Rain and Traffic = Fun

Submitted by TiM on

Wow, it took me 45 minutes to get to work this morning. That's driving from my place to work. I can ride it in 15 minutes. It was raining so hard this morning that I knew I had to drive though. Stuff that. Next time it rains I'll just walk with my raincoat (that I yet still to purchase) because it'll be quicker. At least I had my harmonica in the car, so I played that a fair bit. I still suck, but I'm getting a little better. Maybe oneday I'll be able to play my guitar and the harmonica at the same time and sound good. Maybe oneday I won't like beer. Maybe I should shut up now and do some work.

Not much to report today. The Baby Animals woke me up nice and loud. I can't believe how many hits that (very) old site I setup still gets. Most of them are people searching for stuff to do Animals and their babies but still. Check it out for a laff, it was my first ever attempt at a webpage!

Anyway, they woke me up nice and loud and I was just getting out of bed when I got the old paniced "Something isn't working Tim, arrrrgh" phone call. So I stayed in bed and fixed it from there. Then decided I wasn't going to go into work for a while, until I got another phone call reminding me I was ment to be there 20 minutes ago. Whoopsie.

Umm yea, so now I'm at work and about to leave. The customer cutover that I setup must have gone alright cause...

Last Few Days Update Thingy Mawhatsit.

Hello everyone, yes I am still alive and haven't fallen under a concrete mixer. Yet.

I've done a bunch of stuff over the last few days which I'll attempt to write about in the 15 minutes I have before I have to do heaps of stuff.

Saturday night I went to a concert where Emi was playing. She forgot to mention to me that I'd be about the only white boy there, the concern was for the asian community... I can tell you I got a few funny looks when I walked into the concert! Lucky I didn't have my head shaved or I might have got asekd to leave. The concert itself was good though, apart from a double act thingy before halftime where this woman (dressed in the most funky pink werid nun looking constume thingy) got up to sing "in time" with a piano and a violia...

Newmarket.

I'm sitting in an internet cafe in Newmarket at the moment. Newmarket is where all the rich people live, and this internet cafe is so swanky as to have classical music playing. You don't get that in most 'net cafe's I can tell you.

I've just walked from Emi's place after spending way to long in bed sleeping. We wet out to the Jazz Bar last night and didn't get home to sleep until some crazy hour. And because I caught a cab into town to meet her I don't have my car with me. So I thought I'd walk on down to Newmarket in the nice sunshine.

There are way to many trendy stores here, all these yuppies walking around telling each other how great their BMWs are and stuff. Where as I get to talk about how cool my BMX is. Close, but no banana for that man...

Australia

I'm really happy! I've just been given a big project, comissioning a site in Australia!! Yea! I get to fly to Sydney for a week sometime in November. It's a really cool project too. I can't really say anymore about it because it's a big secret!

heh. I wish. It's just you'll all fall over asleep if I try and explain it. So we'll just say it's secret and I can feel all special n shit.

Nothin much else to report really. I finished watching Taxi Driver last night. Now I finally know where the "You tawkin to me?" Robert de Niro thing comes from. It's one hell of a snapped out movie, reminded me a bit of Romper Stomer and those sorts of movies.

Speaking of Romper Stomer, check out these 4 (big) photos of Andrew [removed] going nuts rock climbing. And yes, that really is Andrew, even though...

I Hate Rain, Happy Birthday Jeremy, Adam The Shagger!

I rode to work yesterday because it was a nice sunny looking day. And when I got out of work it was horrible, black and pissing with rain. Now Auckland's weather has been quite good of late, so I can't go on my usual tyranical rant about how shit it is all the time. Due to the rain last night though I left my bike downstairs and got a cab home. It wasn't until this morning when I hunted around for my mobile phone (and in the end rang it) that I realised I'd left it in the cab. Whoops. At least the cabby has said to me he'll drop it into work later today.

I got out a couple of movies the other night to watch, Chopper (which I've seen before and is good for a laugh), Rainman and Taxi Driver.

Taxi Driver is a kind of werid movie...

I'm Manning The Fort

It's just me here manning the SDS (Solutions Design and Support) team in Auckland. The rest of the guys are all off on a training course. It makes me a little nervous about my job. How come they're all getting the training and I'm not? Maybe in 2 months time they're going to say "Sorry Tim, you're not trained in that area, you're fired!" Who knows.

So at the moment I've got every muppet and his friend coming up to my desk asking me questions, because I'm the only one here. It's not fair I tell you.

Enjoy the new theme or I'll bash you with a pencil. If you really hate it, create yourself an account, login and you can change the theme back. That's way to much effort though, so just suffer in silence instead. This theme has already recieved the highly acclaimed "Denny Fleming Seal Of Approal...

Hi party animals! Here are some photos of my new apartment! I was doing some tidying today and got bored of that, so decided to take some webcam photos. The webcam isn't very good, so the photos are a little crappy, but you get the idea.

Worked really late again last night. We had to move one of our important Internet boxes from Queen St out to Penrose. We never got it done in the end though, there were too many problems trying to find the right cables to swap them over. It wasn't us that was doing the cabling either. Looks like it'll have to go back to the drawing board and be planned a little better. I finally got home about 5am anyway, got to bed about 5:30am. I didn't get up today until about 1:30pm.

So yea, I'm a little bit lazy. I went out to the...

How to die on a BMX

Submitted by TiM on

I don't think I should ride my BMX anymore while listening to my new Reel Big Fish album. I rode to work this morning and I get so pumped up and full of energy cause of the cool music that I go nuts. A bit too nuts. I think I scared a few drivers this morning. I was (probably not) perfectly safe, but hey. Drivers freak out when people on BMXs go dodging in and out of traffic. And if the cops see me they might not be too impressed either.

Not much else to write. Going to the SPCA tomorrow to pat the doggies and bath the cats, just the usual. It's been quite a while since I've been out there. Everyone is going to ask me how my trip to Brazil was too. That's how long it's been since I've been out there!

Anyway, time to ride home...

Shit Day

Submitted by TiM on

Gawd what a fucking shithouse day. Sorry for swearing, but really, it was extra crap with cheese. Started off badly, I had to get out of a nice warm comfy bed (but not as comfy as my futon) due to a phone call. I then spent most of the morning in a tiny little room to look at a fault. Well, most of the afternoon too. It's just been one of those days. I got back to work to phonecalls about where have I been and ra ra ra.

But it's looking up now. I just got home and my Reel Big Fish CD has arrived. It could not have come at a better time!! I'm at home for the night (Emi's gone down to Hamilton) so some RBF is just what I need. Oh yes, if you read yesterday about that TelstraClear ad I was telling you about, be...
