The Beer Prayer

Submitted by TiM on

Our lager,

Which art in barrels,

Hallowed be thy drink.

Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),

At home as it is in the pub.

Give us this day our foamy head,

And forgive us our spillage,

As we forgive those who spill against us.

And lead us not to incarceration,

But deliver us from hangovers.

For thine is the beer, the bitter, and the lager.

For ever and ever,

Barmen

Rain - Keep Your Own Journal

Submitted by TiM on

It's pissing with rain here and I can't be stuffed driving home. I'm out at Hellrose today. Stupid rain. I'll wait for a bit longer then go home anyway, I promised Hera I'd cook tea tonight (Well, I didn't promise but I said I would) so I'd better do that! Nothing worse than a flatmate who says they'll cook tea then slacks off and doesn't even bother to show up to cook!

I found a cool little addon to this program I use to keep my main Diary, it allowed users to keep their own Journal too. If you have a user account, login and then click on Journals in the main menu. You can keep your own Diary thing. Not that I except many people will want to do that, but hey. I'm going to use it myself, it has an option to keep stuff you post in...

Traffic Lights Fully Hate Me

Submitted by TiM on

I noticed something today, and that is that the traffic lights in Auckland have it out for me. Yes, laugh away, but I'm serious. They see me coming and they turn orange. They don't turn orange at that point where you know you can stop easily. And they don't turn orange where you know you can just drive on through. Oh no. They turn orange right at that point where you are thinking "Fuck, if I go, I might make it. But I might not. And the cops might get me. And I don't have a NZ License. And they'll bust me. And I'll get deported. And thrown in jail. And I'll rot away for the rest of my natural life"

Maybe not, but you get the idea.

I swear, every traffic light I encountered today did this to me. There's something about my car (all the dents? The fact...

Hello from Denny

Submitted by Denny on

I just had to share this email I received from my sister, Cathy:

well - did i tell you about midnight oils new advertising campaign - driving vans around sydney city advertising their album - eg. given peter garrett is head of the Australian Conservation foundation it is pretty crap. i emailed their promotions company to ask why they are using that non-environmentally friendly method and suggested they may as well stick some signs on logging trucks and whaling boats:

here is their managers response...

Cathy,

You are obviously not a fan. You obviously are extreme when it comes to judging others. You obviously don't drive a car, fly in planes, turn on power points, eat meat, wear leather shoes, eat at Macdonalds, drink Coca Cola, have a fridge, or know anything about sustainable and renewable use of resources.

We live in the 21st century and are endeavoring to suggest...

I'm Being Attacked By Meetings

Submitted by TiM on

Heyo people what's news? Lots of stuff going on over here, I dunno where to start really! I've been in meetings all day with our Internet Provider from Hong Kong. Lots of screaming and yelling and general unhappiness etc. What a load of fun it has been! I'm getting pretty good at the art of the Evil Look, the Sarcastic Cough and the Plain Yelling At People business tactics. No doubt I'll get fired next week! With all the jobs going away left right and centre it's no suprise that a lot of people have quietly told me that they're looking for jobs elsewhere. And Peter, if you're reading this (or Sid) I'm not telling you who. But it's not me. Yet.

Big party for Simon and Hera this weekend, they're having their combined birthday bash. Me and Hera are going to be making vodka jellies, or we were until...

Pasifika

Submitted by TiM on

Fantastic day today! I went with Simon, Hera and Annie to Pasifika today. It's a festival they have to celebrate all the different Pacific Island cultures etc. We had the best time, it was a beautiful sunny day and there were heaps of people there. Heaps was actually about 120 thousand so I'm told. It wouldn't suprise me, the place it was held (Western Springs) is massive and the place was totally packed out.

It was the best day, walking around checking out all the stalls of which there were millions, eating tasty food, watermellon, coconuts, hangi, other tasty kebabby things. Mmmm. Tasty. I'm pretty sunburnt now too, but it was worth it!

Errrm yea, that's about all really. Had a day off yesterday to recover from the night before. There was a big work do on, the last ever TelstraSaturn social club do. From now on it's all TelstraClear...

Perfect BDay!!

Submitted by Bianca on

Hey everyone!! :) How you doin´?? This is B here, Tim´s nutter Brazilian ex-flatmate :)) If you´ve been reading the past articles, you´ll know I´ve been back here in beautiful sunny Rio de Janeiro for exactly a month now :) It´s my Bday today (yay!!! *love* bdays :) Turning 25!), and I´m spending it the best med student way: at work at the ICU, aspirating patients´s goopy tubes and trying not to get anyone killed ;)

The team here is really cool, so we had a good time, ordered a few pizzas and munched on some cake and choccies I brought with me for the party :) Oh, and we wore Monsters Inc. B´Day hats as well!!! I wish I had my camera here, forgot it in my locker at the maternity ward :( We took some dumb pics with the uni´s manequins and in the OR there, my best...

Day Orf

Submitted by TiM on

I haven't been into work today, it's an unoffical day off. I spent pretty much my whole entire weekend working for the company, so I really think it's only fair that I get to sleep in and have a bit of time off. Which I didn't really get to do today, the ol' mobile phone kept going flat out. At least I got a little bit of time to relax, chill out and play some bad guitar in the sun.

I went back to the old flat last night to collect more crap, I was going to do that today aswell but I never really got the chance. I'll probably do a bit more tonight instead. I'm also going to take Thursday off (offically) so that I can get a chance to move the rest of the crap, and have a some people come over and clean the carpet etc...

Things Hate Me

Submitted by TiM on

Network upgrades last night, they're always something to look forward to. Not. Lets just say if it could go wrong, pretty much, it went wrong. I'm suprised that things didn't catch on fire the way it was all going. I finally managed to get out of there at 7am this morning, after starting at midnight pretty much. I'd been asleep for about an hour when I got a phone call about something else (another big customer, not working, people singing the "oh shit" dance etc) so here I am back at work. Little sleep in the last 35 hours and not very happy. And I can't even have tomorrow off as I've got a whole bunch of stuff that I've promised I'll do tomorrow. I tell you what though, Tuesday/Wednesday my phone is going to suffer a "malfunction" and I'm not going to be at work.

Not much else to...
