Greetings from sunny Hawke's Bay

Submitted by Sarah on

Not really though. It's grey and rainy - just like being in Auckland! I suppose it is the shortest day tomorrow, we can give sunny HB some slack!!!

Sarah here - just thought I'd give you all a wee writeup about our adventurous weekend at my parents...

Actually not that adventurous, but fun nonetheless. We drove in on Saturday afternoon - we were going to leave on friday night but the weather was so awful (and the traffic wouldn't have been much fun) so we decided to have a lovely sleep-in and a leisurely drive down the next day. Tim's car has no radio at the moment (bless) so I MacGyvered some headbanging tunes out of my ipod full bore and my Bombastic headphones. Bombastic because they're those full on type headphones, the padded ones which cover your whole ears. It's handy really, they sound great and the double as...

Today's Theme: I Am A Muppet!

Submitted by TiM on

I'm such a muppet. My last two online orderings have proved what a total muppet I am.

Firstly I ordered Reel Big Fish's DVD... Well what I THOUGHT was their DVD. Turns out their DVD is just part of a series called "The Show Must Go Off, Live At The House Of Blues" and I ended up with ZebraHead's night on stage. Whoever Zebrahead are. I'm most annoyed, waiting 2 weeks to find out I ordered the wrong thing. At least Amazon.com take back mistakes so I'll get credit to purchase the right DVD this time.

Then I ordered the other day 25 blank CDs.... Well what I THOUGHT was blank CDs. I ordered empty CD cases instead. GOD DAMN I AM A MUPPET! At least when ordering things now I'll look a bit closer at what I'm buying.

I took my car into Shore Performance today in the hope...

Supermarket Nightmares

Submitted by TiM on

Last night we went to the supermarket. That's it pretty much, that was all we did. We got back from the supermarket at 11pm. To be fair though, we started at 9:30pm and we even had to leave the first supermarket we were in because it was closing at 10pm. Rage against supermarkets, that's all I can say.

This weekend I think we're going down to Napier. I have got Monday off then on Tues/Wed/Thurs I am down in Napier anyway for business, so I've decided to take Monday off as well and make a weekend of it. Should be good! The MR2 is going to the mechanic's tomorrow to get looked at, nothing major it just likes to drive "funny" when you're trying to drive at a constant speed, plus it smells like petrol if you really drive it hard. Hopefully the mechanic dude will fix it up good...

What's Up Machines?

Hope you're all well and haven't been flushed down the toilet or anything bad like that. Damn I miss the Big Gig.

So what's been happening here I hear you ask. Not a real lot would be my answer to that! Wind the ol' brain back to Thursday night... What were YOU doing Thursday night? While you feel really guilty about what you were doing, I'll tell you what I was doing. Thursday after work I drove home in the '2, for some reason the boys in blue decided to follow me home for most of it. I don't know why, they followed me all the way to my street and nearly drove up my driveway.

I'd love to know what it was all about, but I have no idea.

The rest of the evening was spent with the boss at the local hotel, having a lager...

Babble Fish Cakes

Shamelessly stolen from the New Zealand Herald today:

Given the current debate about homosexuality, following the recent statement by the Bishop of Wherever, a reader was reminded of when Dr Laura Schlessinger, a US radio personality, described homosexuality as an abomination according to the Old Testament, Leviticus 18:22. The following is an open letter response which was posted on the internet.

"Dear Dr Laura, thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law ... When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing smell for the Lord - Leviticus 1:9. The problem...

That's right, I have this website that I'm supposed to remember to update sometimes so that people know I'm still alive. Well, I am still alive and kicking, nothing holding me down or anything. No, I don't know what I'm talking about either.

So what's been happening? I've been spending the last few days in a state of constant guilt and worry, if you're wondering why please see the first comment on my last story. My poor mother, she must think I don't love her anymore! I do love you mother! I will make it up to you this week I promise.

Apart from the worry and hassle, lots of stuff has been happening.

Friday night we went out for Cass' birthday to a Japanese resturant! It was totally crazy, there was a whole bunch of us so we split out to three tables. When it was time to each...

I purchased (I'm too scared to try and remember if I bought or brought, though I'm fairly sure it's the first one) yesterday a couple of iPods for myself and Sarah, they rule! I've already copied heaps and heaps of music onto it and only used a tiny fraction of the space available. It's actually got more storeage capacity in it's tiny little shell than the desktop PC I have at work. Crazy huh?

Long weekend this wekend, that'll be good for sleeping in. Not that I need a long weekend to do it, I bolted awake this morning at 8:30am releasing I'd accidently slept in. I was up and running quickly, in at work by 9am. Consdiering there's a 15 minute drive in there I think that was pretty damn impressive.

I'm going to do some work on my car this weekend. Ok, stop laughing everyone I'm going to...

A while ago, just after I learnt how to flash SonyEricsson phones, I wrote a guide so that other people like me could quickly figure out how to rid their phones of Vodafone Crap. I've just have a look today at the amount of hits it's recieved in the last couple of months. 15 thousand people have read the article on phone flashing!! Don't believe me? Click here then and scroll to the bottom. The article titled "How To: Flashing Your Phone with Div8.4 by Muppet" is the one I wrote. I'd like to hope each person who read it flashed their phone too (doubt it though!) but hey. Rage against Vodafone! Glad to know that so many people think the same way.

Cool huh?

Anyway, not much else to tell you... We went out to Wildfire tonight with Sarah's dad, really yummy as per usual.

Work busy, life good...

Binger Geer!

Bottled my ginger beer today! If the quick sample I tasted is anything to go by, this is going to be the best ginger beer in the existance of ginger beer! I also tasted one of my homebrews that i bottled a few weeks ago. ERK! It's pretty horrible, as expect. The crazy temperature flucuations much have done it I think. Arwin (John's Girlfriend) had a good suggestion for me, her Dad brews homebrew and he puts his brew in a box with a heatlamp! That's what I'll do for my next batch.

It's been a hell lazy Saturday today... It's pissing with rain and it's pretty damn cold. It's 4:30pm and Sarah's still in bed, I've been taking her toast and food as necessary. Nice for some! I haven't done anything either apart from bottle my beer and do a bit of washing, now I'm typing this and have...

Back At Telstra?

Hey people, how's things? It's been a crazy few days! I'm on call all this week to help out someone at work who couldn't do it. Well I'll tell you I'm never doing it again! I got called about 15 times last night, very annoying.

Also, I'm not allowed to claim the oncall allowance because it's not in my contract. Thankfully the person who should be on call can claim it and just give it to me. Bonus.

Looks like I'll be back in Aussie in August, looking forward to that! I'll probably spend a week in Sydney and a week or two in Hobart, maybe the other way around. I'll sit down and plan it out soon after talking to my mum and dad.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've really had nothing to tell you about the last few weeks so that's why no updates. Sorry groovers...
