Sydney

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people, I've made it to Sydney ok.

It's sad to leave Tasmania, I hate having to say goodbye to people especially after two weeks of being able to see people on a regular basis. Still all good things must end I guess, I'll be back in Hobart town soon enough! I had a nice meal at the Ball and Chain (Big hunks of dead cow) with Dad last night, probably the best way to finish 2 weeks in Tassie!

Got up way to early this morning (4:30am) and had a quick cup of tea before packing my bags and heading off with Dad to the airport. Said goodbye to dad and checked into JetStar, number 11 this time. I keep reading people bitching about JetStar in the paper but I think those are the few exceptions, this was my fourth JetStar flight within two weeks and I haven't had...

Time To Leave Tasmania

Submitted by TiM on

Well as much as I don't want to, it's time to leave Tassie! Today is my last day here, I guess you could count tomorrow but seeing as I'm leaving at 6am in the morning, I don't think it really counts.

This morning I drove back from Launceston, I drove up there to see my good mate Travers and to meet his Fionce Alison. Had a really good time up there, we hung out at the pub for a bit and met up with a few people who I'd nearly forgotten about (but soon remember really well once I saw them, and them me) then went and got some really tasty food at a Thai place. Yummo, Tom Yum soup (super hot) rules.

What else has been happening the last few days? Not much to talk about I don't think... I've been taking it easy, just hanging out at Dad's...

Cold, Wet and Miserable

Submitted by TiM on

It's a cold, wet miserable day here in Hobart. I haven't really done anything either, I went down to Salamanca for a while before to talk to Sarah online. Then I came back home and haven't done anything noteworthy since, I'm just watching The Young Ones DVD that I borrowed off Chris.
Hopefully tomorrow will be much nicer, I was going to go out and see Nan today but I'm holding off until tomorrow in the hope the weather will be nicer (so I can take her for a drive somewhere)
Here's a webcam snap of Barney I took when I babysat him on Friday night.
That is all.

Melbourne For A Day!

Submitted by TiM on

I'm famous in Australia now, I was on the tele yesterday. No doubt the phone calls and autograph requests will be pouring in really soon now. That's right, while I was at the football in Melbourne yesterday the camera panned in on me and Denny for about 3 seconds. 3 whole seconds of fame! How could they not have noticed my talent while I was sitting there looking dead sexy, cold, wet and freezing?

What am I babbling about? Read on (it’s a long one!)

Yesterday Myself, Julian, Rob and Denny flew over to Melbourne to watch the Essendon Bombers battle it out against The Carlton Blues at the MCG. I haven't talked about it on here before now because it was a surprise for Rob, he didn't know we were flying over. We'd managed to book really cheap $40 flights over with JetStar, so it was a nice surprise...

Hard Day

Submitted by TiM on

Well it's been a really hard day today I have to tell you. I got out of bed at about 9am (which is a good time for me) and staggered downstairs to make myself breakfast. Then I finished ripping the rest of Dad's Beatles CDs. Side Note: Dear EMI Records, I am going to buy them all really soon now. I promise.

Then I went for another wander down to Salamanca place to buy a few things for someone special, then wandered back home again.

At 1pm it was time for my lunch date with Tim F, so we met up at the New Sydney for a pint or two. Or 5 plus 4 CC's and dry as it turned out. There's an afternoon wasted! Tim even had to go back to work for a meeting though it can't really have been a very good meeting!

Yesterday I went to...

I've Made It To Tasmania!

Dear Diary!

Well I had just finished writing up a really nice long entry for you to feast your eyes upon, when the power in the Cyber cafe I was sitting in went off. The whole of Salamanca in fact seems to be affected by the power outage, though its now back on here at Dad's apartment. I'm taking the safe way out this time, writing it on my laptop then I'll copy it onto my little USB flashdrive. No power will get to it then!

So, what's been happening take two:

Saturday I got up at Sarah's place nice and early and drove home, finished drying my clothes and packing my bag. Then Sarah and I went for breakfast/lunch (I hate the word brunch with a passion) at Mission Bay. Yummo chicken breast washed down with pancakes and a bit of a walk on the beach. Then Sarah drove...

Quick Hello

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people! I'm having a great time being on holiday, no stress and no worry. It's great.

My new webcam arrived on Monday too, it's not special really not much better than the old one I still have lying around somewhere. This one takes slightly better pictures though and has a microphone built into it. I also took a photo of the Chillies, they're going to recieve a transplant this week. Here's how big they used to be, here's how big they are now.

Exciting things that I've done with my time off so far: Err, pretty much nothing actually. Weekend was fairly quiet, we didn't really do much. Yesterday all I did was a few things for Sarah and then I cooked us the most wicked chicken wings you've ever tasted. I'd love to take full credit for them but Sarah had to show me how to...

Shutting Up Shop!

I've sent out my emails listing my last remaing jobs, tidied my desk up so it looks really clean and spiffing and I've got my feet on my desk waiting for 5pm. I'm so happy to be on leave, you don't realise how much you want/need a holiday until you're about to go on one.

The only blot on the horizon is work I have to do on Sunday morning at 3am. It's something that's been planned for a couple of months (way before my leave was mentioned let alone booked) so I still have to do that. Still it's a small price to pay for 4 happy weeks of leave.

I don't have much else to report, things are going well. Sarah went to look at an apartment last night, she's seriously looking at moving out of her current place and into her own apartment. You can see she's...

Australian Dates

Submitted by TiM on

Spent an hour or so online last night booking my flights back to Australia. It really pisses me off how they say "$189" then you click on next and they magically add on $89 for taxes and fees and rip-you-off levies. Means we ended up paying about an extra $200 than we thought we were going to have to. We'd done some test bookings the night before but because we hadn't "confirmed" them the magical hidden taxes weren't displayed to us. Stupid farking airlines. Anyway, read on to see what dates we'll be where....

On the 31st of July I'm flying out of Auckland to Sydney, then catching a connecting JetStar flight down to Hobart. So hands up who wants to pick me up from Hobart airport at about 11:10pm on Saturday the 31st?

On the Friday the 13th of August (Yea!! Flying on the Friday the 13th, how cool...
