I *think* I might have found myself a nice place over on the shore to live. I just went to look at this place, it's fantastic. It's got a huge locked gate to get in, it's in a block with 11 other apartments, it's got a little courtyard out the front and (this is the best bit) it's got a dishwasher! How frikking cool is that?

I'm not not to get too excited about it, because I don't know if I've got it yet or not, but the Rental Manager sounds really confidant. It's just down to the landlord themselves though, and if they don't want a single guy then I might be out of luck. But I'll keep you all updated, I'm really hoping I get it! It'd be about a 15-20 minute bike ride from work too. It's just primo.

The New Zealand Labour party won the New Zealand election pretty easily. Well, they got the most votes anyway.

Why all this election shite I hear you ask? Especially because I REALLY CARE A LOT about governments/voting. The only reason I took any interest at all is because I had to monitor the network on Saturday night (voting night) to make sure everything was going ok. We had a couple of pretty big circuits running across the network for elections stuff.



I went into Emi's work yesterday and we stuffed around for about an hour playing various guitars trying to find one I'd like. Well, I liked them all, they're all really nice. I love acoustic guitars. Eventually I found one...

I'm going mad trying to find a new place to live. I got up fairly early for a Saturday (9am) and went up to a cafe with Emi to have some breakfast. I brought the paper before going into the cafe and sat down with my flat white (WITH SUGAR!) and browed the classifieds, expecting to find many fine properties just begging for me to rent them. It's about there the dream ended. I checked, there were about two places. Emi double checked, turns out I'd made a bit of a mistake and there were in fact a whole three places that suited my critera. All of them were answerphone. None of them have returned my messages.

So I'm just a little bit fucked off, as you can probably imagine. I went over to some real estate agents even to ask them if they had any places, but no. They...

I just got back from the Dr's after having the wax washed out of my ears with hot water! How exciting is that? I hope you weren't eating! I went to the Thermal hotpools last night with Emi and her flatmate, it was great. But my ears were all blocked this morning and we have an important customer meeting this morning. I really didn't want to be going "Pardon? Pardon?" all the time.
$60 later and I can hear again. Woohoo! Thank fook it's Friday! I'm in a good mood! Yea! And Stuff! Goodbye!

Hunting for flats/houses is really a nightmare. Well, it seems to be a nightmare if you're looking for a place on the shore anyway. I did actually end up looking at a place last night, it was really nice too. I'm not sure if I should take it or not though, the landlords live in the house in front. I really don't think I could handle my landlords being there all the time. I guess it wouldn't be that bad, but yea. It would just feel "wrong" somehow.

I got woken up this morning by the boss calling me. I'm having the day off cause of this stupid flu, but I'm actually feeling OK at the moment apart from this damn cough. I've rung around a whole bunch of different places. Most are either taken or still have people in them so all the people tell me to do is...

I've just finished having a long chat with my flatmate Hera about girls and relationships and all that. She's really cool to chat to about all those sorts of things, she doesn't tend to judge people at all etc. I like to think that I'm like that too, but I guess the last couple of months have turned me into a jaded bastard! heh. Who knows?




Not much else to report really. I was going to be going flat hunting tonight, but I really don't have the engery. This cold has really smacked me around a bunch! I'll grab the paper again this weekend and go around and check out a bunch of places. Like I've said before, I'm not in any major rush to move out, but I really don't want to have to drive to work each day.

I found out yesterday that I didn't get the nice little cottage that I'd put my name down for, the landlady has chosen another tennant. Yup, I've been out flat hunting today. There's not much about in the area I like either. I went to checkout a place in Devonport, it turned out the landlord must have been on smack, because it was about a 5 minute drive from Devonport. Stupid mornon. Anyway it was a dive. Traffic down/back from Devonport is also nuts, and I was driving on a Saturday afternoon! Stuff having to put up with that on a morning.

I went and saw the landlord of the place I checked out Wednesday night. She seems pretty cool, I thought she was going to be a real nazi but she's not, she's just a wise landlord. Hopefully I'll get that place, she's going to let me know either tomorrow night or Monday morning! Here's hoping!

The lady from the flightcentre just rang me! I got back my plane ticket, or at least most of it, $2300. That's about $300 short, but still!! I'm so happy! I'd pretty much given up on it too, but no! The cheque is waiting at the flightcentre for me to pickup! I'm so happy, that has totally made my day and my week!
