The weekend of "A Man In Dandism"

Submitted by TiM on

Hello there wild party animals, I hope your weekend has been as kind to you as mine has been to me! It's been a blast. I'll start with Friday because Friday wasn't really lots of fun! I had to get up really early and truck out to damn Penrose to do some debugging on the network. Not really my idea of a great time, however after I finished I let people know I had no intentions of going into work, so I didn't! After lots of late nights and early morning that week I thought I was owed a day off, I'd certainly done my 40 hours or whatever come Friday.

Most of the day I stuffed around, cleaned up my room and cleaned my car (Sarah was coming up Friday night, think all the cleaning was related prehaps?) While cleaning my car I got the footmats out to give...

Nothing exciting to report today either sorry fans, it's been a hell boring week consisting mostly of working and sleeping and little bits in between. I was going to go supermarket shopping today because we have nothing here at all but then Johns friend came over and parked her car in behind mine thus stopping me from moving it. I could have asked her to move it I guess but it was a good excuse to postpone for yet another day the dreaded supermarket.

My car is going really well. No funny noises from the alarm (it's turned back on) and the steering appears to be back to normal (ie it's a bit dodgy but at least it works and the little light on the dash doesn't come on) It must be possessed or something because this time last week I thought I was looking at having to spend heaps...

Up Early

Out of bed running this morning with a 6am phone call telling me most of the network was down. Turns out it wasn't anywhere near that bad, just a fault in some of the equipment causing a fairly large outage. Got into Symonds St and prodded and poked and eventually with the help of a few other people got the fault under control. Happiness and joy.

That's all, work to be done, people to stab in the eyeballs etc.

Actually it's not, Gary's cooking chicken for dinner and he's suprisingly un-singing. Usually he sings himself to bits about whatever it is he's cooking. It's most amusing.

So, my weekend! It's been packed full of fun and excitement as you would expect. Friday night I did totally stuff all except go for a scream in my car down to Warkworth. Driving there is lots of fun because there's lot of totally crazy as windy bits of road. The even better bit is there's lots of overtaking lanes on said bits of crazy road. Nothing more fun than flying past a lorry at 90km on the outside while going around a sharp bend. Did I mention I love my MR2?

Speaking of which the damn bastard has decided to have issues with its power steering. It's always had a few problems (it's always been heavy) but last night it decided to...

Hello weapons, how's things?

Just a quick hello before I zip out to the SPCA for the afternoon. Then tonight I have to work for a couple of hours moving customers around the palce. Joy.

This morning I slept in until 11:30am. That has to be first time I've done that in 2 years! So nice to get a huge long sleep.

That's all, I have to go out to the doggies now!

One day God calls down to Noah and says "Noah me old china, I want you to make me a new Ark".

Noah replies, "No probs God, me old Supreme Being, anything you want after all you're the boss".

But God interrupts, "Ah but there's a catch this time Noah, I want not just a couple of decks.....

I want 20 decks one on top of the other".

"20 DECKS!", screams Noah, "Well, OK Big Man, whatever you say, should I fill it up with all the animals just like last time?"

"..... Yep, that's right, well ..... sort of right.......this time I want you to fill it up with fish" God Answers

"Fish?" Queries Noah.

"Yep, fish.Well, to make it more specific Noah, I want Carp, wall to wall, floor to ceiling - Carp!"

Noah looks to the skies, "OK God my old mucker, let me get this right...

So, want to see something really really geeky? It's cool, but it's sure geeky as hell. Check this out then. It's a realtime updated website of any photos I take with my camera. All I have to do is take the picture and then click send and magically it appears! The REALLY cool thing about this is because of the way it works (it doesn't use the Vodafone MMS platform) you don't end up paying Vodafone 50c each time (normally that's how much it costs to send a picture message), all that it costs is the data you send.

No doubt Vodafone will probably realise how this works and close that little loophole, but until then I can just take a snap and wooshka! images appear straight away. It'll be cool while I'm in Australia.

Geeky or what? I rule!

Hello everyone. It's another fun early morning with lots of rain and not enough coffee. Pretty much a standard day. Poor John this morning took a video back and dropped it in the Blockbuster return slot. Only problem was he'd rented it from Video Ezy. That's the kind of dumbarse mistake I make though, when I open the fridge and the coffee's staring at me.

Yesterday was fun at work. One of our departments made a decision that we've been stressing would be a bad thing to do. Yesterday they forced us to do it. Bad things happened. Very bad things, lots of unhappy campers and general screaming and yelling. When told to fix it we said "Umm, well we kinda suggested you don't do this in the first place" which wasn't really met with much happiness. I'm being specifically vague here, I'll link some of the new stories later...

Hello and good morning. Here I am at work at 7:20. Why so early I don't hear you ask? Fuck knows, just because I can be I guess. Least I miss the traffic when I get in this early. And I don't have to fight 600 other muppets to get to the coffee machine first. Not that I ever lose anyway, they all see the look in my eye and get out of my way quick smart, especially when I'm this grumpy.

So, my weekend. It was good. I can't really be arsed writing much about it, I went fishing and hung out with Sarah sums it up pretty much. I caught myself a nice big fish, a "Harpuka" or "Groper" as they're known. It was a pretty decent sized one too. I also caught a shark that was eadible and a whole bunch that wasn't that we threw back...
