Sick

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people. I'm really sick at the moment. I *think* I have tonsillitus. I can't spell.
I just woke up off the couch with so much sweat pouring off me I'm gonna need another pillow.
I went to the Dr today and he gave me till Friday off. So if I don't post anything that's why, I'm suprised I'm able to focus on typing this at the moment.

Chch is cold.

Lazy Lazy Boy

Submitted by TiM on

What a lazy lazy day today has been. I went to bed about 7:30am just as the sun was coming up and the sky was turning blue. I then slept through till about 4pm or so! I couldn't belive it. Hera had a bunch of her friends come over and I didn't even hear them. It was only when I staggered out of bed looking really dopey that I met them. I think I managed to say hi, I don't remember. I got some food and staggered back to bed again for another hour. Then I got up for about 2, then slept again until 10pm. Here I am now, nearly midnight and I'm not really tired anymore! How stupid am I?

Correct answer: Very stupid.

Thanks again to all the people who have over the last week emailed me and rung me. It's been really really kind of you...

Finally!

Way too much hassle tonight! We got the major problem out of the way then went about the (we thought) minor task of putting new software on one of our routers to fix a bug it's been having. That all worked really well. That is, until we realised half the interfaces on the box weren't working anymore! Arrrgh. Scream. Yell. Panic. Ring Vendor. Realise Vendor has no clue. Roll back to old version of code. Check everything's OK. Calm down, go home.

That's basically how the night went. It's nearly 5am now, I'm sitting at home having a beer and watching tele. There is nothing *on* Tele, but I'm still not really very tired. I think it's been such and up and down week, the lack of sleep all over the place and all the caffine, my poor body doesn't know if it's ment to be sleeping or staying awake...

Saturday Night

Submitted by TiM on

Another Saturday night and another night spent working. Well, not all of it working, but I'm in at work. We're starting at midnight, but I'm in here a fair bit earlier to make sure everything is ready and that I'll go smoothly. This is a follow on from the massive problem we had last night. It was eventually tracked down to a very interesting bug, and we're doing work to find out exactly what that bug is so we can capture it and send it to our vendor, so they can fix their code so it doesn't bite us on the bum again.

Not much else to report really. Weather in Auckland is still shit. I have pretty much given up hope of there ever being any sun. As was pointed out to me last night though, Auckland sits in a narrow part of New Zealand, with sea on both...

Why?

Submitted by TiM on

Why every Friday without fail, do things fuck up in a big way at exactly 4:30pm?
If you can answer that please let me know, cause it really really pisses me off.

Did I say it was raining, or did I say it was RAINING?

Holy fek. The weather last night was totally nut. It raining and it poured and things went crash bang. My car blew all over the road on the way back over the bridge. Well, it might have been getting blown around, or it could just be my crap driving skills. Poor little car didn't really want to start even yesterday after work, but after getting out and giving a few "corrective kicks" it realised that it'd rather start than be beaten to a pulp on the side of the road.

It was so nuts yesterday though, driving/walking around today I've seen so many busted trees and other dead things all over the place. And you have feel sorry for these people. That's really got to suck quite badly.

I went out to the movies last night with my friend Emi. We went and watched SpiderMan, not really a bad movie...

Ahhhh fek

So the second time I decide to drive to work in my time since I've been in Auckland, they decide to shut down the bridge due to really bad weather. Looking out the window at the moment it is black, wet and very very windy. I can hear the wind whistling around the building it's that crap.

Ok, I now hear that it's all just a rumour the radio stations have been broadcasting and it's not true. Still, I think I'll sit around at work for a while and wait till later to cross back over the bridge. In my trusty steed of a car.

Taka

Well I emailed the boss about being famous, he said that he doesn't have a problem with it as long as I run anything by him first. We don't want stupid ol' me saying dumb things and getting them published in some major magazine thingy. Really though, you'd have to wonder what sort of magazine takes someone with purple hair seriously. Everyone knows my stance on aliens so taking anything I say seriously is just silly.

Yea I'm over at Taka today anyway. My god. Read this. This is the funniest thing I've read all day. Some of the comments are classic. "It was getting hard out there."

Another classic case of "Kiwis are stupid"

Right, what was I saying? Oh yea, I drove over to Takapuna today. In my trusty steed of a car. It managed to make it over even in the pouring rain. I probably...
