Moving Mania

Submitted by TiM on

Due to Sarah's flatmate being a total total fuckhead (must be logged in to read), we've been moving all her stuff out of her old apartment, into her new one (thankfully just across the hallway.) We've got it all moved now though, she's been out shopping to get the few things she didn't have.

So! An exciting couple of days, not to mention an interesting insight to just how fucked up some people are. Thankfully Sarah's landlord is really nice guy, really helpful and understanding.

I have heard nothing from Sony... I sent the same email to another couple of places to submit feedback and nothing. I'm going to crack out the printed version next, they really can't ignore that. I'm happy enough with the player, it sounds good and I know what I have to do to make the mp3s work in it, but I shouldn't have to do...

Rage Against MP3 Players!

Submitted by TiM on

Just sent this to Sony NZ:

Hi There!

Last Wednesday I purchased from Repco Glenfield a CDX-F7700 based on the fact it claimed to be able to play MP3s.

This it seems it can do, sometimes. I encode all my MP3's using a program called LAME, it seems that the CDX-F7700 is unable to handle these MP3s, instead skipping and jumping through them. It's very annoying.

I realise I could use another mp3 encoder, but I don't think I should have to for a couple of reasons:

1) The mp3's in question play fine in a number of other hardware players I have (my ipod, my home dvd/mp3 player)

2) A large number of the mp3s on the internet are encoded with this LAME encoder, so any music that I download will suffer the same problem (I've tested this and it appears to be the case)

A link for the...

New Tunes!

Submitted by TiM on

I bought myself a sexy new car stereo today. It's a nice flashy Sony CD/MP3 player. It's been fitted tomorrow, along with some nice new speakers so I can drive along and have some decent tunes. The current stereo carked it quite a while ago, much to my dismay so driving has been a quiet affair. Often I've been resorting to putting my ipod on but I'm fairly sure that's illegal (though I saw someone else driving along with headphones on the other day so I'm not the only freak who does this)

Speaking of cars, I took Sarah's little Honda in today to get a warrent of fitness. When I went to pick it up the guy joked that I owed him a new a pen as he'd run out of ink filling writing out all the defects! It wasn't really that bad though, shouldn't cost us too much...

Love Birds!

Saturday morning Sarah said she wanted to go to the pet store. I knew it would be one of those days! We had a nice lunch at Mission Bay, though the service was pretty woeful. I guess because I don't dress in flash clothes people just pass me over when offering service, we were just about to walk about before we were asked did we want coffee or a drink. Well hello, you think maybe that's why we've been sitting in your cafe for 15 minutes? When breakfast finally arrived it was very lushious so that was one saving grace.

After breakfast we drove out to the biggest Pet Store in Auckland (at least that I know about), Jansens on the North Shore. We had a look around in there and Sarah decided she really wanted to get a finch. But then she wasn't sure so we looked at the...

TUANZ 2004

Submitted by TiM on

Well, as Sarah's pointed out already, I won! I was most surprised and very happy to win, it was great to get the award with my boss and workmate Dylan there. Shame I was wearing a Tux all night, silly stupid things that they are.

I guess you'd like to see some photos, so look here and here. They're the only ones I have and I only just got sent them, I didn't take a camera on the night.

It was a pretty crazy affair really, first of all there were pre-dinner cocktails. This consisted of some red fizzy crap in a poncy flute glass. I hated mine and did a good job not to berk it up on someone. After 30 minutes of standing around (I think we were supposed to mingle, but mostly I just wanted to stab) finally everyone shuffled into the dinner room for the...

So Excited!

Hi Everyone!!!!!!

I just wanted to announce that Tim WON!!!!!! And I'm very proud, as I'm sure you all are. Lots of people at his work seem to be as well judging by all the phone calls!

I'm sure he wants to tell you all about it, but I know how modest Tim is, so I thought I'd break the ice, and to say how very proud of you I am!!!!

Hopefully Tim can get some pics up soon because I'd like to have a look too!

I forgot how much I loved The Goodies! For my birthday recently Dad got me The Goodies DVD which has 8 episodes from their show on it, all of which I watched yesterday. They made me laugh so hard, half because it's so funny and half because I was remembering how much fun I used to have watching the show when I was little.

I can remember watching The Goodies at night after I got home from school, along with Dr Who and then Countdown on Sunday. We're talking about 20 years ago now I guess, scary huh? It was strange how well I remembered the plots from some of the shows, but I couldn't remember some of the others at all (maybe I didn't see them)

Best of all though I remembered all the songs in the show so well, it was like I'd only heard them yesterday. I'm...

Back!

We made it back from Australia with no real problems yesterday, the biggest issue was being given two seats not next to each other. How stupid of Qantas! After we went up and complained to the ticketing desk they told us the reason (a bunch of people from a Freedom air service had been lumped on our flight) and fixed it up for us, which was nice.
That's all, I'll write some more tomorrow when I feel a bit better (I now have the flu Sarah had)

More News From Sydney

Hello party machines, hope you’re not all bored to death of the Olympics yet. I know I am, the sooner that woman with her leg gets to see it lying on the ground a few metres behind her while trying to take a hurdle with only one leg the better. Ok, so that’s a bit harsh but I really don’t need a 5-minute report on her leg each night.

So I’m in Sydney, Sarah made it over on Saturday too without any major problems. A little bit worse for wear after going out partying till 4am on Friday night! Still, there’s not really a better way to start your holiday now is there!

Saturday night we went out for dinner to place in Crow’s Nest, a up market bar type of place, we had a night dinner there and tried a few of the fancy beers they had available. We...
