Brain Dump Required

Submitted by TiM on

It's exam time tomorrow, I originally posted that it was today but that's because I'm a muppet. I've been doing as much study as possible though and I think I'll do fairly well, I can get pretty much %95-100% on all the test questions the computer can throw at me. The ones in the proper exam will obviously be different but I know the underlying reason why the answers are what they are, not because I've just memorised the answers!

Pretty crazy weekend that I can't be arsed writing about, we went shopping yesterday to get some clothes. It's Sarah's graduation this weekend and I have to look nice for that, so I have some threads that shouldn't make me look like too much of a spanner. I hate things with collars and I now own some pants. Ugh, I just hate the word pants. But I have some now...

Stumblin' Around In An Emergency

Thursday night I went to the pub with a bunch of people to farewall a good TelstraClear mate of mine, Aaron P. He's resigned (like everyone else seems to be doing) to pursue other more interesting career goals. Good on him too, I'm sure he'll do really well, he's one smart cookie.

I might have had a couple too many at this particular bash (No I heard you all cry in mock surprise) and ended up a little tipsy. Only to find out that Sarah's gone to hospital because she's having a really bad ashma attack. So I arrive at the hospital much to the amusement/embarassement of Sarah. I'm told I made a good play thing for the Dr's though when I had a little snooze in the chair. Woopsie.

I finally called my mates Rob and Denny tonight, I've been meaning to for so long it's not funny. I...

Super Happy Once Again!

Submitted by TiM on

I took my car into Midas today, just to get a second opinion in case the guys at Pedders were talking shit when they told me I needed to spend $1000. I took it in fairly depressed, thinking they were going to tell me exactly the same thing. I was very suprised therefore to get a call about an hour after I took it telling me that all that needed replacing was one swaybar ($99), plus labour and GST. I agreed that I should get both swaybar's done at the same time, all in all a total of $290 fixed!

I picked it up at lunchtime and took it for a drive, it's perfect once again! So Pedders, your no bull policy is actually quite a lot of bull!

So I am now fully happy with my car once again! All it needs now is a new stereo, but I...

It's Brewin' Time!

Not much exciting to report today, I'm just writing this to keep in the habit of updating my weblog on a regular basis. Nothing worse than a stale boring weblog, so at least I try to make sure mine's not stale. Can't really help about boring bit!

Talked to my mate Chesty last night for about an hour, his boat was floating around somewhere off the Cost of New Zealand so I got all the latest gossip from him.

Also last night I went and got a swappa-crate from the bottle shop and had a few largers, I need some bottles to make homebrew so there's no better way to get them than to drink them. I tried to force a few down John as well but he was only interested in one and he had to stuggle to poke that down.

I've realised my Kit didn't come with steriliser...

Exam Time

So I'm stressing a bit about the exam that I'll be sitting next Monday! It suddenly seems so close and the material is pretty hard in places. It's not that I don't know it in the real world, it's just a lot of the questions that are going to be asked are stuff I have no need to really use. Like when you take your drivers license, does anyone ever care/remember how far away from a Fire thingy they're ment to park? This is the same thing. So I'm reading the book lots and trying to get my brain to remember it all.

Never fear though, I'm doing very well at Beer School! At least I will be I'm sure, it's beer school part 2 tonight, which I'm mightly looking forward to. Oh look the boss has just arrived so it's time to go.

Anyhow, Have A Cigar.

Anyone remember Pate Biscuit and Bongo? (I still have this book!) Glynn Nicholas was/is a very clever man. I still remember going and seeing his stage performance "Kissing Frogs" a couple of times, the second time around I even bought the tape he was selling and got it signed. I wonder where that is these days? Probably lost or thrown out. It's weird how you lose stuff like that, I'd never have thrown it out on purpose, but I have no idea where it is... Wow and isn't the internet a great thing? I've just found out he has been touring with the show as recently as last year! I can't remember when I went but it must have been around 95/96 or so.

Yea so anyone, back to your regular scheduled crap... I'm not quite sure why I went off on that tangent. I was just thinking...

What do you think of the slightly changed theme? Better or worse? Here's what the front page looks like the way it used to be. Please let me know which you think is better. I like this new one, but if everyone else hates it I'll switch it back. You can always login to your account and then click on the change theme to change it to any of the 10+ other themes.

Enough website geek stuff. Not much has been happening, Sarah is the sick one now, though I think she's mostly just tired. I went and picked her up from her work at lunchtime and took her home, I'll be going over there later on just as soon as I've finished up here at work.

Damn work, s15 crapped out AGAIN last night. This is a most annoying switch in our network, it's had to be replaced...

Hello everybody!

Just a quick note to say that Tim is sick! He caught my nasty flu which includes bonus red raw throat and many other delightfully biological side effects. Both lungs are still in tact at last observation (Sallee!).

That's all lovely people, I have to work to bring home the money this week ;)

Beer School

Submitted by TiM on

My first night of beer school last night, it was very very cool. I got there and got given a funky little folder with "The Beer Bible" written on the front of it, plus an envelope full of other little things. The Beer Bible contains the course outline, which consists of the science of beer, how to brew a good beer, what influences the flavours and aroma of beer and more.

Once I'd been given my folder I was told to make my way to the bar and to pour myself a beer if I desired, which I did. Then we got started, the instructed introduced himself, everyone explained why they were there etc. There's only about 4 of us from off the street, the rest are all Lion Breweries (the people running it) employees. Most are in desk or other jobs and would actually like to learn the art...

I Spy With My Little Eye!

Submitted by TiM on

Good ol' New Zealand. It's all really proud of itself at the moment because they caught some spies from Israel. Read the story, it's got transcripts of their ordeal at the police station and everything. The New Zealand Herald even has a HERALD INVESTIGATION! I know I shouldn't be laughing, but it's funny how proud this country is that they caught these guys with a couple of fake passports. Woop-de-doo.

Have you noticed how I take the piss out of that, yet I write this as if someone in the world actually cares about my opinions? Don't worry, I'm fully aware of the irony of this fact.

I'm sick, I've finally managed to catch Sarah's cold. I'm trying to remain happy and chirpy and I'm telling myself I'm feeling fine because tonight starting at 7pm is Beer School! Yes, for the next 5 weeks I get to...
