Apply Brakes! Reverse, Reverse!

Submitted by TiM on

So maybe now I won't be going to LA this weekend. We're still awaiting signoff and the signoff process is something so complex it's almost funny.

The latest I hear is that Ziggy will probably have to sign this off. Stop laughing because I am dead serious! If that's not micro management I don't know what is.

One minute it's all "You're going for sure, hope you've got your bags packed" the next it's "I'm sorry, I don't think it's going to happen" Bugger.

Arrived at work today to find a A4 bit of paper totally bagging the company stuck to the notice board. Management came around the floors to take it down, but not before about 500 copies had been made. It's very funny and sadly quite true. We suspect it was done by the guy who left the company yesterday.

I'm off to Sarah's house anyway, they're having...

A Bit Of An Update

Submitted by TiM on

It's really hard to get motivated at work after such a nice time down at Napier, especially the last 2 days which have been really nice weather, the sun streaming in the window nearly makes it all the way to my drab, dull cube.

To make matters even worse we have a new person that's started with us. This is actually a good thing, he used to work in faults and is an excellent choice to join our team, no complaints there. It's the fact we have now have to find space to squeeze him in. Then when our two new slaves arrive (we're getting some graduates) we're going to be totally squeezed in. I'm sure there's a law somewhere about how packed in you have to be before you're allowed to go legally insane and wield your stapler in ways it's not ment to be wielded.

So enough bitching...

LA is confirmed!

I'm leaving NZ this Saturday for 8 or so days in LA to fix stuff. I was ment to be on leave this week but I ended up cancelling that so I could sort out flights etc, plus my battle plan when I get there.

Sucks to be back in Auckland, the weather is miserable and work is well, it's work!

It was great to get back and take my poor car for a scream.

Squeek! Cool photo huh? Rusty caught the mouse, he was still alive so Sarah put him in a box to recover from his shock. Once he realised he wasn't going to die he started to go crazy in his box so they let him go (after taking this cool pic)

Here's a cool photo of us we took playing around with the digital camera.

That's all, back to work everyone!

Leaving Napier

Submitted by TiM on

We've heading back home today, it's going to be sad leaving! I hear Auckland's weather for the last 2 weeks has been crap, while here in Napier it's been anything but crap.
There's been flooding in other parts of New Zealand in the last 2 days too, it's mental!

Probably the worst bit of weather we had was last night, we went to an open air cinema in a vinyard and we got a little bit rained on. It wasn't so bad that we had to leave though and it stopped after a while. The movie was Latana, it was billed as a Thriller but it was just one of those movies where 5 little subplots all end up getting interwoven at the end.

Back to soggy ol' Auckland!

I am writing this story mearly to gloat. Right now I'm lying in the sun, next to the pool. Later on tonight we're going to go The Feelers and OpShop concert.

Yup, life is good in the Napier Sun!

Happy New Year

Submitted by TiM on

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope 2005 is good to you!

We didn't do anything last night, just stayed at home.
First time in ages since I've woken up on New Years without a hangover!
Oh well! :)

Haven't done much today either, we just hung out, did a little bit of kite flying and tried to find somewhere in town that would be open to print out some of our photos. No such luck though.

Hopefully Chesty is going to be pulling into Napier tonight, I might get to catch up with him and have a beer or two.

That's all!

Tim

Update: I got to catch up with Chesty! He's looking really well, we got to have a good chat in the local Napier Irish pub for an hour and a half, before I had to take him back to his ship for his shift to start.

Happy Christmas From Napier

Submitted by TiM on

Hi everyone, Tim here reporting from lovely Napier!

We've had an excellent time down here, Thursday night we drove down late and ending up staying the night in Taupo in this crazy place called "The Caboose". It was an African themed hotel. When we went to get a room (at about 1:30am) Sarah told me I wasn't allowed to get a room with a moose head hanging in it. I informed the guy on the front desk of this and he looked at me a bit funny. Turns out Sarah was just joking.

Friday morning we were up early, the car still groaning under the weight of all the presents in it for Sarah, Sarah's family and of course myself.

Check out the holiday photos taken with our new digital camera.

Friday we just hung out and had a relaxing day, Friday night we visited a few of Sarah's parents...

1001th Post.

Submitted by TiM on

Crazy last few days before Christmas!! Not so much sorting out technical work things as the other upcoming work thing. Trying to get all the bits and pieces sorted out when you're not really sure what's expected of you is quite hard, thankfully I have someone who's helping me out with all the arrangements. Still a task and a half though.

Otherwise not much else going on, I got most of my Christmas shopping done on Sunday afternoon, only a few small things let to get. Work is quiet as because lots of people aren't here.

This is 1001st post too! I can't believe I farked up and missed my 1000th as I'd been watching closely the last couple of times. Guess I suck! I never though this thing would still be going at 1000, when I started it I was only expecting to be in NZ for a...

Snow!

Submitted by TiM on

We woke up this morning to a very loud rainstorm on the roof! So loud that I got out of bed to have a look at what was going on. Turns out it was hail! That's right, 6 days before Christmas and it's that cold here that there's hail. I grabbed a few photos with my phone cam.

Here's hoping it gets a tiny bit warmer before Christmas Day!
