Ra!

Submitted by TiM on

Newsflash: The coffee machine is back. It's been away for the last 2 weeks getting repaired. It's return is very welcome on a freezing cold morning like this morning. There's ice all over the fields and grass. I walked home last night and to my suprise it only takes 45 minutes, just 10 minutes longer than it used to take me. So I'm going to walk now when the weather lets me. It was a freezing walk this morning but I have my beanie and my warm jacket thing, so I don't freeze. I feel sorry for the cows that live in the field next to my work, they must all be huddled up freezing this morning. I had a bit of a look around to see if I could see them but they're hidden away somewhere keeping warm.

Or maybe McDonalds came and collected them last night...

Coldplay tomorrow...

Going To LA!

Submitted by TiM on

My Boss rang me with some really cool news today. In August I get to fly to the USA for a week. Well, hopefully, it's not 100% confirmed yet. But he's asked me if I'd like to go and set the wheels in motion for it to happen. We have some faulty gear over there and it'll cost just as much to get vendor support onsite as it will to send me. So I get to go!! I so can't wait, I'm all excited! What could be a cooler, a week in LA on the company? Plus I get to go and visit some vendors and see all their cool new gear and discuss out network with them etc etc. It'll be great! Roll on August, that's what I say.

In other news I just got back from a fabbo Tea with Simon and Hera. And Brent and Annie too...

They're Coming To Take Me Away!

Submitted by TiM on

Or maybe not. It just seemed like a good idea for the subject, it's always hard to think of something to write there.

So yesterday was a productive day! I washed all my clothes. Yes, all of them! I also went through what I own and threw a lot of stuff out, because I really had too many clothes. Ones I never wore. So they're all in a bag and I'll drop it off at the Salvos at some stage.

I went into Bond and Bond yesterday to look at dehumidifiers. They're either cheap ($200) or expensive ($700+) In the end I opted to get a good model and see if I'd be allowed to get it on hire purchase. I couldn't see why they'd say no, but these places always seem to decline me when it comes to loaning money. But not this time, it was approved! I was...

Conditions Apply

Submitted by TiM on

I was thinking about those words yesterday on my way to work (Why I have no idea.) It's so easy to promise anything, then have a little bit of text down the bottom that says "Conditions Apply"

All the banks have them for their loans. "Get a super low interest rate on your next home loan, only 3% fixed for 5 years. Conditions apply" and then when you read the conditions you realise to have to sleep with the bank manager to get that interest rate. It's stupid.

I'm going to start promising all sorts of wonderful things to people at work, then quickly mutter "Conditions Apply" at the end of the promises. Not sure what those conditions are yet. Certainly not sleep with me. Ugh.

Yesterday was very fecking busy. The final picture the webcam caught before Helgi unplugged it looks like this. I think that sums up...

Bad Night

Submitted by TiM on

Last night sucked! Well not that badly, things just went wrong after I got home. Horribly wrong.

I got home and it was my turn to cook, so after having looked in the freezer and deciding we didn't have anything worth cooking I went down to the supermarket to get us a feed. It's still only me and Gary, John is still down in Wellington.

So I get to the local supermarket and holy fek! The isles are SO narrow. I mean, I know they don't make supermarket isles very wide at the best of times, but there was some seriously retarded planning going on when they designed this one. Two trolley could barely get past each other...

Now for those of you that don't know me that well, I'm not Mr-Happy-Patient-Shopper. I know what I want so I walk around and grab it. I don't stand there for 20...

Why Flatting Can Also Suck The Big One!

Submitted by TiM on

Tonight I remembered that there are some things about flatting that really suck. Like when your flatmates friends come over and decide that they want to be your best friend. Now this guy, who's name I forget, comes and and acts like we've been best buddies for the longest time. Asks me lots of questions about my work, which I patiently answer.

He then proceeds to tell all these wild and wonderful stories about all these people he knows, and what he's done and they've done. When pressed for details of the South African guy that he knew "really well, a good mate" he couldn't even remember his name. Then told me it was Julian. Sorry, but I can't image a "huge black dude" being called Julian.

But that's just me.

So I thought I'd retreat to the safety of my room. Nice try that one Tim, but no escaping...

It's Truckin' Cold!!!

Submitted by TiM on

Damn it's so cold today! I'd point you to the weather program thingy I had installed here, but it broke over the weekend (damn, that lasted a long time) so I've since removed it again. Trust me when I say it's fecking freezing. I had to scrape ice off the front of the BoD this morning and the poor girl really didn't want to start. So I got out and kicked her a few times. This seemed to help and she finally started, blowing more smoke out the back than a chain smoker.

I think pretty much the only complaint with my new house is the fact that it has NO insulation at all. I needed to put my beanie on last night because my poor head was so cold! Thank god for my super doona that keeps me warm no matter what.

I am going to see if I...

Damn, that really suits me!

Submitted by TiM on

As previous reported, I went to work yesterday wearing a suit. Boy did I cope some shit from people! People wanted to know which alien had taken over my body, or if I'd gone mental or something. Then everyone thought I was going for a job interview. That was most amusing, the poor Bossman ringing me up sounding rather concerned I was looking for alternative employement. Not quite at that stage just yet. But it's nice to know he cares. I didn't tell anyone why I was wearing a suit, instead I offered little hints like "I'm sure the judge will think I'm looking smart" and "I think someone I know died, but I'm not sure?" No believed either of those stories though...

The event was of course Yvette's wedding. It was held in the Births, Deaths and Marriages office. They have a little chapel there, with some flowers and...

What's Going On?

Submitted by TiM on

I've totally freaked everyone out at work. I'm wearing a suit today you see and everyone wants to know why I'm wearing it. I'll let them know why in due course...

Back by unpopular demand is the weather thingy[link removed, cause it died]! Yea! Now you can see how often it rains in Auckland, which is pretty much all of the damn time. Though at least it didn't this morning. I still haven't bought myself a raincoat and I didn't want my shiny suit to get all wet.

In other news I have started "training" for this marathon thingy. I am starting out light, just going for a half hour walk morning and night. Once I've done that for a few weeks and figured out a few good routes I'll start up with the actual jogging. I was doing this for a while back at my old apartment, but the...
