Legless

Submitted by TiM on

Hi groovers, hope you are doing well and your legs haven't fallen off like mine and Sarah's wanted to do this morning.

As you should know (You do read this site religiously, right?) Sarah and I went in the 10km Auckland Marathon yesterday. This ment having to get out of bed at 6:30am on a Sunday morning, something neither of us is particulary familar with. Even more sadly for us though it included the pre-race Run around trying to figure out what the hell is going on Marathon which we estimated was about a 3km event.

We were tired before the start and also we were in the last few people to cross the start line. We didn't really care though, it was a beautiful sunny day and our walk along the Auckland waterfront was really nice, even if there was a lack and drink stands and the frikkin Milo's...

No Undies

Submitted by TiM on

I was going to go in the Undie 500 today, but it's kinda turned out to be a bit too hard. I have an ear infection (at least I think that's what it is) which is making me feel pretty crap and grumpy, plus it's overcast and horrible. Also, I'd have to drive all the way over into town and find a place to park. Then you really need a spectator or two, which I didn't have.
So no undie 500 for me this year, maybe next year instead!
We are walking the 10k Auckland Marathon this Sunday though, so that'll be some good exercise (I'l be wearing more than Undies)

How Chirpus Stopped The TelstraClear Network!

Submitted by TiM on

I was sitting at home last night, having a cup of coffee and watching the shit on TV (yes, I was very bored) waiting for 10pm to come around so I could do my network upgrade. About 9:25 Sarah sends me a text saying that Oscar won't go back in his cage, silly silly bird. He does like to fly around quite a lot and he's hard to catch when he gets up high! So no worries I thought, I'll jump in the car and drive over to Sarah's quickly, dialup and do the work from there. I made it to Sarah's at about 9:55 and went to dialup.

What's the chance, our dialup modem pool has had a major issue and I'm unable to dialup at all for 30 minutes.

So it's all Oscar's fault I wasn't able to do my work, I have to do it tonight instead...

Long Weekend

Submitted by TiM on

Rage against Tuesdays after a nice long weekend! Get back to work and there's a snapped switch to try and fix. Happiness and joy. I think we've got it fixed now, and I think the smaller proper helped me to track one of the bigger problems we've been having on a rare basis. Something that only happens once every 3 weeks for about 3 seconds is very hard to nail down! I'm really hoping we made some progress on that today, MPLS is a right cow when it goes tits up!

Weekend was good, we didn't really do that much. Saturday a bit of shopping, I washed my car and of course all it did was rain for the rest of the weekend. Sunday a bit of shopping and painting. Monday a bit of shopping back out a Botnay Downs, plus a trip to the pet store to buy things...

There's Boags in my fridge...

...and it’s not going anywhere.

As yahooligan as Tim would have you believe, he’s becoming SUCH a grown up lately.

Nothing to do with me, either – he’s just started being way more responsible, looking after himself and PACING himself when it comes to eating and drinking (except at Wildfire, although he doesn’t shovel it in quite as fast as he did when I first met him). It’s been MONTHS since I’ve seen him shove a whole fried egg in his mouth (using his bare hands) and yes, he purchased 6 (!!) Boags LAST FRIDAY, and there are still 3 in my fridge. They’re just sitting there, cold & tasty, alone, afraid and confused.

I happen to agree with Nan Harman, Tim looked lovely at 94kgs, but I don’t think national pies and chocolate milk every day is very good for your insides, dear, nor is it for my willpower...

Finally

I asked, and God (who I don't believe in by the way) has answered.

There's about 3 good things on TV these days, Law and Order, Bro' Town and ummm... errr, oh yes. Static. Why do I hate commerical Television/Radio so much? Most people can happily watch it, but if I'm subjected to it I honestly want to either throw the television or radio (often my car stereo) out a window. That being said, I can often tune out some crap stuff (ie the ads on "The Rock") for the music they play. I have double standards that don't even make sense to me.

In happier news, no longer do I weigh 94kg, rather I'm down to 86kg. Not quite where I want to be, but I'm doing a good job of getting there.

This probably won't help with that:

"Hello Tim,

Yes, we have recently re-introduced our James Boag's...

Cha-Ching!

Gotta love Pay Day! This happiness won't last for long though (it never does)

Nothing much to report today, BossMan is off to LA for a couple of days so we're free to run around and terrorise the place. Disco boogie! Helgi got his hands on a box of Kit-Kat Chunkys and has been handing those out all day to people. They expired about a week ago but they're still damn tasty.

Flashed my first K700 today and it didn't like me very much after I did, nasty error message. Thankfully someone was able to help me out of the tight spot I was in and I got the phone working again without any problems. Very nice little phone they are too, here's a photo that Dave/Matt took with it.

It turns out there is/was a problem with the Flashing Server I used, hopefully they'll get it fixed soon enough...

Rain Rain Go Away.

Hi peoples! Sorry for the delay with posting updates, It seems I don't really have much time these days for my website. Prehaps I should retire it? I'll keep going for the moment with the not-very-often updates and see what happens.

Friday night Sarah's partents drove up from Napier (which is now flooded!) to deliver their old washing machine. Very kind of them, the girls were going to the laudromat all the time. Once we've offloaded the washing machine we headed off to our favourite place to dine out, Wildfire. We ate lots, drink a little bit and had a great time. Mmm, tasty tasty hunks of cow and lamb. So tasty!

This is probably why I woke up on Saturday morning with one hell of a gut ache. I was sore! A bit of a lie down on the couch though and some coffee and I was...

Reviewing The Roundabout Of Rome

Submitted by TiM on

Hi people, how are you?

It was KPI review time today, the sit down with the boss and discuss what I have and haevn't done. Thankfully it took about 3 minutes so I was able to go back to my desk and do some real work! We also had the results from our Employee Opinion Survey presented to us today, ouch. Things can only get better I guess!

As mentioned, the boss is in town. Which of course means we went out last night for a few hours to chew the fat. We went for dinner to a place called Sago, Sarah and I used to go there quite a bit, as did a lot of other people I know. Last night was shit though, gone is the nice atmosphere and the friendly staff. Instead replaced by a generic resturant with 16yo's learning how to be a waitress let loose...

What The HELL?

Submitted by TiM on

Ok, a couple of things to talk about today... Important Things...

Firstly, what the hell is wrong with you all back there? John Howard AGAIN? My God! You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I went and voted, first the first time in my life I didn't "Vote 1 Aliens", I voted (properly) for the not-John-Howard party. Anyway, I don't live there at the moment so I guess I can't be too angry.

Second, and this is the major thing. I hope most of you are sitting down while I tell you this. I know a lot of you will be shocked. Some of you will be very happy for me, some of you will probably be quite upset. Read on for what is probably the biggest announcement of 2004...

They are once again selling James Boags Premium in New Zealand. That's right, you heard correctly. It's for sale...
