under the sprinkler

Submitted by TiM on

It's been another super hot week here in Napier. Every day seems like it's sunny and 30c. Yesterday it was actually 30c I think. When I got home I got out the sprinker again and put it on, Beth really likes running under it. At first she hated the idea, but once she figured out it's fun and it cools her off, she's happy to run in and out. "Watch me Daddy" is a statement I hear about 643 times a day now. Theo came out too, played on his blanket and tried to eat bits of grass. I had to keep an eye on him so the mozzies didn't get him, he is a tasty looking baby for them all.

My phone has this annoying fault with it's proximity sensor. It fails, so it thinks the phone is against your head all the time even when it's not. So...

Alternative Names

Submitted by TiM on

We played a game with Beth while we were driving home from The Hot Chick on Saturday night. We gave each person a different name.

Me: Chicken Wing
Beth: Floomfa
Sarah: Lollipop
Theo: Marshmallow

Beth thought it was a great game and loved asking "And how are you chicken wing/lollipop?". Sunday morning when I went in to see her I said "Good Morning Floomfa!" and her face lit up as she replied "Hello chicken wing!"

Theo's had a bad cold for the last couple of days. It's made his sleeping really hard because he's got such a snotty blocked up nose. He doesn't understand what's happening so resorts to screaming, as if he's in physical pain the poor little tyke. We were talking to Holly yesterday and she said that Isla's had the same thing, super upset and unhappy.
Saturday we didn't do a real lot, I took Beth to...
