Landlord

Submitted by TiM on

Our landlord bought us over Xmas presents today! I wasn't there, but John had rung me up earlier saying the landlord wanted to come and see us today. Both of us assumed that it would be a polite "Sorry we're going to sell the house" but it wasn't! According to John they bought us beer and a ham and some other nice things!

How cool is that? I feel bad for thinking they were going to kick us out now. I guess we are good tennants though, we always pay our rent on time and we keep the place tidy.

Sarah and I went to see Team America today, fark it was funny! Quite rude and purile too, but overall a good laugh. It's a crap day in Auckland today, raining and miserable. We also went to "Ouch" at the Auckland Museam, a display of things that bite and hurt...

Christmas Shopping

Submitted by TiM on

I remember when I used to enjoy Christmas shopping. Actually I guess "enjoy" is probably a little too strong of a word. I liked walking around and looking at the various things trying to figure out who'd like what etc. Now I seem to find that it's a mission, a stressful thing. No longer do I look at the happy people singing Christmas Carols and think "That's nice!" Now I think "Who's got some petrol and matches?"

Guess I'm getting old and cynical.

Bought myself a new ADSL router and wireless box today, no longer do I have two crappy old boxes plugged together in a shite manner. Now I have one sexy, shiny box that does a nice fast job of being a ADSL router thingus. And for extra geek points it runs linux.

Been up tonight working, as you might have figured out I also went up to...

Wobbling At Windy Waiheke!

Submitted by TiM on

What a busy weekend it was!

Friday night Sarah decided it must be time for her to try and cut a Christmas Tree into my nice Orange hair. I didn't have my clippers with me though, so she did it using scissors. It turned out ok, but it ended up looking a bit more like a mohawk on the front than a tree. It gave people even more reason to stare at me funny than the orange hair itself had.

We stayed at home on Friday night, Kelly was having a BBQ so we went to that. Craig and Fiona (friends of Sarah's) came over as well, we had a great time sitting out on the deck with the barbie. A bit of crappy barbie mind you, everything I cooked got black crispy bit of crap all over it from the previous cooker, but the food was all tasty in...

Fancy A Smoke?

Submitted by TiM on

New law comes into effect at midnight tonight, no longer will I be allowed to smoke in a pub or a club. Thankfully this doesn't affect me though because I don't smoke, but it'll be interesting to see how it does affect the various clubs etc around the place. I feel especially sorry for the cigar room, that place exists because of smoking.

After work yesterday Sarah and I went down to Mission Bay, we sat on the grass and ate a yummo pizza from the local Mission Bay Italian Pizza Man. Very tasty pizza with lots of extra garlic and anchovies, it was really good. Then we went to watch the movie with "that guy from scrubs in it", called Garden State. What we didn't know until we saw the credits was that-guy-from-scrubs not only stared in it, but wrote and directed it. It's called Garden State and it...

Better!

Submitted by TiM on

I got over my flu nice and quickly, thank fek for that! Only spent all of Sunday and quite a bit of yesterday in bed so I wasn't hit too hard with it. Back to work today and feeling pretty good.

I had a lot of time yesterday, so I spent it with Oscar trying to train him to not be so scared of us. Now I can put my finger in the cage and he'll hop on it, bring him out, pat him and put him back in his cage. He doesn't get all scared and fly away, he'll even relax so much as to preen himself while I'm patting him. He's come a long was from running over to the other side of the cage if you got near to him.

I've changed the way my website works a little bit today. Now I can make any story...

Sick

Submitted by TiM on

Hello everyone. I'm currently lying in Sarah's bed watching Oscar run around like a mad bird, chirping and clucking and generally being crazy. I've come down with the flu that Sarah has had the past few days. Yesterday I was totally crap all day, today I am feeling a lot better but still going to rest in bed all day. That's if Oscar with his super loud chirping will let me.
That's all.

Holy Hell Skype!

Submitted by TiM on

I posted a little thing about Skype the other day, well I'm going to post about it again it's that cool. I have been talking to my mate Chris and my other mate Tim with it, and the call quality is fantastic. It's much clearer than a normal phone call, you get the full range of sound and it's so clear and lag free. I'd prefer to use it instead of a normal phone! Give it a couple of years of quality voice-over-the-net program like this and the role of Telstra, Telecom, TelstraClear will be data only, the traditional voice call will be nothing.

Anyway, if you want to install Skype (it's totally free) look me up, my username is tjharman.

Had a good weekend, Saturday night Sarah and I went to the Maroon 5 concert. I was impressed when they came out on stage and they were holding instruments...

Scream, Woof Woof, Hum.

Submitted by TiM on

The title of todays story is because these are the things I can hear at the moment, the crazy Asian neighbours screaming "Haaa yaaaa!!!" at each other, the damn mutt over the back fence barking (probably at our crazy neighbours) and the hum of John's computer. And the reason (you can't legally use "And" as the start to a sentence, can you?) I picked the cow icon was because the poor thing hasn't been used in over a year (click her and see). So I felt sorry for it.

It's been a really busy week this week, heaps of crazy out of hours work getting customers connected and fixing up small problems etc. Just one of those weeks. Some will be really quiet, others are like this week! I'm actually having tomorrow off, because I worked about a 14 hour day yesterday. We had a cutover start at 5:30pm and...

The Amazing Christmas Party

Submitted by TiM on

We went to the Vodafone Christmas Party on Saturday night. Holy McFek Burgers. I have never been to anything like it, and probably never will. It didn't even really dawn on me how amazingly cool it was until the next morning. Some of the highlights:

- Four chefs making sushi all night.

- Five bars.

- Four different rooms.

- Midgets running around in groups dishing out water to everyone.

I just know all the other Christmas parties I go to now are going to suck the big one compared!!

The theme of the party was Wonderland, so there were some really excellent costumes there. I dressed up as a, well, I'm not sure. Moron springs to mind, I had little shorts on with rainbows on them, bright orange hair (which I still have) and bus driver socks. Oh yes and my push-its. Sarah looked really nice with some cool...

Ramblings On A Sunny Friday Afternoon

Submitted by TiM on

Hello world, this is God.

Friday's rule, it's a lovely sunny day here today. I went home for lunch and Craig was there so I had a bit of a chat to him. The clothes dryer has mangically appeared so that's a good thing, we can all dry our clothes once again. Not that I really even bother to wash mine anymore, black is always clean as far as I'm concerned.

The raging Vodafone Christmas party is on tomorrow night, Sarah and I still haven't sorted out costumes out but I guess that's what Saturday will be for. Then the next Saturday is another work Christmas party, just some of the old Tras guys I used to work with's do. I'll be a real blast though, even though I don't get to hang out with them much anymore. Christmas always bring people together.

Then on Friday the 10th of December...
